  1. on 1.5 bar boost u should be getting about 270awkw i reckon
  2. Stacey looking at the dyno chart, the horizontal is speed. The left vertical is kw and the right vertical axis is in "N". If u read the chart the top curve "power", it climbs from 50kw at 80kph to 160kw at 130kph, the gets a little less steeper but keeps climbing to a peak of 208awkw at 180 kph. I have no idea what rpm this was and i think the readings were taken in 4th gear which would make it about 4500 - 5000 rpm from experience (ive had it at 211 kph at 6500 rpm before). If the std r32 gtr has peak torque at 4400 rpm mine (with the PFC) has peak torque about 5500 then. Does that sound right to you?
  3. Probably a stupid question. Ive got an r32 GTR and plan to take it down the 1/4 mile soon. To get the best time and assuming all other things being equal, should i be shifting at the point of max torque (4400 rpm) or max power (8000 rpm)? Got a PFC and AVCR installed and A/F ratios perfect through the entire rev range. Cheers
  4. The standard wheel is 16 x 8. I think the widest tyre u can fit on the rim is 225 wide. Thats what im running. Hope that helps.
  5. Thanks dude. that clears it up
  6. by the way i blew the f***** sti away. I think 4.7sec for the 100 kph can be reached if the car only had like 10,000 km on it and not much wear.
  7. my r32 GTR has a power fc and avcr with 1 bar. launched it at 5000 one night at 10 degrees ambient racing my mates sti and the best i could do was about 5.2 sec timed by the same meter. Im guessing u need to launch at like 6000 or something to prevent the thing being bogged and dropping revs/boost. Mind you, after a launch at 5000 the clutch smells like Chernobyl.
  8. Can someone tell me what type of lifters the rb26dett uses? hydraulic or solid? whats the difference? Cheers
  9. Mike, is there any way to get the load-point numbers without the Commander Unit? I dont have one. Ive been thinking about buying one for a while.
  10. Thanks Mike. I did get the PFC dyno tuned, got the fuel maps leaned out. It all took about 15 mins and i was surprised how short it was. The guy used the Apexi Commander unit and im told he has done it 1000 times before so he was an expert. It was C & V here in NSW that did it. When i got the PFC installed i only had the full exhaust fitted and on std boost it gave me 180 awkw. After the AVCR was fitted and retuned for the higher loads, its pumped 210 awkw. Im not sure what to do next, whether to see another tuner and have the fuel & ignition maps checked or whatever. The car does feel off under 3500 and its unbelievable on boost and i would be happy if it felt alive all the way thru the rev range. I got the impression that i was being taken for a ride, so to speak, when the car goes into a tuner and i dont want to get ripped off.
  11. i have a black r32 GTR 1993 model. comes with Apexi PFC Apexi AVCR Full Hi Tech 3 inch exhaust from the front pipes HKS filters new stereo + speakers 73000 kms Dyno tuned makes 210 awkw. Massive torque new timing belt, engine carbon cleaned, injectors cleaned, always garaged + serviced. Looking for about $35,000.00 for it.
  12. Got an r32 GTR with these mods: PFC AVCR @ 1 bar boost HKS filters 3 inch exhaust from front pipe Standard turbos, dynoed etc making 210 awkw. I noticed that after the PFC was installed that when im in 3rd @ about 3000 rpm on a mild load the engine misses for a fraction of a second. It doesnt do it all the time, maybe once every 5 occasions im at that rpm and load point. Has anyone had anything similar? Any ideas on fault and repair necessary? Cheers.
  13. i got a Power FC, AVCR, full 3 inch exhaust and pulled 210 at all 4 wheels at C & V Performance.
  14. i thought the figure was about 140 awkw standard. My r32 GTR started with about that figure then i added a power FC and full 3inch exhaust and got it tuned, gave me 180 awkw then i fit an AVCR, HKS filters and screwed it to 1bar boost and it gave me 210 awkw. I also read that GTR's pull 140 awkw in standard form in an issue of Hi Performance Imports.
  15. I'd love to install N1 turbos but where do you find them?
  16. i think i will. i saw a pair of HKS step 2 cams for a GTR on ebay today for $900.00. Sounds like a plan
  17. forgort to mention the power fc (oops) but, yep, the figures are off the dyno chart done by C & V in 4wd mode.
  18. Has anyone had any experience with upgrading cams in an r32 GTR from stock? With standard turbos, intercooler, injectors, is there any point? Currently mine runs 210 stock at all 4 wheels except for 1 bar boost, filters, exhaust and im not sure whether a cam upgrade would give a power improvement.
  19. Can anyone tell me what the rear wheel kw figure would be if my GTR was making 210kw at all 4 wheels?
  20. I disagree. The plugs last for about 3 times as long as ordinary plugs, allow for a better spark and are recognised by every professional and GTR tuner ive ever spoken to. As for the HKS filters, if you care to look on the reverse side of the mushroom, you'll see a fine sponge type element underneath similar to the pipercross material. There is also a cold-air intake behind the passenger side headlight which should take care of any 'heat soak'. Pulling the boost restrictor out allows for volatile boost fluctuations. Its dodgy and causes boost spikes above the 1 bar 'safe' limit, so if you dont care about yr the possibility of yr turbor's failing, thats cool. If u own a GTR and yr gonna be a tightass about plugs, boost control and other aftermarket equipment, sell it and buy a WRX or something which doesnt require genuine race equipment.
  21. my advice is to prepare the groundwork - replace the plugs with platinums, regap to .8mil, check and replace the timing belt if necessary, adjust the timing to make sure u dont have any detonation due to a loose timing belt, especially with a 32 GTR. I bought mine last year and it was sluggish and totally stock. I changed the plugs as described, changed the timing belt and did an engine carbon clean. Once you sort that out and yr sure there are no probs with the heads, turbos and cooling system (pressure test is vital), the key is to get the air in and out of the engine fast with no restrictions, so change the filters (as you have done) using proper aftermarket stuff designed for the GTR, like HKS rampods. Use a full 3 inch exhaust system to remove backpressure (the standard system has 7 baffles and can cause up to 4psi backpressure at 5000 rpm!). Finally, install a fully programmable ECU like the APEXI Power FC, up the boost to just under 1 bar (safe level) and dyno. Your car will then rip the rubber off its tyres. Those are the things i did in that order and in 1st gear on a launch at 5000rpm all 4 wheels spin off the mark for about 5 meters on standard rims. Bang for buck? the full 3" exhaust, Power FC, AVCR Boost controller, HKS filters and dyno tuning cost me $4,600.00 ($1,500 for the Power FC, $550.00 for the AVCR near new, HKS filters $200.00, Hi Tech new exhaust $1,800.00 dyno costs approx $600.00 total). Timing belt was genuine Nissan for $120.00 and carbon clean (3 full flushes) about $250.00. Result? Standard 150kw at all 4 wheels to 210kw at all 4. Happy as Larry
  22. Any figures for your new torque output? I know the standard set-up allows for about 355Nm. Also, were the 2530's new or second hand? Who did the install and how long was your car off the road? What about a rough idea of the cost of install and turbo's? (ouch?) Im considering installing a similar set-up but maybe with some GT SS series twins.
  23. Oh, I forgot to mention that I had mine installed by C & V at Waterloo Sydney. Toook them about 3 hours to install. Also, try Unique Autosports in Castle Hill. Ive spoken to John Penlington there (owner) and he has laptop Power FC software he uses to tune the mixtures and play around with the standard AFM's to get them to take more load before hitting their maximum voltage etc. I found the service of Unique better and more friendly.
  24. I got my AVCR installed in my GTR, increased the boost to 1 bar and got the fuel mixtures tuned on the dyno for about $350.00 + GST. Theres no other way to go about it cheaper. If you dont use a dyno to get the tune right, you'll blow yr pistons cuz of the extra loads and leaner mixtures. The tuners who own dynos have got us by the balls. But you'll find that once the pain of the installation cost goes away, the AVCR is perfect - totally accurate adjustable boost and heaps of preferences to choose from. Looks unreal as well.
  25. Thanks for that. One other thing, i know the r32 GTR is good for about 13.5 down the quarter in stock form. Any idea what the set-up i have at the moment would possibly bring this down to?
