Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
ECR033 replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I also picked my car up today, so I thought I'd share my results R33 GTS25t (Standard Internals) GCG GT3040R (0.82 exhaust housing) Turbonetics 40mm external wastegate HKS Exhaust Manifold Nismo 555cc injectors Walbro Fuel Pump Blitz LM FMIC Greddy Profec B Spec II EBC Apexi Power FC Splitfire Ignition Coils HKS Adj Ex Cam gear Z32 AFM Apexi Power Intake 3" turbo back exhaust w/hi flow cat 282.9 kw @ 17psi I think there's probably still more power to be made, but I really didn't want to push for any more with standard internals. The tune was kept a little rich in the top end to try and keep it safe. Overall, the setup isn't as laggy as I thought it would be (starts making boost around 3500rpm with 17psi by 4400rpm) so you could say i'm very happy with the results - MRC in Castle Hill did a great job -
LOL - that's exactly what I was thinking when I watched it. He may as well have been sitting in the passenger seat once he lost it. Also had to laugh as I have that exact same helmet, so it's a bit of a worry!

How many cars are you expecting to turn up? I may come down to have a look if it's worthwhile

I guess you can always trade the old versions in when you buy the new version. I think Electronics Boutique gives you a pretty good discount off new games when you trade in old ones... I don't really play many games on my X-box other than buying FIFA every year. FIFA06 is pretty good and an improvement on 05 in most areas. My mates got both FIFA06 and Pro Evo soccer 5 and reckons that is Pro Evo is heaps better though...

There's an article on ethanol blended fuels in this months HPI. I haven't read it yet though, so i'll reserve judgement for the time being

Bloody awesome!!! I'm still recovering from last night lol

I bought my helmet from Motorcycle Accessories Warehouse in Parramatta. They've got an excellent range, prices from around $100 for something basic up to $800+ for something top of the line. Definately worth a look.

I'm also interested (depending on the dates) - I've always wanted to do one of these

Any idea of cost of entry? I'd be keen to have a go - never raced in one of these events before. -

What Performance Times Should I Expect
ECR033 replied to gdogzgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I very much doubt it would do high 10's with 310awkw to be honest. More likely to do high 11's to flat 12's with that sort of power... -
LMAO...because it's true

That's the RWD list There's a separate list for 4wd

You're right Paul, they'll definately be tuning the car from scratch because of all the new mods. I just wanted to make sure that they'll be able to get access to the base maps by resetting the PFC and am slightly worried that resetting the PFC might not overide the password protection and give me access to the HC and maps again. My tuner is fairly confident that reinitialising the PFC should basically return it to stock and return access to HC. I just hope he's right... I should find out before the end of the week...but I'm going to try and contact the original tuner again tomorrow in any case.

That's awesome - especially considering the heat and the fact that it's first time out since rebuild (if i've followed the logic correctly!) Well done mate

Thanks guys - I tried chasing Adrian up today, but he wasn't there this morning (couldn't call this arvo as I had an exam). Hopefully I can get this all sorted as my car is sitting in bits in the workshop at the moment and won't be going anyway till I can get access to the PFC
-
They tuned it early this year. He definately had a laptop plugged into the PFC and I'm 99% sure he told me that he was using the Apexi software to tune it. I know it was locked as I when I accessed the settings via the HC, all I could see were 0's and I couldn't make any changes. I asked him about why he locked the PFC when I went there later for something else and he told me it was done to prevent anyone from making changes to the tune (basically to protect himself if something went wrong on the car and I blamed the tune). It didn't worry too much as I wouldn't have touched the tune anyway and I was always under the impression that no password was used anyway (as per Sydneykid's example above) and that by using the software you could access it if need be. Obviously, not the case...

Urgent help needed! Does anyone have contact details for either Kristof or Adrian who used to be the tuners at RUF Performance? They both tuned my car when I originally got my PFC earlier this year, but it seems like they've password protected the ECU and now my current tuner cannot get access to the maps etc. I need their contact details urgently. I've tried calling their phone number, but I was told they went out of business and the company that's taken over from them (TODA Racing) doesn't have their contact details. My car is currently sitting in another workshop about to get new turbo, fuel system, afm etc fitted, but they can't do anything if they can't access the PFC. If anyone know's anything and can help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, if anyone know's a way around the password protection on the PFC, that would also help. Many thanks guys... Brenden

Unfortunately, you can password protect the PFC. I've just found this out first hand Can anyone please confirm if you can regain access to the tuning maps of a locked PFC by resetting the ecu via the hand controller? My car is currently sitting in a workshop, ready to get new turbo, afm and fuel system, but they can't do anything if they can't access the PFC. I've tried calling the original tuner, but the business is no longer there and the new owners don't have his contact details (RUF Perfomance, Ingleburn - Kristof or Adrian). Can anyone please help me!!!

Just Cars premium's weren't too bad, but their excesses are absolutely ridiculous. Just to compare quotes for my 97 R33 GTST (24 y/o, 60%NCB, good driving record, Sydney)... I pay just over $1500/year ($500 excess max) with Shannons. Just Cars quoted me $1650/year ($1800 excess, plus extra for wheels and stereo). In addition, Shannon's allowed me to determine an agreed value for the car much higher than what Just Cars would allow. They also allow me to choose my own repairer in the case of an accident and they also provide pay by the month....Just Cars don't do either. Additionally, Just Cars screwed me over when I asked for a refund on a policy which I had on another car. They refused to refund me and instead were only prepared to issue me with a credit note. I threatened to contact the department of fair trading and funnily enough, eventually got my refund. I'd only ever use Just Cars again if I didn't have a choice.

I doubt Just Cars have stopped providing cover notes. If you need a cover note, call them and advise that you wish to start an insurance policy. Once you've given all the details, you can then ask to have the policy sent to you. At that time, they'll activate your policy and give you 14 days to pay. Obviously, if you don't pay within the 14 days then your insurance/cover note will be cancelled. I personally think Just Cars are a ripoff though and I don't deal with them anymore myself. I've got my car insured with Shannon's these days
