  1. So the requirements are L2S CAMS, fire ext. and helmet, anything else? I have heard the Phillip Isl isnt the most friendly place for first timers, that true? B
  2. WOOT the guy is gonna fix up the RW items and I can pick the car up mid next week. He is fitting new brake pads to the car and I said I would pay the difference between normal pads and some performance pads. What is a good performance pad and where is the best place to buy them? B
  3. Just heard from the guy Im buying the car off "tonight" that it will cost him 3k to get a RWC and he's thinking of pulling out.... grrrr :bs!:  bad words @$$%T#$%@$#%^$%&^*&^(*%)(&*)^&)^&()&*()^#$%@#$^#$& :flamed: /bad words Assuming the sale goes through I will definately head down, my cousin should be taking his GTR down that weekend too so even if I dont have a car yet I may head down with him! B
  4. Yeah I think an experienced passenger would be a great idea, my cousin has an R33 GTR running 400+kw or something silly like that who races in a lot of club events, also have a mate who races a F/Ford so I will try and get them down there to give me some help. 16' wheels are a great idea but my 93 Supra has the 97 updated brakes which wont fit, I also like to have some decent tyres on the road as well so its not a complete waste. Any of you guys competed in any events with the Toyota Car Club? I was thinking of joining but dont really know much about them, by their website it looks like they have mainly older Toyota's? B :headspin:
  5. WOuld it fit a 93 Supra TT? B
  6. I am buying new tyres for my Supra TT and was recommended Toyo T1S tyres and they also fit within your budget. I looked up some reviews on the net and they rated very well. B
  7. What is the best way to determine the optimal suspension config if your not an experienced racer? Trial and error is the only way I can think of apart from getting a professional to do it? Just had a thought, might be able to find the settings for track use on the internet..... Toyo T1S are $305 a tyre at Tyrepower which I though was very good!! Thanks guys for the info and support, its given me even more motivation to get out there and have some fun I'll post the specs and pics of my car once I pick it up tommorow! Do SAU events allow other cars to come along?.... eg. Supra's hehe. B
  8. SG I agree, wont be wanting to set great times first time out I just wanted to know what kind of things would improve the stability and reliability of the car on the track so I didnt either smash it or blow something up LOL. Good point about the brakes snowman, it currently has the 97 mdl updrage discs and calipers and I am going to put performance pads on it and flush the brake system and replace with good brake fluid. Going to flush the radiator, clean the air filter and fit a new FMIC before hitting the track too. Another racing question, the car currently has 17/45/255's Potenza's all round but given they are low tread I was thinking about fitting Toyo T1S's which I have heard good things about. 1. Anyone have any tyre suggestions? 2. Is 255 too wide on the front? Standard is 235 front and 255 back. Bepo
  9. Dont think Ill jump straight into any series :Bang: hehe Looking to do track days for 6-12 months with the Toyota Club and if its for me Ill apply for CAMS Level 3 (Have Level 2 atm). Once I have that I look into what i want to do next. May keep the Supra for a road car and import a 96-96 RX7 from japan which has been modified stupidly as I have seen them go for $13,000 -17,000 landed in Australia. I would feel better racing a 13k car in a series given the amount of contact that seems to occur LOL. Anyone in SAU racing in any series around Australia, Hill Climb, Targa, Production etc? B :bscreen:
  10. I am considering taking my 6spd RZ Supra (240rwk) on the track, I have adjustable height suspension, front and rear strut tower braces and good tyres but was just wondering how Supra's in general go on circuits. I hear lots about them in Drags but not so much on the track. Anyone seen em on a track or even raced against em? Obviously a lot is going to come down to the driver but I'm just curious on your opinions... Also what kind of modification to suspension/handling are usual for track work? B
  11. NZ I'd say which means you have a packet to spend on shipping, returning it standard form and complying under SEVS? Otherwise its a great deal LOL B :ghost:
  12. I have been negotiating on this car, guy was bringing it in for an inspection this morning and then last minute told me it was sold to an interstate buyer. Sounds shifty to me and frankly I'm pretty f&%$ed off B
  13. Ouch 28k for an 89 GTR, wowzers, it would want to be an auction rating 4.5-5 with full service history and in Immac condition to justify that price! Z  Bepo
  14. Have to agree although 18-22k is more realistic for an Auct grade 3.5-4 in good nick once all the extra's are paid to get it on the road. Every dodgy character and his dog in melbourne's Nth suburbs has an 89 GTR just imported for sale at the momment for 24-26k. Still to avoid the risk involved in importing it isnt too big a price hike I suppose? Z  Bepo
  15. See this is the sh%$ that scares me about the SEVS scheme, I wanna bring in an R33 GTR or EVO 6 but wtf do i do if the car fails compliance due to accident history which wasn't picked up on the auction report?!?! I dont wanna pay 30k and then find I gotta sell it for scrap!! :kick: :slap: :box: B
  16. Alternator. I had exactly the same thing happen to a Commonwhore I owned, slowly the electrics started failing abs, airbag, dash, headlight, until it suddenly stopped. The only thing I cant understand is how you got it started again 40 mins later, maybe it is a wiring issue? B :alcoholic
  17. Seen some WICKED RX-7's coming outa Japan for 7-13k that are already majorily MODIFIED, of course the rotary may need a rebuild and other repairs but any import may need that before racing. This could be a very quick and cheap race car. Of course GTR's are a great alternative but expect to pay twice as much to buy and twice as much every time something breaks There are also plenty of late 1980's RX-7 shells at wreckers in Australia in case you mess up :kick: Oh and you dont need a trailer cos with a CAMS license you can get permission to drive your car to and from events. Just my 2c B
  18. R33 GTR's are 1995-1997 but that of the topic hehe. I agree that you should sell the 97 GTS-T, take the 10k? your gonna spend and invest in a 95 R33 GTR which ya could probably have on the road through an importer for 34-36k. Just my 2 cents, Bepo
  19. AHHH, so what your saying is that the workshop replaces all the parts, comply's the vehicle then puts all the goodies back on. How did it only cost you the rims? Do the workshops use the same standard parts for a number of vehicles? Bepo
  20. I've heard good things about "Eric Engineering" which is basically one guys at Hyper Tech who used to work for Gibson Motorsport on the R32 GTR's. Apparently he's the best around and is located in Vermont, Melbourne. This is all just hearsay, anyone actually dealt with Eric? Bepo
  21. Another Question about your import, whats the deal with all the mods, I assume they have to be replaced by standard skyline parts to meet the new compliance rules? How does that work and what did it cost you, as I would like to import something with some goodies. Bepo
  22. Yeah thats the car alright. As for conflicting stories, it is more a few vague facts like he said the kit was on it in Japan and your saying it was done here hehe, it has also changed hands twice in a year which doesn't bode well. Anyways I dont really want to air this on the boards, I am more interested in anyone having knowledge surrounding the cars, mechanics and more importantly if it has accident history. Any respray raises my suspicions Bepo Had too put this in
  23. Meshy.... Yes it is he one from Ebay although i saw it advertised elsewhere, dont really likethe color but the modded panels and bodykit look sweet. Any info on this car would be great as the owner has conflicting stories about the car..... I'm becoming less and less interested in it though as it isnt really the image I am after LOL Bepo
  24. Hehe I wasnt specific enough LOL This cars interior and exterior is HUGELY different to a standard Skyline, Engine bay is also quite different. I was thinking more around the Model no. BNCR33 printed on the engine or something like that? Maybe even what to look for in terms of the 4wd system/front diff.... I'm not a noob.... REALLY!!!! Bepo
  25. I know this might sound stupid but.... I am looking at an R33 GTR which has significant customisation and modifications, what is the easiest way to tell the GTS/GTR apart if you havent driven either before? Bepo
