its structural scott, and rules are rules. The dumb f**k who cut them in (assuming you hadnt done it yourself) has cost you a lot of work. Imagine it the same as having damaged chassis rails etc. Yes you can cut a hole for a cooler pipe, but thats not in the structural steel. Its the same thing with having a cut reo to fit a FMIC (and Adrian dont you DARE bring up the fact that you've been thru many times with no reo LOL). you're modifying a part of the car that has a job to do
Yes its a pain in the arse and going to cost you a lot (and i advise strongly that you will need to go to an accredited workshop, say somewhere like SA Chassis around the corner from Villis) but for f**k's sake get it done right. They WILL require receipts from a recognised workshop for the work. How do i know? Mate had to get rust cut out of his firewall / engine bay in a HR31 4 door, and had to have documentation including photos of the rust removal / patch up process. They were very anal about it.
