Tein Suspension
driftmeister replied to gtrzilla's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi SK My R34GTT as the full Veilside kit and currently using the Nismo R-Tunes coilover (overly stiff for street but superb on track). From my understanding the Tein Super Street has height adjustment which i can adjust so that it wouldn't be so low. For the Bilstein kit, what is the set ride height for the front & rear? For those who has the Tein SS, what is the recommended ride height for it? Im interested in the Bilstein for quite sometime since i know there is a matching set that comes with the GTT (Nismo edition?) on JDM imports. Is your Bilstein setting the same? Thanks in advance. -
Just bought Falken 912 for the front pair, felt really good on the dry & wet with predictable handling. My previous tyre was Falken RT 615, very sticky when they're new but once around 50% and wearing of the sides due to the negative camber of the suspension setup, the tram lining got so bad that it's so difficult to drive. Waiting for my rear Dunlop Run Flats tyres to wear out, hoping to get a better dry grip tyres (reasonably priced also). Any suggestion?

Nice write up SK. Im fitting a T04E (50 or 53 trim) with around 38mm WG that came with the HKS Cast manifold for my R34GTT. My mechanic mention the WG is too small for running hi boost. Internal is stock other than the thicker metal head gasket (1.5mm i guess) and seals changed while the turbo is going in. What boost is efficient for this turbo? Not enough cash to get a bigger Wg atm.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

Hi Guys Just a thought about branded rims available, i notice Breytons or Carllson rims looks really nice on Continental car like the Mercs or BMW. Are the offset the same to fit an R34 GTT since they also hv 5 lug. Notice the Lexus do share the same sets as the conti's though Wald is a Jap brand. http://www.wald.co.jp/news/back/200706/sab/s33c_2/index.html Appreciate feedback. -

Anyone know whether the Millennium Jade for the BNR 34 has any pearl elements inside? Or by just giving the colour code (JW0) to the paint-shop and the mixer will know just how much is required? A friend of mine had the actual R34GTR Nur Spec with that colour, i do see a slight goldish pearl colour when certain light reflect on it. Pls advice...

Thanks for your prompt feedback bro..appreciate it. I didn't expect to have quite a number of compatibility issue. I thought if i were to go RB26, the best would be to use the complete harness from the 33GTR and get a PFC for the it. I would presume the TCS & A/c wouldn't be working and a/c require a separate switch for it. Anyway, now i think it's better to just mod the GTT 25 engine which is less headache. Cheers! -

Hi Paul Just a quick question, if i want to swap a RB26 engine (either a 32 or 33GTR) to my current R34 GTT which already has a PFC. Do i need another PFC based on the GTR model or can i still use the GTT? Would my a/c or other electrical works with a GTR PFC? -

Hi Paul Just checking whether under the SETTING for AIRFLOW, does the Power Intake refer to those ER34 who has changed to after market filter cone type? A friend of mine read it somewhere in the Japanese version manual indicated this. Just want to double confirm. -

Hi Paul I am going to do a tune soon. Just wondering when the knock comes on between 5-6k rpm, does it have anything to do with the VVTI for the NEO engine? Would the VG30 AFM make any difference in hp & tuning if the turbo is still stock? -

Hi Guys I found a set for 34GTR in pristine condition and hoping to install on my 34GTT which is currently on Nismo R-Tunes (GTT spec). Would there be a difference in height for the front coilover height to fit GTT, as i understand the 34GTR factory shock is shorter than GTT. Pls help before i make my purchase... -
Faq: Apexi Powerfc - Frequently Asked Questions
driftmeister replied to paulr33's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Hi Paul Thanks for the advice. I actually did the test as per your FAQ for getting better fuel economy for lower load range. Presently i just lowered the 5-6k range timing. The reason why im asking between Ignition or Fuel is to know the benefit of keeping the exhaust temp cooler would be a better option since the Jap did set the based map on their 100 Ron fuel. My country only supply 97 RON. I dun mind add more fuel while keeping the original base map timing on a higher rpm range. Would u reckon thats possible? Anyway great FAQ...recent long trip gave me superb economy. Cheers! -

Hi Paul I am still running the base map and i notice my knock is very high around 100 - 120. The engine light would blink around 5k-6k rpm range. Any suggestion to reduce the knock level to a safe amount, should i reduce the IGN Timing or Add more fuel in INJ? Pls help cos im only getting it tune probably in 2 weeks time when i install a bigger turbo. Appreciate feedback soon....love my PFC so far on the slight torque im am feeling now. -
Buddy Club Or Tein Coilovers
driftmeister replied to Onthehunt's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I checked the Buddy Club, for the Japanese spec it is called Junior spec. Hoping to find a mate who has them for the seat of the pants experience. Btw im in Malaysia. Anyone? -
Just changed mine to a 2nd hand unit, the idling is so much better plus when braking the RPM doesn't dive down so low now. Runs like a dream now. Very good write-up.

Weird Engine Sound On Neo...need Advice
driftmeister replied to R33Turbo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Check all vacuum hoses, mine was remove by accident near the brake pump area. Could be heard while idling, if driving / pulling hard then maybe it's the turbo going kaput. Just my 2 cents. -

Just installed the PFC this morning but i had problems during the initial stages when i first start up my car. Based on FAQ, i let it idle the 1st 10 mins without any problems then when i switch on the Aircon, the engine started to hunt up & down non stop. I check the sensors to see what was wrong but no problem indicators was shown. When the aircon was switch off, the idling was perfectly normal. I tried to initialize it then doing the same routine few times but still have rev hunting with a/c on. The engine felt like the a/c is cutting in/out continuously. Then i realize that previously my mechanic told me about my idling valve needs changing because the screw to adjust cannot be turn due to the plastic gone all flat. I change it immediately (2nd hand) and Voila! it runs like a dream now. No hunting whatsoever. Did a 15 mins idle then then turn the A/C on and took it for a blast. Currently happy with the base map and will do a proper tune once i get the Datalogit software. Hope this would help those who has problems during installation time. -
Those are definitely S-Tunes shocks. For the front you need to use a screwdriver then push them down to turn. Make sure they lock into the right number and release till it come up to the top. For the rear, just turn the knob. 1 softest 4 Hardest.

Nice TS front bar...time to get the CF bonnet & GT Wing to compliment together. Sure rocks as hell! Cheers!

Thanks mate...i fell in love immediately when it got on to the car. Was a little worried that it may not fit. I managed to get the complete set (2nd hand) for $3.8k (Malaysian Ringgit). Plus another $1.5k for the paint job + lip fabrication (GTR OEM type). Anyway urs looks awesome too with the stickers together. Cheers!

Dun think these Veilside kit looks gay...my 2 cents comments. Now it need 19 inch wheel to complete the transformation.
