It was mentioned in an earlier issue that HPI would be using the Aristo as a project car of sorts. I think the purpose of the test drive/drag article was 2-fold in that they were able to do their test drive on the stocker whilst also laying some sort of benchmark to compare their future mods against. Funnily enough, I received my new HPI in the mail the other day and no mention of the Aristo in this issue (unless I'm blind which isn't entirely impossible ) Good luck with the project B-Man

Thinking about it - thought it might be good given that State of Origin is on.

Thought I'd just add my 2 cents worth, not because I've ever smoked, but moreso because I work for the market leading Pharma company in the smoking cessation category and might be able to help point people who are thinking about quitting in the right direction (not intended to be a sales pitch though). As most would know, there are 2 main products available to aid quit attempts: 1) Patches 2) Oral Dose - e.g Lozenges/Gum Both forms are generally as effective as each other, the difference really lies in the approach you want to take in managing your quit attempt to make it most effective for you. Patches deliver a steady dose of nicotine throughout the day, so they'd suit someone who prefers a 'once a day' type routine. The pattern of nicotine supply is different to what you'd experience with a cigarette as nicotine is absorbed slowly through the skin and into the blood stream. It doesn't give the type of hit you'd get from having a smoke which means that they're very safe and the risk of addiction is practically nil. Patches also have the benefit of being convenient and discreet, whilst also hitting off morning cravings (provided you use a 24hour patch and keep it applied throughout the night). The main benefit of Oral Dose (i.e Lozenges etc) is that it gives people active control over their quit attempt by allowing them to take a dose whenever they have a craving. Effectively the idea is that you pop a lozenge each time you feel like a smoke. I think this method of quitting is pretty effective for the type of person who needs to replace the routine of having a cigarette with something else (i.e someone who isn't necessarily addicted, but smokes out of habit). The lozenges also have some weight control claims, so they're also good for people who are concerned that they may put on weight if they quit the fags. Also, when choosing a form of oral dose, it's generally accepted that lozenges are more effective than gum mainly due to the fact that there's supposedly a particular method for chewing the gum and also because you don't get the full dose with gum (due to the fact the gum doesn't dissolve in your mouth). At the end of the day, the above methods will only aid your quit attempt, but they won't help you quit on their own. The rest of the job is up to the individual. Anyway, hope that helps. If anyone wants anymore info, let me know. (and for those that are interested, Wendy's a real person - strange but true).

Webber has qualified P3 - hopefully his qualifying effort is more due to good driving as opposed to running very light. Looking good for tomorrow in any case 1. M.SCHUMACHER Ferrari 1m13.898s 2. Compak Attak This Sunday 21st May
ECR033 replied to NXTIME's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Agreed - was just trying to make the point that the sport needs spectators to survive, therefore it's important to keep the interests of spectators front of mind.At the end of the day, 99% of non-sponsored racers all build their cars for the same reason - it's all about the enjoyment derived from racing (and everything associated with it) and not much else, so no arguments there. Just need to be aware that there's more to the sport than just the racers. -

No offense intended mate, but to disregard the role spectators play in our sport is a little short sighted. Having spectators is more than just a 'bonus'...drag racing as it is today would struggle to survive without them.I understand the point you raise about building your car to race and be fastest on the day, afterall that's what racing is all about. But without spectators, there would be no money in the coffers, no sponsorships, no promoters, no prize money, no motivation for workshops to build race cars to promote their businesses and directly as a result, very little racing. At the end of the day, it's a self serving prophecy...you need to attract spectators to ensure the sport survives, whilst you need to ensure the sport provides quality racing/entertainment to get bums on seats. Again, not having a go at anyone, but unfortunately it's not quite as simple as just saying that 'racing is racing'. Anyway, back on topic, I thought the day was generally pretty good. Great to see some very fast cars out there having a go - Ivan Tesic's torrie was an absolute highlight. With regard to the Theo incident, whilst it was unfortunate that he got disqualified, I don't think there can be any complaints about the decision. Sure, the other racer could have waited to stage or the starter give some leniency, but at the end of the day, everything that happened was legitimately within the rules, therefore I think it's just one of those unfortunate incidents where someone ends up on the wrong side of the stick so to speak. -
Nice one! Looks great Any other mods or mechanically standard? Either way, looks like a great buy. Good luck with it.
-
Tell me about it I pm'd the bloke about the seats within an hour of the thread going up (just wanting a pic to confirm the condition before going ahead with the purchase) and I still didn't get them... BUGGER!
-
Not really "Forced Induction Performance" is it? You would have also found a heap of threads on this if you bothered to do a search For the record, I'm insured with Shannon's - modified R33 - good record - 25yrs old - $1400/yr
-
How many threads do we need about Compack Attack lol... I'll be there spectating, lots of quick Skylines running, so should be a good day.
-
When you say 'safety equipment', are you referring to running 10's or 11's (different licence again once you run a 10 right?). Is there a website where they've listed the requirements etc.I've had a quick look at the ANDRA site, but it isn't very user friendly...
-
Surprisingly, no. That being said, it was towards the end of the night, so maybe I was lucky to slip through under the radar. I'll have to get it eventually though as I only intend on going quicker...

Improved my PB last night R33 GTST 11.945 @ 118.27mph

I'll be there spectating Seems like there'll be some decent cars running - SEE HERE I think SRWD and PRO/R will be the ones to watch -
Ben summed it up well My first few runs were absolute shockers. I couldn't get any grip and I was bogging the car down badly. Times aren't even worth mentioning. After a few decent burnouts, I finally started getting some grip off the line and as a result my 60" times dropped to between 1.8-2.0 which translated into several passes getting progressively quicker from 12.5 to 12.0. And finally, on my last run of the night, I nailed my first 11 (not ground braking territory I know, but it was still something that I was aiming to achieve with the car, so I was pretty chuffed) - 11.945 @ 118.27mph (60" - 1.816). I think there's still room for improvement, so I'll be back out there in a few weeks - love it
-
Interesting night for me... Started off with a few shocking passes, but eventually nailed a few PB's in the low 12's, then finally got that 11 sec pass on my last run of the night - 11.949 @ 118mph I'm stoked! Nice to meet you 4door GTR (didn't get your name) and thanks for the numerous tips Ben - got there eventually mate

Anyone Here On Nissansilvia.com?
ECR033 replied to stolen_s15's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think the point 'stolen s15' is trying to make is that you can't post on the NS.com for sale forums unless you have 100 posts or something like that. I'm sure he can log on, but probably doesn't have the 100 posts to his name and therefore is looking for someone who does have the 100 posts to post his for sale thread for him. -
I had the clutch made up by Direct Clutch in Brisbane. I'll be using M/T ET Street Drag Radials (not slicks) - 255/50/16's on 300zx rims I'll definately post up results
-
Not sure if this is applicable for R34's, but I believe that the O2 sensor off a Nissan Maxima is compatible on R33's, can't see why it wouldn't fit on R34's though. Please don't treat this as gospel though, it's just something I remember hearing a little while ago and may be worth checking out.
