had a fun little drive up canberra avenue today at around 3pmish with a gorgeous looking 33. not sure if it was a gtr or just a gtr kit but it looked great in deep purple. purple custome plates "spoof"-something from memory. gave a big hello and goodbye wave. and damn the roads were slippery tonight. gtr got itself out of shape a few times on damp corners!! teeheehee... d

siksII, good point well made!!! but the cheapie alarm that was installed in this guy's cordia was done very well. all soldered black wires w/heatshrink taped up in black eleccy tape to the original loom and cableties all over the place. the door solenoids were mounted on neat little brackets and the 2-point relays were completely hidden! most DIYers don't go to these efforts thats for sure!!! it was done right. the problem was that the cover for the alarm module just "popped" off and it was a piece of cake for this other installer from there (esp. considering there was screening on the board inside stating which "black and unmarked" wire was what!!! i'm willing to bet that most cheapies have their compromises. you get what you pay for in this world. show me a cheap alarm that doesn't have compromises and it will be without a doubt a bargain, but i don't know one that exists! vehicle security is a pretty serious thing, esp considering our beloved cars are so high on most thieves' lists! why on earth would you spend $100 (or even 2-300) on security for your $20000+ beast???? that, to me anyway, isn't right. still, IMO, above all else, security really comes down to common sense. i wouldn't park my car anywhere i didn't feel it was safe. and while schtickers (other than sau advertisments, of course ) down the leading edge of your door look cool, they're also shopping lists for potential anal warts like thieves and/or jealous people with less than honourable intentions. /end rant d

autowatch, brant, viper and mongoose are the only alarms that i'd ever have in my car. i had a warlock before and it was shit. reliability, features, compliance to au/nz standards and actually PROTECTION from thieves are there in spades with the right alarm. a $100 jaycar job is a walk in the park to get around. i watched a guy do it at a place i used to work at and it was just too easy for him! (hifi store). but as they say, an alarm is only as good as its installer. a stratties job may very well be fine, but they install it with hotmelt and wishful thinking, your better off leaving the keys in the ignition. d

glad to hear chris worked his magic for you. since the first time i drove a chris before/after job, i won't take my car anywhere else. he knows how to take his time (sometimes hehe) but you can be assured he is better than anyone else within many hours of driving!!! distributer for eibach and bilstein too! d

yeah that blue one was prolly me... i make that drive up hindmarsh (turning off dalrymple/mugga lane) heaps on way to girlies house etc... yeah was prolly the car you saw at eds. he did all the engineering work on it when it was brought into the country. nice ride dude! love the gunmetal. dont know if you saw me but i was parked a bit up from you! hehe. and yeah, there was heaps on that weekend. canberra show. the races etc etc. spent most of my night at toast @ dj zinc (drum and bass dude from uk) and didnt leave civs till like 5!!! d

spotted nice gunmetal 32 gtr last night leaving civic at about 3 or 4 something in the morning. was parked outside the canberra theatre opposite commonwealth bank. tints, lowered on nice fat 17s. black plastic plates. damn the police were out in force last night!!! d

spotted last night in woden outside lisboa. black/dark gun 32 r. gold 5-spokes (looked similar to sparco's... flat spokes). nice note. anyone here?? d
-
sorry to hear about that dude. sux when shit doesn't go to plan. but you got what you paid for! d
-
well no, actually nothing wrong with 6x9's in theory. they do exactly as they're designed to to! its just that the design itself is a compromise. d

the pink 200 belongs to a guy called youssef and it has a sr that was lifted straight from a 10sec gemini. very very quick car. my mate ivan does all the work on it. having met all these guys, i can say, while i wouldn't like to piss them off, they're decent blokes. d
-
nothing wrong with 6x9's in theory. they still outsell every other speaker on the market. they just sound like ass! i've not liked any sony headers since their cdx-c90 and mobile es/xes stuff. entry level, i'd have a jvc personally. cadence amp will be just fine. perhaps budget for a 4channel amp so you can run your fronts and sub off it. will make your system sound much nicer. and i'd still have a jl 10/12W0. d
-
get yourself a coustic, cadence or similar amp. just a little 2 channel unit will be fine. i've found the jaycar ones to be pretty average... spend $300ish. a head unit is up to you. you don't need anything flash. jvc is my pick at the cash. $2-300. and i reckon a jl 10/12W0 sub for that money.... $200ish. go out and have a listen to everything out there and make up your own mind though... oh and you'll need to budget in for some decent cables etc etc. d

huh??!! wow he seemed like a nice guy when i spoke to him. he hooked me up with some colour-matched vinyl for the tweet/mid pods/kicks in my r33 when i had it and he was pretty helpful! oh well he's gone now! heard lots of good things about topcat... d
