Stoked on what I accomplished today, wasn't an AWFULLY hard job, but one that certainly needed doing. Gave her an Oil change & replaced the Valvoline oil filter with a K&N Oil Filter. Installed my Catch-Can, which took a bit of fiddling and re-adjusting of other items, such as my Fuel Filter etc. Also upgraded my Spark-Plugs & Ignition Leads to my new 8.0mm Eagle Brand Leads:

***O'Brien Glass will come out to my residence, and replace the windscreen for $232.00 exactly. Luckily this was with a $50.00 discount. I have no membership with O'Brien Glass, but apparently (I was completely unaware) but for the month of June they have $50 off any job/quote/work done IF you go about it online, apposed to calling and arranging. I emailed them asking a quote for the skylines windscreen replacement cost, and if I'd be charged any extra for them to come to me. They claim it's a free service to travel to you. So for $232.00 to have a new windscreen and the fact; I don't have to move the unregistered car anywhere, I'm personally stoked! *** Once again, Thanks everyone. Very true to your words, kudos.

Was going to tackle the stereo on Thursday just gone, but I've learned that I have to rewire my car-door speaker wiring with new 14gauge cable. So that's a minor setback, and have to wait until next week, for speaker wiring to show up in the mail, THEN, I can finally have my stereo system properly installed & working. Until then, I'll be installing a catch-can with a filter I've made using stockings filled with stain-less steel, to aerate the oil as it flows through. I'm hoping this will cause the engine to run a little smoother, and hopefully a lot longer. Other than that, just a few more cosmetic changes. About a week from now, I'll be paying for and getting 4 new Tyres & an alignment along with my cannon muffler being installed. Until then, I'll just leave these here:

G'day all, Was going to tackle my stereo system today consisting of Door speakers, Rear Amped 6x9's, Sub, Headunit & Amp. After learning earlier today that I'm going to HAVE to re-wire my door-speakers, this has set me back a little as I need to get 14g speaker cable. I feel completely stupid asking this, and I'm certain I've just over-thought on it and have ended up questioning what I think is correct: I can remove the adapter that's clicked into the stock unit pictured here: (As it holds no use as when I removed the stereo, it's been replaced with one from a wreckers due to writing on the parts in marker etc etc.) I've done stereo installs on ALL my cars but have never come across this, as every stereo I've removed/replaced has always been factory standard. So I plan to re-wire it to the new loom on the Pioneer DEH Headunit going in, as this is how I best know about doing installs. It's safe to cut as close to the stock adapter/harness pictured here, and go about wiring these wires to the new harness that came with my Pioneer headunit?: FINALLY Can anyone tell me which colour is ACCESSORIES/BATTERY/ILLUMINATION on a 1989 R31 GXE Skyline, or supply a Stereo Wiring Diagram for one? As I've searched almost ALL day even thoroughly, through sticky threads with little to no luck. Thanks in advance.

Thanks kindly to everyone, I now have a rough idea at least of what I should have saved before I even consider getting a quote/install. Many Kudos!

Just did some more cosmetic and electrical work to her today, Cannot wait for my clear indicator lenses to turn up! It's gonna be so subtle, yet such a radical change to how the front end looks, especially since being inspired by a few pictures I was looking at last night of Skylines with colour-coded (to the body) grilles. I went ahead and made mine white, but as you can see in the picture, the paint hasn't fully cured and therefore wasn't properly fitted yet. Will do it tomorrow when the paint has had time to cure. Mounted my kicker sub today and will be doing my stereo install later this week! Looking forward to it! Kicker C12 "Competition 12 Inch'' Subwoofer, 300W The Grille: I personally think it makes a WORLD of difference!

Just a few more pics as they never hurt. Today I just tackled simple things like freshening up my Stockies, replacing my Paper Air Filter with a Reusable K&N Panel filter, and just took some more snaps for the f**k of it. Stock Paper Filter: K&N Panel Air Filter: Rear Garnish Daylight shot BEFORE debadging: Doing the Stockies: The end (dried) result after cleaning, sanding, spraying & clear coating. New Tyres in about a fortnight, then they'll look much than they already do. (One thing I can appreciate about myself is having a creative mind to 'see' potential or in-vision ideas before having completed or sometimes even begun the task). I don't know about you, but I can see her coming up quite nicely with new tyers and Yes, Hubcaps. I think the glossy black finish will compliment/do the hubcaps wonders. Compared to the rusty, dirt ridden state they were in before.

Usually don't fancy rims with more than 6 spokes at the maximum (just personal preference) but I must admit, I'm digging what you had on your 31 !#@L33SH Also liking your clear side indicators, they compliment the car so well!
-
Nice build thread dude. Kudos! Pity to hear she's long gone though. To be completely honest, and no offence intended, but - I personally don't fancy either of the rims (before/after) pictured on your old R31. IF I was to ever get rims (which as I've started for multiple reasons, I am far beyond/over) they would be very different to what you've had on your R31, as I'm very fussy/specific when it comes to rims. There's a reason as to why I'm buying these. It's not to cut corners or try to 'tizzy' it up with ''rims''. I'm completely aware that Yes, these are hubcaps. Their cheap, their replaceable, they can be removed in seconds, and I don't have to break the bank to pay for low profile tyres etc I am quite happy with paying $465 for a set of 4 14'' tyres, fitting & balanced. Not everyone's cup of tea, but after having 7 vehicles, most fitted with rims that require low profile tyres, I am just over the hassle Police have given me over the years, and the amount of money I have to lash out for new tyres. Compared to the savings I could make with sticking with standard tyres, it's no competition for me, at this stage anyway. MAYBE, in years to come, I will change my mind and throw on a set of 17'' 5 Spokes. For now, My personal decision is to keep them ''Grandma Spec''.
-
"Spur of the moment thought/online buy" BUT I've opted to stick with 14'' stock wheels/mags instead of scoping out some 17'' 5 spokes. I'll be throwing these hubcaps on: *Preparing for potential 'burns' here* Lame as they may be, I'm just thinking ahead, mainly for hassles/money's sake. (As every single time I've had rims on any of my vehicles, the police just love to pull me over and take a look at all my treads, and more times than not, argue what the 'Tread-depth indicator' on the tyre or the little Beaurepairs one I keep in my glove-box). So I'm just going to clean my stockies up, sand/prime them and hit them with a matt black paint a few times over then clear coat them, so hopefully they stay black and consistent over the years. (Will be using heat-proof paint due to potential heat that may come from excessive break use. Pictures will be up in due time, as this was only just decided on within the last 10 minutes hahaha! Cheers!

G'day everyone, bit of a n00b question, but I've searched for a while to find and answer over to pages/forum, with no luck. Has anyone had to / have a rough price estimation for what I'd be up for to get my 1989 R31's Windscreen replaced? The thing's cracked all the way through and absolutely dreadful, no solution but to go the whole hog and get a new one. Cheers in advance!

So I took apart the whole dash purely to get to my instrument cluster, only to find after being re-assured that I'd bought the right globes for an R31 Dash, that I'd been given the wrong globes... f**king frustration at its finest. So now I'm left with this: Which ultimately isn't too bad, gives me an excuse to put my neons/switch in and also get the headunit done. On a more positive note; Here is my newly glossed rear garnish and tinted tail lights: Here's how I went about mounting the new LED Number plate lights. (Gave it a clean up afterwards too) Held in place by liquid silicone: END RESULT: Simple. Fun & super effective! Highly recommend doing!

Coming very soon!

#@L33SH Cheers a million, I'm sure hoping so. It should compliment the newly glossed Garnish and tinted tail-lights nicely I'd think
-
Nothing special but just another update/change/mod. Pulled out the old Numberplate bulbs/lenses and am going to silicone these puppies onto the garnish right before I put it all back together as so I'll have plenty of pure white illumination! Far better than faded yellow!

Gave the ol' donk a clean today, looking WORLDS better: BEFORE: AFTER:

Some new toys showed up late this afternoon. Got the door speakers down and out anyway. Will tackle the 6 x 9's next. Had to use 6.5'' Spacers for the door speakers.
