Reading off the stock boost gauge is not an accurate way of determining how much boost you are running anyway. It's best to fit an aftermarket item (like a defi etc.) to read the boost.

tubes can be as long as you need them to be, but the shorter the pipes the better the response from the boost controller.

he said he had an auto box so he won't have a pfc i would probably look at getting some form of piggy back ecu and getting it installed/tuned, then taking it down the strip. or even just get a dyno run with the increased boost just to make sure the AFR are ok before blasting it down the track all night. i think a mid 14 is more likely.

the Q45 AFM (90mm?) is larger then the Z32 (80mm?) that your mate used.
