lets not let this thread turn into a biach-fest per R31Nismoid's comments. there's plenty of potential in here for a civilised discussion. bfi.inc, i don't need to know, frankly. whatever the reasons for munro pulling this engine down, i consider it totally irrelevant. the basic "blueprinting" of the engine ex-os giken factory floor wasn't as desired when inspected by AED, which was the thrust of my point. i'm not saying the os is a bad engine. nor am i saying os is not competent at building engines. if the willall racers have run 2 of these suckers without a hitch straight off the pallet, then there is no reason for me to doubt this engine's potential (which i never did anyway). perhaps with os's quality control... ??? without taking this as negative, realise that nearly every manufacturer, no matter how well respected can produce a less than 100% product. it happens from time to time. re your comments sk, i too am curious as to the sources of engine-bit pricing. i know that the automotive parts industry usually has a fair whack of GP% in their products, but the prices you've stated do seem awfully attractive might do a rebuild on my own car if they're that cheap d

??? who knows. perhaps they just decided it would be a good learning experience, only to discover it was out of whack. perhaps they were just curious??? i'm not too sure i thought it was a bit premature too, opening an engine that'd never been turned over let alone fitted to a car... but they did! d

haha. that'd be mick, the guy who a) imported my car and B) has imported many many many other cars under the now defunct 15 year rule. good bloke. and i pleaded with him for his wheels, but no such luck i'd love to know which establishment he was parked at! d

ok i'll straighten my post out a little bfi.inc, i am absolutely not criticising the willall workshop. i've heard nothing bad about their work. nor did i state that the engine had to be "rebuilt" - i.e. it broke. i read that one user of the os 3l (and i can confirm that it was munro to stand corrected on that) had his os engine disassembled and was reassembled differently because the tolerances were less than desirable. may have been an unlucky engine to come out of the crate... who knows. i have no doubt the quality of each individual part is awesome, but the assembly was not up to the standard of the goodies lurking within (according to AED). i still stand by my belief, regardless of who makes it, if it aint perfect, i wouldn't be happy. and mik, relatively, 20g may be awesome value for money in the breakdown of parts. i'm not disputing that. sure, $20,000 isn't a lot in comparison to what many people spend on their engines (i know one rb26 here in canberra that was built on stock capacity/crank/block that cost the owner in the vacinity of $15large) but its still $20k and i'd want perfection for that. either way the os is a phenomenal thing and on my dream list. one day maybe... my 2 yen d

re: the os engine's clearances. i can't remember which thread i read it in. will see if i can dig it up... it might not've been clearances actually. but will find out. either way, it wasn't perfect and needed a lot of fixing up (supposedly). and for that matter, i thought willall got AED to build their engines. might've been munro. one of the two. (god how off the pace am i today. can't remember anything clearly. too many shifts in a row...) i don't know about you but $20k is a lot of money for me on an engine and i'd want it to be done 100% for that. i never doubted the VALUE for money in raw components, but that wasn't my point. d

nice one e+j congrats on the award. the pimp mobile is looking as pimp as ever!!! d

i believe the willall team rebuilt their OS engine before it'd been fitted to anything and the clearances were'nt spot on... for my $20k+ i'd hope for something perfect, just quietly... and anyone who flames the rb30 better take a good look at from the insides. there's nothing at all wrong with their design and very similar to later model rb's. the power people pull reliably out of these things should be another indication of how good they can be. d

now now kids! play nice. spotted black r33 gtst. tv's in headrests. sounded much more tough than any sub 2.6l engine has any right to (teehee) and looked pretty noice. manuka around 9pm ish near tryst. d
-
yes it has. i can't remember what the leakdown test results were specifically but they were fine. compression tests came up 140psi give or take a few across all cyls. either way they were consistent with the kms and condition the engine has (i.e. no cyl down like 20psi or anything). shipping to tassie probably would be exxy yeah if you've got a couple of days up your sleeve, you could fly up and drive down. some good roads on the way there i understand cheers d

i'm not savvy with what the laws are like over there, but the car's pretty well thought out. i can't think of many things that it would be pulled up on. long way to travel tho cheers! d BUMP

thankyou mate. yes indeed i'm finding it tough to sell. but it needs to go and 24k seems pretty damn low for it, so we'll see... cheers! bump d

ok its definately not bob's car (thank god). for those who read the mags doing the rounds, bob owns that autostyle r33 w/ the gt-rs turbs/leather int/etc etc that featured a few months ago in hpi. but that 33 was a sorry sight indeed! i'm very curious to know who owned it cos methinks, judging by the damage, him/her might've been a bit battered and bruised at the very least! if the owner wants to donate the sexy ap's or the volks i shotgun!!!! d
-
spotted the most horific sight in the world. silver 33 gtr. te37 volks in that gray purple colour (like bob mitchell's car). completely totalled. front bar gone. boot/lights etc gone. big hole in the passenger side quarter. big ap racing brakes. big a/m fmic. i completely freaked when i saw it!!!! d

actually i do.... the car in question is a purple/blue kamelion painted r34. 18 or 19" works (meisters??... the multi double spoked ones with a bit of dish). looked stock-ish (other than the paint/wheels/exh of course). i saw it at work maybe 1-2 weeks ago on a sat or sunday... i was late from my lunch break at work that day cos i stopped outside to check it out! hotness thats for sure! i thought it was rh9 at the time but i also heard that the purple beast was not exactly driving... forgot to post it spotted and i'd left my phone (camera) inside the office so i didn't get a snap. when i ducked out later on that day, it'd gone...! wonder if hes a "silent" sau member... seems there's been a few of them! *points finger at nick!!* d
