I do abit of ecu remapping and i'm pretty sure mines chips are just standard remaps except done by mines, you can get the data off the chip if your car has a consult interface, and burn a modified version of it to a new chip and put it in another ecu, but removing the chip to reprogram it without damaging the chip or the board is quite impossible. because aussie fuel is different ron you would be much better off getting a decent remap utilising a dyno. IMHO people only buy mines comps for the wank factor, "its got a mines ecu, woooo" also imo aftermarket ecus dont offer all that much more tuning options, just the fact that they are easier to tune.

car insurance before compliance
midnight replied to R324DR's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
NXTIME, I went into the RTA to ask about a cover note or a permit and the ladies told me there was no such thing and I had to take it to the nearest blue slip place, they couldnt comprehend that the car needed to be complied and the nearest for me is hornsby which is still about a 30min drive. have you actually got a link to an rta article stating the laws or spoken directly to an authority about it? -

what I really want to know is do the compliance workshops write up the certificate based on the work theyve done, or based on the whole car, ie can they refuse to issure a certificate based on defectable modifications that are on the car? my car has a fullcage but I was planning on getting it complied and registered with no cage as a 4seater then putting the back half of the cage back in and driving it as a 2 seater, except the cage is jap so its not too legal. problem is that back half of the cage is welded in, so its abit hard for me to take out. Im thinking I could get it complied as a 2 seater (put a fixture in the back) but as the cage is not legal im wondering weather the compliance place will refuse to do it. so can they just write up a certificate without the cage listed (as if its not there)?

ok um, get rid of the lense fares, way too tacky, if you are going to have flares keep them real small, they look more realistic then

yeah i posted on ns, last time I went to the rta they didnt understand about imported cars and insisted the closest blue slip place would do it... It ended with 3 middle-aged ladies ganging up and telling me im wrong and yelling at me, followed by me swearing alot and walking out, waiting 45min sucks.

Petrol stations, turbo timers and idiots!

mythbusters is not always 100% correct... the scarey thing tho was that you are more likely to start a fire via static dischrage if u get back and out of ur car when ur filling up, then touch the car when ur taking the pump out. -

midnight replied to Impakt's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I have spent the last hour researching it and am having trouble finding wheather the ecu has the Tx Rx and clk. The only ecu diagrams I have don't have them listed. I have also heard of a guy with a datto 1600 running a ca18det who has hooked up a consult port -
you have some absolutely amazing illustration in that gallery, but this logo, I feel that using arial cheapens it dramatically..

curious - nissan "consult" programmer
midnight replied to Nozila's topic in General Automotive Discussion
there is alot of third party colsult software out there and via connecting the consult port to a computer, You can monitor everything in realtime and log and graph things do a google on it -
the only way I can think of to do it would be to take photos of the car with the doors open, so you can see the interior then take a few photos of different angles of the door, and paste it and remove the old door

The Biggest Brain Explosion Ever!!!
midnight replied to rednut's topic in General Automotive Discussion
One time I toped up some oil, put the oil back in the garage and shut my engine lid, thing is I forgot to tighten the oil cap, driving to my mates and driving back to my house I noticed my car was blowing abit of smoke, jumped out and theres oil all over the boot and rear window, and the cap is gonzo. Spent the best part of a day degreasing it. another one was my mates car was misfiring so he pops the bonnet and looks around, "ahh thats the problem, a plug lead is loose" so he goes and grabs it, while the car is running... absolutely shocking (boom, tish) -
