Subwoofer + Amp, do i need a new battery?

mick. get your facts right cos its clear you are basing your opinions on second hand observations and not actual experience. you're providing incorrect information so, again, don't take offense, but get it right before you post. ' target='_blank'>http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/sh...r+bandaid[/url] http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/sh...pacitor+install http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/sh...pacitor+install http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/sh...pacitor+install http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/sh...pacitor+install check these threads out from CAA. most of the information you'll find on them will be just about spot on. i'd only ever put a cap in my system as decoration. they aren't a magical fix for a poor charging and electrical system. upgrade your wiring (particularly your earth) and run the largest positive cable(s) you can to your amps to minimise voltage drop over the length of the cable. if you're only looking at a relatively small upgrade in the audio side of things, look towards one of the "larger" ac delco sealed batteries. they're significantly cheaper than an optima/oddysey/orbital etc etc and if you've only got a basic system, would be ample. from memory, i found a 650cca delco with very decent reserve times for $150-200ish. and forget the cap... really.... d -
aaah... yeah. i'm with marty. and, no offense here Mick and others, but you've been ill-informed and are wrong. kill hsv, quite simply, it could be a whole plethora of problems causing you grief from wiring to dodgy components but let me assure you, it has nowt to do with "splits dont put any bass out at all that why you use a sub". "running 3ways, for example have 6inch 3ways in the doors and a pair of 6x9's in the parcel shelf" is not the right solution to your problem.... at all. best of luck mate d

Diff / transfer case coolers
djhatton replied to Amaru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
not too sure about diffs, but as you know, i'm sure, transfer cooler was oem on the aussie delivered so thats a given. re: under the floor, i can't see any issues so long as you duct them right... d -
you gotta giggle at them damn poms. the most un-pc correct shit hehe. d

yeah i'll prolly be out cruising tonight somewhere. and yes adam did end up cahrging me extra for fixing the passenger door mechanism. i wasn't all that happy about it, but at least its done now. it was just that it was working fine before i brought it in, and fooked after. he met me half-way for the 3 hours he reckons were spent on it ($90). d

double post!!!??? me????? never!

hehe. yeah mate got your wave. not sure if you saw mine. that bayside blue 32... well it "might" be me... my car's a bit more "power ranger" blue than bayside... but yeah and that green/purple flip gts is pretty nuts. one of joe sukkar's cars (skyline performance) i met the owner out at joe's place when i was test driving 33's about a year back. i personally don't like it much... too much bling for my liking, but it does have a bit of sting... d

Best street Tyres
djhatton replied to OnTheBoost's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i ended up getting bfgoodrich (made by michellin) profiler g's in 255/40/17 on all 4 corners on my beast and thus far, i'm very happy with them. nice tyre in all conditions. and they cost me $309 a corner fitted and balanced. d -
hehe the 260rs was infact terminal's rsfour, but admittedly, how hawt is that wing!!!! d
-
yeah thats my car. sooO! its 33 limited edition blue is it! i had a guy tell me it was calsonic blue down to the last pigment and i wasn't sure if i believed him. hmm anyone got pics of this limited edition r33 hue??? other than that, thanks jayce for telling us about the gig. was a good way to spend an otherwise would-be slow easter sunday! some nice cars too. that 260z was quite simply one of the most amazing resto's around. me, jayce and other dave (barbs on here) sat there staring at it dribbling all over ourselves!!! it was the one with the orange racing stripe on sexy silver. i've got a stack of pics but they're all 8mpix and i cbf smallening them. d

hey just gonna pull you up on a few points there mate.... no, a sealed sub box will not produce more power. neither sub, nor enclosure will produce any power increase. ported/bandpass enclosures don't necessarily give a sub a nicer tone. in "most" instances, ported enclosures are used to optimise the output at or between certain frequencies. this is why you'll find most serious spl competitors using vented boxes and, lets be frank, most spl cars sound like ass when it comes to linearity and natural reproduction. vented boxes don't sound "nicer" in most respects either. while there are many drivers that sound lovely in the right ported/vented alignment, sealed designs usually offer much higher transient response (tightness/punch/impact/whatever adjective you like to use). on one other note there, you're right in that increasing a sealed enclosure's volume will decrease Q (improve the sound.. sometimes). having said that, you shouldn't take a driver that sounds crap in a 30l enclosure and put it in a 100l box and hope it sounds good... /end rant d
-
no they weren't gt's and they DO fit. just takes a little bit of fiddling thats all... you've gotta sit them on an angle. i'll send you pics when my mounts are finshed dude. chances are i might be fabricating sealed enclosures for the 9" dyn's i've got my eyes on anyway, but i'll let you know either way. d
-
that made no sense... but yeah you'd be defected if you had no rear seat and the car was still registered as a 4 seater (well in act and nsw at least... not too sure about other states but i'd imagine they'd be the same) d
-
hmmmm.... maybe i'll make the voyage too. i'll check my roster and we'll see. might be up for a bit of catching up with you gents. i'll let you! d

well... i can't say i'd kick her out of bed!!!... but yeah if its celebs of choice, she'd be waaaaaay down the list.... d

Where to get Skyline Serviced
djhatton replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
is this ben with shaggy hair ben?? i think i know him through my mate ivan zaf (zaf performance - 0422-136-289). judging by your avtar, you might know ivan anyway cos he works on youssef's car... but yeah if its the guy i'm thinking of, he seems like a really decent guy and he knows his stuff. he's imported vehicles and does a bit of work all around the place from what i've heard (evo, with ivan, and he's done dealings with joe sukkar, and others...) d -
yeah that spoofn gtst looks nice... saw that a few days ago. not off here??? d
-
dude each driver needs 1.25cu/ft or 35.39606 litres. the t/s parameters and .pdf manual etc are on the US clarion site under "support->search->SRW3081". somewhere around 35 litres each would be just fine. d
-
meh each to their own. i'd never have it in any of my own cars, (nor would i like to see it in any of my mates cars) but i'm sure there are people that'd like a setup like that. install looks a rough, but the concept isn't too far off, imo. d
-
and just for reference's sake, i just dummied up my dynaudio splits into the doors of my 32 and they'll fit without too many hastles. you'll need to make a custom mount (i'll be doing mine out of mdf + fibreglass) but they'll fit. there aren't all that many sets of 6-7" mids that hang deeper than my dyns so you shouldn't have too many dramas with most split systems on the market. just gotta get stuck into Sound Deadener now!!! d

spotted a blonde chick (and another chick in the shotgun chair) in a black 32gtst just after 5 on canberra avenue about to turn off onto monaro (going towards tuggers). anyone here?? i love cuties in nice cars!!! makes me smile. d
