Now we're all waiting for Tracy Grimshaw to bring it up. Anyone know if he's a forum member? Sux to hear that it happened, hope he wasn't driving like a tool.

Uh - I have a W.A licence and had my licence suspended for three months thanks to my first skyline, being turbo in NSW, and even though I objected being that I had a W.A licence, I still got the suspension, fine, then he proceeded to defect me because I was being "uncooperative" So I dunno how it works. But there are ways around it I'd assume. But I got butt rumped hard. If your home address is in TAS, and you are required to move to NSW part time for Army, Navy or Air force, you essentially have an exemption right there mate. Your job required you live on site. You don't need to change your plates or licence being you don't formally live in NSW. That is if you are on base or in Defence Housing.

Ouch. :-(
-
Too late to appeal it now. :-(
-
Well the cop still did me in. The RTA said they could do it. So I dunno. Just annoyed is all, no warning, just full on butt f***ed me.
-
I actually have a W.A licence. Still got busted with a Turbo on p's when I first came to NSW though. Didn't know about the different laws a year ago. EEK.

Nah, I have a mates place as my mailing address when I am overseas, so legally I have a form of residential stability in the KnobheadPolitical Territory. Yeah a GTR was a main factor, but two commodores wiped out eight people in high speed P plate dickheadery. :-( Kids need to be taught respect and control for their vehicle. I drove a paddock basher as a kid, and raced on the Northern NSW dirt track loop derby scene for little while as a minor. I have done multiple offensive and defensive driving courses, and have my Bike licence, car licence, HR licence and Forklift licence. Yet I am not allowed to drive my GTR on my P's because of a group of uneducated morons who got to play with their daddy's cars. There needs to be a test for P platers to prove they are responsible and capable of driving special vehicles - But a no-modification rule in terms of performance must remain in effect, and said vehicles and drivers must be given regular tests to prove they can maintain themselves and their vehicle at all times appropriate to the australian road and pedestrian laws. Such as a window sticker Permit for people who have successfully proven themselves, it should be somewhat of a licence that is attached to them and their car. I think that is only fair - and if our government was intelligent enough - they would notice it would be another form of revenue raising. That being said, if it were a licence, it would also have points ontop of their normal licence. That if they acted like tools, or committed an road rule offence - points should be deducted from that licence to the point that if they did 20 over (eg.), got busted, they'd receive a fine, and points loss on that external licence, where if they lost that licence they would lose the privilege of owning said performance vehicle, and all ability to drive it. Thus being restricted down to normal non turbo sub 8 cylinder cars. But it would never work due to cops who would do it for the fun of it. And for the fact you get massive points loss for stupid offences - that is idiocy - because if the government wanted to create proper revenue - they wouldn't take the repeating offenders licence - they'd fine them heavier, and heavier, till they had to never drive again due to massive financial burden. That also being said, I believe all cars should pass a proper engineers inspection. There's some real dumbass modifications doing the rounds due to lack of proper build ability and cheapness. Three things - Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Cheap = bad in my book. If it's cheap it could potentially be dangerous, thus endangering you and others because of your carelessness for "Fully hektik, dose, hellaflush" crap. That's my rant over - back to the R32 Pics. And for the lolz.

Ok kewl - on the ac gear. Yeah... I found out about the rad support by opening my eyes.. duur... lol. Anyway, not yanking the donk out, it has a twin plate exedy clutch, less than 10,000km old. Just gonna try and do the head gasket, maybe arp head studs, a bit of top end tickling, some R34 N1 turbo's, or a pair of GT2860 -5's. Only shooting for 500hp, so the turbo's are overkill, just have to match the rest of the gear. Started doing parts research already. :-) Now just hoping I won the 240K on ebay. Mad clean little daily.

I SOOOOO wish I could go on a cruise. :-( Stupid commodores, ruining it for all the good P platers out there.
-
How about Canberra? It would allow those certain people with P plates... To y'know.. Legally drive their GTR. Hey - It ain't illegal to drive it while there. Thus I'm not being naughty.
-
Aaand no help there. mmkay.
-
Awwmigawd, you can get the manifolds off while it's in the car. Skinned knuckles here I come.
-
Yeah, but I just bump mine a little hard and it wobbles like a mofo. lol Yeah I am re routing things, only aircon an useless piping/hard piping etc. I hope the GTR will crank without the Aircon controller, etc in it. Eek. I ripped it all out today, pulled the fuses and relays, etc. My old Supra wouldn't start with the aircon controls pulled out.
-
Oh, and I don't trust the jack stands to hold the car while I'm under it. /Previous bad experience with a Falcon.
-
Everything is coming out of the engine bay for a clean and replacement if necessary. If I wanted to JUST do the head gasket, I would have paid to have it done. Everything is being stripped back to the metal, I wanna make it all clean, reroute a few things, etc.
-
Okey doke - all the Alarm systems are completely cut out of the GTR. All the aircon system is out bar the main cables and heater bar setup. Pulled everything away from the front of the car so the engine and 'box can be slid forwards to split them. Just have to disconnect all hoses, plugs etc to be able to yank the donk out. Gonna need help to put it all back together eventually though. Anyway. 2 AM, and I need sleepz.

Quickest Semi Reliable Car For Around 10K?
RBMunkie replied to hop1308's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Zed's are quite good as this man says. Most people just flog them and complain when something breaks. Rip the engine out, tighten it all up, metal gaskets, a couple of slightly bigger turbo's, up the boost and put a 3" exhaust on it and drive that. They sound AWESOME with a good exhaust, and when you put your foot on the loud pedal. Darn-Diddly-arn-it. They sound tarn, tootin' amazing. I'd use real swear words. But that's a No No. And Zeds aren't as bad as people say with the "engine out" issues. As bad to work on as a GTR. Just gotta be a little patient. VG motors can handle quite a lot, and make power faster stock than a Skyline will. /FLAME SUIT IS ON. -
Quickest Semi Reliable Car For Around 10K?

HEY! They only fail because people fail to warm them up and cool them down properly. And the seals are EXACTLY like a 100,000km service, just you have to actually pull the engine apart to do them. I've owned two rotors both with over 200,000km's on them, one was the original motor and had the seals replaced at both 100,000km marks, ran like a dream and never gave me an issue. Then I bought a GTS-T Skyline... Yeesh. Own a GTR now, and have a daily Subaru Impreza. Wish I still had a rotor, but I currently can't afford the fuel due to heavy traffic in the city. Don't wanna watch my fuel gauge go from a full tank to a 1/4 of a tank in 150 meters. Anyway, if you want something sporty, small, and good on fuel, get a Datsun to keep it in the nissan family, plenty can be had in good condition, like a 260z for around 9 grand that are decent cars, little Datto 1200 utes go for around five, drop an SR20DET in it and chuck skids and have decent fuel economy. Or, do as I suggested and build your existing car, being that it's only a GTT, may as well go dog balls nuts on it. -
Moooore pictures. :-D Sucks about the stack though, she looked mint.
-
Okey doke. So unbolt the donk and box, disconnect tail shaft and bring the engine and box forward a few inches and crack the bell housing bolts?
-
I wanted box out with engine - which is why the front rad support is coming out if it can. If not I'll have to split them.
-
Well I have to buy an engine stand. lol
-
DAMNIT. I knew it. Engine out. :-\

Spotted GTR-99V driving through Hornsby just on 3 pm. Was following you in my white Scoobaroo. lol
