I'm pretty sure you're talking about a different car. I think you'll find that the car Bezerkly was referring to with the 35/40 has the plates 'RNMENC' and it ain't black! Nice car though, saw it at the SAU NSW dyno day. Just to add another option to the debate, my car made 286.5rwkw at the SAU dyno day with similar mods to yours using an externally gated GT3040R (.82ar exhaust housing) at 17psi. Full boost by 4400rpm, so a little more laggy than std, but the boost comes on progressively, so it's still very streetable. As for 1/4 mile - i'm running it tomorrow night, but have done a 12.6 @ 116mph with a badly slipping clutch and a 2.1 60" time. I've now installed a twin plate, so I'm hopeful that it's at least got a low 12 in it (perhaps an 11 if all goes well).

No Of Skylines Imported Into Australia?
ECR033 replied to ECR033's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for the insight... There was never any mention of getting an exact figure - just interested in a ballpark estimate. Call it curiosity -
Where abouts are they located Adam? I'm thinking about getting my front bar on my girlfriends car resprayed...

All the more reason to race then as less cars supposedly = more runs. That being said, I still think you'll find a decent amount of cars there this Wednesday testing for Compack Attack on Sunday. Should be a good night

No Of Skylines Imported Into Australia?
ECR033 replied to ECR033's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Talk about precision! Thanks! Just wanted to ask, is that number for Skylines only? Or private imports in general? Either way, that's a huge number of cars...I was thinking perhaps 20,000 Skylines, but it seems like I was way off Yes, much better now -
For some reason, I've always wondered how many Skylines have been privately imported into Australia, but never really had a clue. Given that one of my workmates actually asked me this question this morning during one of our 'water cooler' meetings, I thought I'd try and find out... Would anyone have a ballpark figure (possibly by model)???

Hey All, Is anyone keen to head out to WSID this Wednesday night? I'll be there giving my new clutch a bit of a thrash with hopefully the end result being a new PB Feel free to come say g'day if anyone sees me (I drive a stocky looking silver R33). So who's in?

Hi guys, I've just had a new twin plate clutch with a solid centre (from Direct Clutch in Brisbane) installed in my R33 over the weekend, but have noticed that it makes a noticeable grinding noise particularly in 3rd and 4th gears when under load at low revs (between 2000-2500rpm). Is this normal??? The noise is a bit intermittent as it doesn't seem to occur all the time (more often than not though), but it doesn't seem to affect the way the car drives or feels even when it's making the grinding noise. Otherwise, the clutch seems to be working fine and clamping well. I'm going to speak with my mechanic tomorrow, but as I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to clutches, hopefully someone can clarify whether it does sound like I have a problem and if so, what the cause may be. Thanks guys

Can't really help, but points 4 & 5 seem a little rough. Technically speaking, I guess each point mentioned could be seen as a defect, but they must have really had it in for you if they went to the effort of checking all those minor little things... Good luck getting it all sorted.

I won't be out there till next week now, but may still come and watch tonight depending on what time I get out of the office this arvo

I have a '97 R33 AFM. I think it's the same - it has the pink sticker. PM me if you're interested.

Must give this track day business a go...definately interested, will confirm a little closer to the cut off date all going well

Just to elaborate further on my post above, I think this event has the potential to be a success because it does have a lot going for it... * It has a good naming sponsor in Toyo and therefore some decent prizes on offer which is a bonus * Prizemoney should be a good incentive (for those who need it) to hopefully get a LOT of cars out there racing * ProRWD is starting to get more competitive with Rotomaster's Camrydore set to challenge PAC's MX6 for outright ET/mph honors * There's a lot of other stuff going on at the event (SnS, DB Sound Off etc) for those who aren't 100% obsessed just with drag racing The thing that worries me is that I haven't heard a thing about the event through the media, haven't seen any advertising for the event, haven't got my usual mailout from WSID advising of the event and nor have I heard many people talking about it. I haven't seen an entry list, so I'm not sure how many cars have entered (granted the event is still a few weeks away), I just hope there's a good turnout of competitors to put on a decent spectacle for the crowd. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that this is a good opportunity for Sydney people to get into Sport Compact, I just hope the promoters really get out there (as best as they can) and make people aware of the event. Sport Compact is a great product, but it won't be a success if they don't get bums on seats and some good racing. More info for those thinking about giving it a go -> SEE HERE

Yes, I'm aware that Ray Box is 'promoting' the event which is great given his success with Jamboree, but what sort of actual promotion (i.e through media for example) is actually happening to attract spectators and competitors to this event? Not having a go at anyone, I'm just genuinely curious...
-
Perhaps someone in the know can answer this, but what's the likely turn out of racers for this event? I raced at the last Sport Compact event at WSID and enjoyed the experience (despite the fact I had car trouble!), but from a turnout perspective, of both racers and spectators, it was pretty dissapointing to say the least (which is pretty understandable given that 'stuff all' promo was done for the event). ...just hoping that this one will be a little better

Thanks for the links Anthos. Unfortunately, I've got iTunes version 6, so it looks like I'll have to resort to burning to CD and then converting back to MP3 which will be a pain in the ar5e

And their last championship was when?I don't disagree that Williams are fighters, they just don't have the financial punch/resources that they used to have back in the day. In all seriousness, Honda/Button are Williams biggest sponsor this year (thanks to Buttongate) such is Williams' predicament at the moment.
-
I think you're right about Kovalienen (sp?) possibly getting one Renault seat, but Fisi is off contract at the end of the year, and the way he's going, he might get the boot as well, so the door may be open for Webber???
-
In where? Briscoe has pidgeon-holed himself with Toyota, so therefore the chances of him getting a race drive with them are pretty slim these days (given their preference to go with overpaid "has been's").
-
I wish he would - I don't know why he continues to persist with Williams when Renault clearly have the winning formula. Webber is off contract at the end of the year, Rosberg is a young prodigy (who I doubt Frank Williams will want to let go) and Wurz was supposedly promised a race drive for 07. 2 into 3 doesn't fit, so hopefully Webber sees the light and looks at the possibility of going to Renault if the seat remains available to him. Webber used to test for Renault (or Benetton as they were back then) so it baffles me why he didn't go there in the first place - perhaps there was/is some sort of private rift there with a certain aspect of the team that we don't publicly know about???

It's impossible to ignore the blantant JB bias during the ITV forecasts. It's a joke! JB is by far the most overated driver in F1. The commentator's and press (and even JB himself) go on like he's a potential F1 world champ, yet the buffoon has yet to even remotely put himself in a position to challenge for a GP win, let alone a championship. And all this in a car that was topping the time sheets in testing and should surely be up there challenging for wins. Simple answer - JB, you're shite! As for the Australian commentators, everyone knows that they're a bunch of dills (except for Crompton who has half an idea), so their Webbo bias shouldn't be any surprise. I just wish either (a) Webber had a decent car so we could see what he's really made of, or (b) that he had JB as his teammate at Williams this year so he could show him up for the lame arse driver that he really is. Hopefully the Williams reliability problems will go away as Webber (and Rosberg) have been showing some encouraging performances during the last few races (reliability issues aside).

Spotted gunmetal grey R32 'GTR-324' parked on Hughes Avenue, Ermington - outside the front of my office (seen it there a fair bit lately)
