Sport Compact Drag Racing (compak Attak) - Wsid

From what I've seen previously, you'd have to expect to get at least 3 qualifying runs, plus your elimination run (assuming you qualify), although these Ray Box events seem to run a little different than the traditional Andra events we're used to having. Qualifying for Sport RWD, AWD, FWD and Sport Bikes is a single session which runs from 10am - 12.45pm (as opposed to the qualifying rounds for each bracket). Given that the session runs for nearly 3 hours, I think it would be safe to say there'd be ample time for a lot more than 3 runs. To give some idea, apparently quite a lot of guys did 5 - 6 qualifying runs at Mini Jam earlier in the year, and at a guess, I'd say they would have had more competitors there than what will rock up at WSID, so hypothetically you'd have to expect at least the same amount of runs this time round (i.e 5-6, plus eliminations for those that qualify). Not too bad really... Perhaps someone in the know can clarify? -
Thought I may as well throw this up to try spark some interest... Aside from the stupid event name (why do they persist lol), here's hoping this turns out to be a good day of Sport Compact Drag Racing with all the other usual shenanigans that go along with the Ray Box events. Is anyone keen?

I doubt the weather will keep people away unless it actually rains and gets cancelled. I raced on Good Friday when the weather was dodgy (it did end up pissing down later) and the queue of cars going through the competitors entrance was out onto Ferrers Road. My advice is to get there early if you plan on racing. If the weather looks ok, I'll be there I don't think they prep'd the track before the Good Friday street meet either - although, after a few big hp v8's did slalom runs down the track, they put some sort compound down (and preceeded to waste over 30mins of racing time )You'd think they'd learn...

Is it too late to sneak in another order for a SII R33 GTST? If not, please drop me a PM and I'll send the through the payment and mailing details asap. Cheers Brenden

I'll also be heading out to WSID Advice - get there early if you're racing. I got to WSID 15 mins after the gates opened on Good Friday and both lines for competitors were out onto Ferrers Road. I assume it's safe to expect that next Wednesday will be no different.

To answer your questions in order... 1) The wires to the cluster use connectors - just need to pop them out 2) I didn't calibrate my speedo when I installed my Nismo dash, but i did do some sanity checks - i.e checked the speed displayed on the speedo against the speed readout on my PFC and also got my g/f to drive next to my car and compared my speedo with the speed her car was displaying at 60, 80 and 100km/h. My speedo was pretty much spot on (give or take), so didn't bother calibrating, although I would've done so if it was substantially out. 3) I doubt that you'll be able to get a new dash cluster, although if they were available, then a Nissan dealer would be the best bet (they may be able to order in). If you're after a second hand dash, I have one in perfect working condition that came out of my S2 R33 that I'd sell for $150 (plus postage). 4) Replacing the dash is pretty easy - the DIY guide is excellent and you should be able to do it yourself without any problems, so you shouldn't need to pay anyone to do it for you. Cheers

I believe there are 3 different size turbine housings: 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06

It's a 600hp turbo (not 700hp). I have the same spec turbo on my car - good piece of kit Good luck with the sale

Best Turbo Upgrade For Standard Rb25det?
ECR033 replied to johnabs's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you're after response and good average power across the rev range, then I'd recommend a highflow - good bang for buck and should easily see 220-250rwkw with the right supporting mods. If you have enough coin and are after more power whilst still maintaining decent response, then the HKS GT2835 ProS is also a good choice. Isn't 740cc overkill for anything under 350rwkw? 550cc injectors should be more than adequate. -
There is little or no difference in performance between S1 and S2 (other than the wear and tear resulting from the fact that S1's have typically seen a few more years of service). From memory, these are the main differences... Interior: Updated trim Updated instrument panel Passenger airbag Exterior: Round indicators and foglights Sharper bonnet lines, grill and headlights Chrome backing on headlights Chrome 'S' Skyline symbol on bonnet Color coded 'Skyline' trim under boot Titanium coloured boot lock Squarish rear spoiler Mechanical: Updated ECU Nylon intake wheel on turbo Updated ignition system Different CAS for post Sept 97 models There is a thread somewhere on the forum which has a detailed list of all the differences between S1 and S2 - do a search.

It looks like a series II with an aftermarket front bar (edit: bonnet doesn't have the same lines as an S2 though - could be a S1.5?)
-
The super street license is an ANDRA regulation - it's got nothing to do with WSID and the same rules apply at any ANDRA compliant drag strip in the country
-
Indeed - saw 285rwkw at the last SAU dyno day

Hey Chris, Small correction mate - I'm using a GT3040R at the moment To keep the car streetable, I personally wouldn't go for anything larger than a GT30 series on a std rb25.
