  1. Thanks for the advice mate. Must be getting lazy in my old age, didn't even think to do a search lol. I'll definately do one now though.
  2. I've done about 5,000kms since I bought my Skyline, so its about time to do an oil and filter change (previous owner had the car serviced just before I bought it). So I was just wondering what oil and filter people would recommend for the Skyline. I regularly used Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a basic Ryco filter for my old car and thought it did the job well, but I've heard from quite a few people that Motul is the go for Skyline's. Can anyone confirm? Also, what viscosity oil is best to use? Thanks for the help.
  3. Probably just making an example of them to dissuade others from doing the same thing. Prett stupid thing to do really, although it's a little harsh on the pit crew if the driver did it off his own bat.
  4. yogi000, Few questions.. Where did you buy your FMIC from? Was size is the actual intercooler? Was it easy to fit? That's a pretty good price for the whole kit...i'l have a look into as well. Thanks mate.
  5. I'll speak to them and see what they say about it. Have to admit that it does look good with the polished pipes, although I'm not sure if I want to outlay the extra cash just on the basis of appearance. If you do get yours any time soon, let us know how you go with it mate. Thanks for the replies so far, they've been helpful. Any other thoughts? Brenden.
  6. Thanks for the comments guys. LANFOH, I don't live to far away from UAS, so I might go and speak to them about their kit (I had a quick look on their website and it looked ok...although I'm not sure what exactly I'm looking for). It is a little pricey though, will the extra outlay be worth it given what I aiming for with the car? As for installation, I have a mate who used to be a mechanic who's offered to give me a hand to install it so I'm all sorted from that perspective which is good. Birnie, What intercooler did you end up purchasing? How much did it end up costing you if you don't mind me asking? I'm also keen to get it set up and dyno tuned once I get my PFC...i'm curious to see what amount of power it will eventually produce. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks again. Cheers, Brenden.
  7. Hi All, I'm in the process of trying to find myself a FMIC for my R33 GTS-T and due to lacking a bit of knowledge in this area, I'm finding it a little difficult to ascertain which FMIC to purchase. I've been looking through the multitude of threads on the forums regarding intercooler choice and it's provided me with a fair bit of info on specific intercoolers, but I haven't found anything really definitive on value for money intercoolers. I've currently only got a Mines ECU (soon to be replaced with a PFC), 3" exhaust from dump pipe back and K&N panel filter on my car running standard boost. I'm basically aiming to eventually get 200rwkw running 12psi out of the car (will get a dyno tune once PFC arrives and FMIC is fitted), so I'm not aiming for huge power or anything like that. What would be examples of good value for money FMIC's for my current/potential set up? I'm looking to spend approx $1500 for the entire kit (obviously spending less to get same results would be better) and I'd prefer to get something that's a straight-in fit as opposed to having to stuff around trying to get everything in place. I've seen the Blitz LM kits at Autobarn for around $1600 which I thought wasn't too bad for a Japanese brand name cooler (although I know you can probably get them cheaper direct from Greenline or Nengun). Also noticed that a lot of people mention the Hybrid kits these days...are they also good value for money? I've also been told the the GTR FMIC is good enough to do the job as well although I guess I'm a little skeptical about buying something second hand when I don't have too much experience with the particular item. If that is the best way to go, what should I expect to pay and where could I get the pipe work done to get it fitted? Sorry for the long post, as you can see I'm a little confused lol  Any help would be great. Thanks, Brenden.
  8. Condolences to the family and friends of those killed in the accident...it always a sad day when someone looses their life in an accident like this, regardless of the circumstances. What a waste of life though...hopefully others will learn from the tragic mistake that these people made. If you want to race or push your car to the limit, then for the sake of your passengers and other road users, please do it in a safe environment on a race track.
  9. I also have ZE326's on my R33 (came with the car) and they're pretty average...I'll definately be steering clear of them in future and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I can vouch for what silva33 said above, I've got 255/40/17's on the rears and despite that, they are shocking in the wet and spin even at low rev take offs.
  10. I'm pretty much in the same position as Guilty except that I also have a Mines ECU (which I've been told is unprogramable), so this thread is pretty much exactly the advice I've been looking for. I'm in the process of also looking for a FMIC at the moment, so I'm pretty much convinced that I'm taking the right path by going for the PFC now as well. I'll probably get a bleed valve for the time being and then get it dyno tuned and see how we go. What type of power would I be looking at with these mods? Would around 200rwkw be realistic? Thanks for the help
  11. Yeah I managed to fill up at the BP in Rydalmere despite the fact the wanker across the road at the Mobil told me that both themselves and the BP didn't have any premium... I also noticed that they had both 95 and 98 RON unleaded as well
  12. Hi Lucien, I guess I'm also convinced... Put me down for one also if its not to late - '97 R33 GTS25T S2 Thanks mate. Cheers, Brenden.
  13. I'm interested as well, although I'd probably like to find out more info about them with regards to potential performance gains as I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to Skylines. I recently bnought a R33 GTS-25T S2 with a Mines ECU, but apparantly these are non-programable...can anyone confirm this? Otherwise I've only got mimimal performance mods (i.e exhaust from dump pipe back) and I'm in the process of looking into getting a FMIC. I have no problem outlaying the money, I guess I just some feedback from those in the know who can vouch that it's worth the spend. If so (and it seems that it probably is), then I'm keen. Let us know when the cut off time is to take up the offer and I'll give a definate yay or nay then. Thanks in advance for any help.
  14. It must be effecting all premium fuels in Sydney, I went to the Mobil on Victoria Rd at Rydalmere this morning and they had no Synergy 8000. Apparantly the BP across the road didn't have any Ultimate either. Does anyone know of anywhere where you can get 98RON fuel around the Parramatta area. I'm pretty much running on empty and don't like the idea of having to use regular unleaded.
  15. I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow either due to having to make an unexpected trip to the dentist...stupid fillings! If it doesn't take too long, I may still rock up and see if it's possible to put the car on the dyno or just to have a look see if there isn't any spots available. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  16. Thought I'd still post up how I went (even though the topic's gone a bit pear shaped lol ) Ended up with a best ET of 14.501 @ 97.22mph R/T - .611 60' - 2.318 330' - 6.240 660' - 9.436 1000' - 12.179 Was pretty happy with that considering that I was a drag racing virgin driving a relatively stock Skyline running standard boost. Hopefully I'll do a little better next time with a few more mods and some practice launching the thing
  17. I'll be running at WSID tonight (first time!). I only bought the car a short while ago and it's reasonably stock at present. I'm not sure what type of time to expect, I just wanted to give the car a run to see how it fairs and to get a base time so I have something to compare against once I make a few mods in the future and run it down the track again. I'm fairly new here, so I haven't met any of you guys yet...so if you see a guy driving a Silver R33 Series II looking a little lost, feel free to say hi, it would be cool to meet up Cheers, Brenden
  18. I've just recently purchased a R33 Series II GTS25t with the following mods - 3" exhaust from dump pipe, Mine's ECU, K&N panel filter and HD clutch (brass button apparantly). I would like the get a bit more power out of the car and I have $1k - $2k available to spend on the car at the moment. I was curious as to what you guys would suggest as the most beneficial mods I could make to the car within my budget for the moment. Thanks
  19. Good stuff - I'll be there then Thanks mate
  20. I just bought my Series II R33 last week and would be keen to have the car quickly looked over and put on the dyno to see what power it's making at the wheels. Is it alright to tag along? Cheers, Brenden
  21. Thanks mate Those were the type of recommendations from experience that I was looking for - bit sick of hearing hearsay rubbish originating from baseless rumours. Might go check out both dealers again on the weekend (time permitting). Northshore Prestige also have a nice looking silver Series II for sale. I appreciate the comments
  22. Yep, I had a quick look at that car on Saturday. It looked pretty tidy - pretty much along the lines of what I was after. Is $22,500 a good price for a stock R33? It seems fairly reasonable for a dealer, although it's more than what I've seen advertised privately. Also, how reputable are UAS? I've read of a few differing stories about them in the past...don't know how true the stories were though. Can anyone recommend them as a good place to buy a vehicle from?
  23. Hi Everyone, Newbie here...so excuse the questions if they seem a little stupid (great site by the way). I've recently started looking for an R33 Series II GTS to replace my current ride. I've been a fan of the R33's for a while, but haven't had too much personal experience with them (or imports generally) in the past so I'm being a bit cautious with this particular purchase. I've seen a few cars that have caught my attention in dealerships (i.e Unique Auto Sports, Castle Hill & North Shore Prestige, Balgowlah) but I've noticed they are a fair bit more expensive than those advertised privately (generally looking for something that's relatively stock for the time being). I guess my question is...is it worth paying a little extra and buying from a dealer when dealing with imports to get things like warranty etc or am I fairly safe on the whole when buying privately? I know you guys probably can't bag out particular dealers on a public forum (perhaps PM me if you have had a bad experience with either of the dealers mentioned), but I'd be interested in hearing of anyone's good experiences with any Sydney dealers (particularly the one's I mentioned earlier). Also, if someone could give me a general idea of what they would expect to pay for a relatively stock Series II R33 GTS and anything in particular to be wary of when looking for an R33, that would be great (I've been looking around the low to mid $20's). Thanks for the help
