  1. Tony, you mean, so people can get a feel for different combinations and make opinions on how well different setups work?
  2. Yes, the bearing in alts can squeal.... Thats usually I sign of a stuffed bearing, and if something isnt done about it soon it may well end in a new alt, because the bearing will usually flog out that rear housing if not fixed soon enough. It costs bugger all to get them rebuilt, if its only bearings and brushes - It costs generally around $80-$100 (thats if you pull it off and refit it).
  3. Im an apprentice auto elec and have never seen a starter that squealed. They will make funny noises if the front bush in the starter has gone to pieces which makes them make a funny noise, but they dont squeal. The idea is you dont want to grease the shaft that the drive (little thing with that cog that locks into your ringgear) slides back and forth on.... Why? because dirt and grime sticks to the shaft and stops it from sliding..... You only put a couple of drops of oil on the bushes, and clean the shaft.
  4. I know a fair few of you are sceptical of thermo's, but all the big semi's run an electic clutched Horton fans, and if setup correctly from the start have no problems with them what so ever. I was thinking of getting a shroud off a car with a similair size radiator and modifying it to suit. Sumo P.S. Only problem I have is how do they stop the thermo's from overspinning at higher speeds?
  5. Imacul8: for that price you could nearly go get a brand new 350z base price $59990 on the website Sump
  6. Lol Duncan.... yeah I got that 100,000km sticker on my cam cover and I have a 96 model Sumo
  7. Paul: thanks for the heads up mate.... I had no idea thats how it was Sumo
  8. I was talking to my boss about the electric fans just yesterday, asking him how hard it was to set it up. He reckons it was a piece of piss and he even told me that I could have the brand new fan out the back that he never got round to fitting on his old mazda. Just gotta make sure that when you set up the electrics, you make them trigger off your A/C switch and also from your adjustable thermometer. Sumo
  9. Whats the go with everyone having a forsale sticker on the back?? Go to a car meet just to sell your car? Sumo
  10. Try taking it off and getting an autoelec to rebuild it, usually cost around $50-70 if its only the brushes that need replacing. Sumo
  11. LoL, i was only today reading the amounts of trouble they are having with their XR6T's on the ford forums Most people were concerned with the paint imperfections. one blokes door only had primer on it - took it back to the dealer to get them to pay for it to be painted. The rest of the probs were only clunky diffs and stuff Sumo
  12. my clutch is rated @ 450hp... no idea what that equates to Sumo

  14. BOC gases usually supply most forms of gas, we used to buy our Argon from them... Sumo
  15. Mate their was a clicky streering wheel thread a while ago and they said all it was was a couple of loose screws that you can get to behind the steering wheel. As for the gearbox - everyones got their crunches.... they just hide it really good with Redline Lightweight Shockprook g/box oil. Thats about all you can do. Sumo
  16. sometimes if you twist and break the seal they will come off real easy, but I know I had to get a pair of pliers to break the seal on the hoses going to my TB.... they were guled to it! or thats how it felt anyways. All you do it twist the hose up on the pipe its pushed up on and should come off easily. Sumo
  17. well, undo the hose clamps on that little section of pipe that runs across the top, pull all the lines off it and put different coloured tape round them so you know where they go. And undo the bolts that mount it to the motor, its not that hard, but those hoses can feel hard to get off because they havent come off before, just pull on them and twist at the same time... works for me. You need a allen key to undo the plastic cover. I would also recommend if you havent done so before, pull the bov off and clean it (in either petrol/solvent or one of those degreasers - but I hate the idea of washing my bov out with water to clean out the degreaser) and another simple job it to pull the throttle body off and give her a clean, just again use petrol or some good solvent and a toothbrush and you should be able to bring her up sparkling. Both the bov and the TB have a gasket between them and the surface they are mounted too, try not to damage them too much - they are fairly tough so I doubt you will have problems. Sumo
  18. Mick, as long as the O2 senser is working I wouldn't be worried.
  19. zzsprade: when you car is running get out and check if the compressor is cutting in and out, you can tell on most if its cutting in and out because the revs will vary (you know when you hear a car load up when the ac comes on). If its cutting in and out they have a pressure switch in the a/c system that stops them from cooking themselves due to low gas or high gas... its gotta be just right. If you can diagnose these symptoms, take it round to a gas mob and they should be able to help, otherwise it could be in the wire that goes to the compressor, not putting power into it? Anyways, its prolly best left with someone who knows what they are doing - because by the rule of thumb A/C's can be expensive to find parts for and if you go mucking round with it, you may cook something. 22. P.s. I took my muffler off a few months ago from the cat back, so I only had the front/dump on. It sounded shit, the backfires were heaps loud, and have you ever heard a holden 202 with no muffler? They sounds nearly the same. The neighbours wondered what was going on when I did it lol. Took her for a blat, but I live in a small town so coppers werent too much of an issue
  23. but things like sitting in traffic the fumes would be really hard to seal completely off? apart from getting raped by the cops also, it would sound alright
  24. bob, he was being sarcastic
