  2. bump. still looking for original series 2 front bumper. also wanting foglights and indicators included. anyone got ideas where i might start looking. i dont know any wreckers in victoria. consider interstate. at worse will japan, or have to settle for aftermarket. trying to keep my car stock. hb
  3. hi all, trying to track down a front left head light for my Series 2 R33. Please let me know if you have one and how much. Cheers, hb/
  4. i dont see it. is it twisted/melting? dont car engines run at temperatures above 35c =)
  5. hehehe. Dont expect too much sympathy, if you saw the condition mine was in, you'd feel a lot better. I am just hoping that perhaps someone had put in a FMIC etc, and had their original bar left over. Not too keen to change the look of my car just yet. I dont have money for extra engine mods, so can live with original looking car. Its totally stock at the moment. Again, If anyone has their original left over etc, if they want to mention it. I need to speak with my mechanic first, but if there is one locally and reasonable, probably the best idea. hb/
  6. Hello, Just wondering on the off chance anyone had a series 2 front bar - with the orange indicators and white fog lights. Preferably Silver. Been in an accident, I need to speak to my mechanic tomorrow to find out what other damage been done. He may be able to source the parts, and also waiting to know the full extent. Regards, HB/
  7. Hi guys, I probably cant make it on that date. I think i have something else planned, just need to double check the date. I was considering going for a drive up mount dandenong soon however, just to get out of the house. Im just wondering what the conditions are like in that area. I have driven in the area before, and been terrified out of my witts in some stretches, where the speed limit is ridiculous and lots of blind corners. Are the roads going to be slippery, and dodgey shoulders, corners etc. Im just looking to take a nice pace, dont want to wreck my car or meself. Also, has anyone taken a dawn run in that area. Im just wondering if rising sun would affect vision too bad. I find myself up real late at the moment. Working nights part time, and tend to stay up til dawn. Also any other suggestions on nice places to drive. I notice that gas is getting cheaper finally. Just a bit concerned about driving in the wet. hb
  8. Add my 2 cents. I only ever drive my car on short trips in the evenings. As said before, issues to consider: - need to wait 5 minutes to warm up from stone cold for turbo's sake. - parking in supermarket car park (some twit dented my passenger door too) - parking it unattended in mall complex (havent been game to) - fuel consuption (even on short trips, it likes to drink a lot) and i only ever boost from lights. - insurance (rape me again) - service/parts (still costs less than my 15yr old junker i had before) - havent been bothered by cops, but i read cops in knox like to harrass you. - suspension is a little uncomfortable just for cruising. i felt every pot hole when i first got mine, the road noise is quiet loud i found (concealed by stereo). i think main issue is why you want a skyline, and if its the car you want, then get one. if there is something else that takes your fancy, then test drive that, and ask question again.
  9. On a slightly different note, I just bought a Tamiya Skyline GT-R V-Spec (plastic) from Toyworld for $25, reduced from $40. Part of their Xmas layby sale. Ive havent tried building a model since i was in primary school. I have a horrible feeling the paints are going to cost more than the kit. =p hb
  10. Nicky: where did you get the info for EPA rules etc. Only thing i saw on their website was related to like noisy neighbours. Pawson: " know it is strange, but when the car came from Japan, it already got PFC and the SAFC. I don't know why the Japanese owner want to do that, but good for me instead."- i was under the impression your car had to be stock to be complied. Curious to see more information regarding pods/fmic/etc. i heard there was some issue with oily filters, but k&n are sold legally at autobarn (or so my friend who worked there said).
  11. All this talk of wrecked skylines is making my wallet nervous. Insurance coming up in a few months. =( Was hoping with more skylines turning up on the roads that they would be cheaper to insure, more parts etc. But when they keep crashing into things, then insurer will use it as an excuse to rape harder =p. Anyhow, tough luck about accidents.
  12. All I can say is those kids who claim to be mad drifters are probably no different from other P plate drivers. They all think they can drive cars, and push them to its limits. They are all obviously young and inexperienced. If they're not drifiting into letter boxes they are driving up your rear end or wrapping around a pole. As for the quote that 90% of people watch racing to see the accidents, im in that catergory. I find watching people racing around in circles to be a bloody boring way to spend an afternoon. Only time i watch motorsport is for the rally (which lead to my interest in drift) or the first lap of F1 racing, where they stack it on first corner. And yeah, it would be cool if somoene built a drift land for people to play with their cars. At the moment I know too many young males who like to be irresponsible. The fact they dont kill themselves straight way just leads them to repeat it. Also for people who finger point at kiddies doing stupid stuff, i see far too many bad drivers on the roads (myself probably includuded, but i admit it) who arent paying attention or speeding etc. You have to anticipate the next person doing the wrong thing.
  13. Im just feeling compelled to do something for my car. Has had a few issues with idiots in parking lots of lat, few scratches. needs some TLC. Also my mother coming out in me, wanting to buy something coz it is on sale/cheap =p. Not a fan of overly noisy cars, i seen some very quiet cruising, but loud under accelleration. It be the only time I'd be pleased to hear it. To know the car is reving nicely, without having to look at taco etc (auto). But dont need any grief from cops. Guy at the servo told me to get a locally made one, so that it is under EPA limits. And yeah, i;ve read you dont need noisy exhaust to get power. which is why im confused as what to get. I spoze i could just loiter outside some performance shop and listen for a car that suits my taste.
  14. i dunno, just i recently had issue with teh auto stalling. first time was creeping in traffic around a round a bout, had to break heavily, car stalled. next day i pull up outside my house, and it stalled. ended up changing the fuel filter. i think they are ment to be replaced at 100k, but mine is only 60k. wasnt using optimax however. probably easy to flush, and not too expensive to replace. but then again, might be something else. hb
  15. Hi, My mechanic has offered to install a second hand R33 exhaust onto my auto R33. They were stripped from some cars imported from japan i think, probably to get them complied here. Anyway, I just wanted to ask advice if it is worth taking him up on his offer. I've got friends who say a monster exhaust would sound crap on an auto, and other concern is noise. Don't want to be attracting cops and waking parents/neighbours when i pullup out the front at 1am+. Is there a practical limit to size. What my mechanic gives me would be pot luck, they are just gathering dust in storage. I think they are around 3inch (tip?) from cat back. Like i said, covered in dust, but bolt on from japanese R33. Im not a big fan of drone, and he said you'd get sick of the noise in about 10mins. Im just after some feedback from the engine over 3,000rpm. Not concerned so much with HP gained (i dont think it is best return on investment). I only ever do redlight->green sprints. Planning to keep my license, and take it on a track for kicks. Am i better off just getting a new tip ? The rest of the car is stock and ive got some cash to burn (i convince myself, until i see next visa bill =p) regards, hb/
  16. If your on your P's in melbourne your prolly going to exceed the power/weight restriction. Is something like 125kw per tonne. My Gtst rego says 1200 tare (suspect is heaveir), and with 125kw/tonne regulation limits you to 150kw or so. Everyone trashes their first car, do you really want to experience that in a skyline? Insurance is going to kill you too. hb/
  17. Hi, I have same problem with my 97 Gtst. Starts fine when cold, but has a problem after short trips etc. down to shop or servo. usually takes 2 or 3 goes before it starts. I have mentioned it to my mechanic, and need to look into it. I just replaced the Fuel Filter as the car had started to stall (Auto). Was hoping it would fix both problems, but the warm start issue remains. hb/
