Only people that say that are the people that are trying to sell the auto's. I like my sports cars to be manual. Cheers Sumo

Finally Geting My License Back This Week !
Sumo replied to GTR Power's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Why ask for peoples opinion if your just gunna blow up? Get whatever you want, no-one really cares what you get. Cheers Sumo -
Nissan's (Navara and Patrols were what I worked on) over time tend to wear out the brass contacts in the light switches. Its a matter of pulling the switch apart and having a look at it - if you know what your doing usually you can fix it. These contacts make contact on and off which will do what your describing. Either Borrow a new switch and see what it does, or if your keen pull apart your old one and see if you can see burnt marks on the contacts - use a bit of wet and dry sand paper to clean the points... and NEVER bend them too far otherwise you fark the switch. If your side and rear blinkers are working then the front either has to be a bad connection or dead bulbs. Relays have nothing to do with this circuit. Cheers Sumo

Yep, thats the unit I have been fitting. Works really well. Takes a little while to install tho on your first time Cheers Sumo

I have been on call-out's before to get cars going with aftermarket immobilisers, and all I can say is that most times it took 5-10mins to locate the aftermarket wiring, either rejoin or put power into those circuits that were immobilised and get the car running. Takes longer to lock the car up in our workshop overnight. Cheers Sumo

A atmospheric BOV vents measured air to the atmosphere. Your cars air flow meter has measured X amount of air in the system which requires Y amount of fuel. When people screw around by dumping the measured air out of the system - the car does not like it..... It still dumps Y amount of fuel into the cylinders. Cheers Sumo

I have a 5Zigen exhaust system on my car and I love it, no droning, just rb25 purring. But after having a look, it goes Cat -> Muffler -> Cannon. Cheers Sumo

I wouldn't have thought that they would be worth a great deal. I dont know if the skylines also run strainers in their (Denso?) injectors. I suppose its hard to get the right ones without pulling an injector and taking it to someone to measure up properly. I have seen quite a few part number discrepencies against various models of cars.

I have fitted quite a few command systems too customers cars, they work quite well. Some are plug and play, others you have to fit magnets to the tailshaft to produce a signal for the cruise to read from. Cheers Sumo

Looks like not a bad idea, looks bigger then the equivilent uni tho. Unless it can provide something sort after, current uni's are cheap enough to replace quite often. I think we picked up a uni for $80 for a Inter S-Line truck the other day. They dont fail that often. Cheers Sumo

My 33 did the same thing after a hard run on 10psi. A plume of white smoke tailed me, and the first thing through my head was "how much will this cost". Anyway it turned out I was lucky and melted 4 of the 6 electrodes off my spark plugs. Cheers Sumo

Altenators use some different types oil seals for their vacuum pumps on diesels. I dont have the books to look them up no more tho. If you had some seal sizes, it might be worth giving ashdown ingrams a ring. Cheers Sumo

Diff Oil And Gearbox Oil Reccomendations
Sumo replied to cookie--monster's topic in General Maintenance
A 75w140 would be a little hard to change gears in the winter I would have thought. I found the synthetic 75w90 makes my gears grate - so im back to using a mineral based oil. Cheers Sumo -
Depends, I dont have a great deal of expirience when it comes to the more indepth mechanical jobs, but new cams and tensioning it properly, re-timing it to run to get you down to the tuning workshop has to require a bit of knowledge. Cheers Sumo

What Impact Wrench Nm You Use To Open Rusted Bolts
Sumo replied to SKY 34's topic in General Maintenance
Put some muscle into it son. I also check tension after using a rattle gun and nuts/bolts I have done up with it. Cheers Sumo -
As far as I know, AFM's are unrepairable. If you put solder or anything on a hotwire system, your going to change its readings and response times to air flow change. More metal = slower response to heat up and cool down. Your computer will tell you straight up if the readings are going out of range. If you get it hooked up to a diagnostic tool. Cheers Sumo

A TX valve changes the liquid to gas, this sucks the heat out of the atmosphere and gives the AirCon that cold feeling. I would like my A/C licence but new laws prevent me from getting one. Cheers Sumo

Yeah, I recently put a exedy clutch in my 33, and a new thrust bearing and now I sound like a cricket too. You really only hear it in confined area's like macca's drive throughs and in sheds. Cheers Sumo

We dropped a gearbox out of a 2004 nissan patrol ute on friday. not the most fun expirience I've ever had. We pulled the 4wd box off first to lighten the load. just make sure you drain all the oils, makes it a little bit lighter. And watch where you put your fingers - I got one crushed between the bellhousing and the flywheel - On the bright side, ill never do it again Cheers Sumo

If you look at the Hella catalog, most of their bulbs are philips. check this mob out also - they may be able to do a deal for you. http://www.xenonoz.com/products.php Cheers Sumo

I know when people have done their own wiring jobs with no background knowledge this has resulted in fire. I have seen big harnesses melted together from 1 wire being hooked up wrong. A night course would be good to give people an idea on what thing to consider when tinkering with a particular part of the car. Aside from that I've had a discrepency with my boss recently (im a 4th/yr auto elec) and am going for early completion. So I have done 3 1/4 years and the app. board said it should be fine to lodge the early completion forms. 3 months time - ill be a mobile unit, then the world is my oyster see where it takes me from their. Cheers Sumo
