  1. And my hope is dieing by the response... I guess I expected this sort of answer. I may just have to wack it on the rear and remove the cannon in this instance. My car hasnt got stock suspension. I bought it with bilsteins and blue springs. Someone told me it may be a Sydneykid setup which is supposedly 30mm lower.
  2. Well that 32 has it, so ill remain a bit hopeful with my car. That being said, anyone else with input please post! Any help would be great. If my calculations are correct and the inlet/ outlet of the muffler is dead centre, from the top of my exhaust pipe at the moment (3.5" diamater) I would need a furthur 7.7cm above that to clear the muffler body and control box. I would lose 3.2cm of clearance to the ground as well. That doesnt sound like a lot does it?
  3. Hmmmm fair call there. I just found this thread with an r32 and varex centre muffler. Would you have any idea whether the underbody area is similar between the two? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/379015-r32-4-door/ Theres some pics in there
  4. Were you able to measure up a 33? Dont want just quiet, I want the control of being loud or quiet when I want it to be. If I cannot fit one ide be going rear varex but want to make for 100% sure that this isnt possible first. Are you sure it wont fit though or are you just going off the top of your head? I looked up some exhaust systems with centre mufflers. The Kakimoto Regu 06&R has a pretty beefy sized one. The muffler itself is only 15cm in height. The control box being 4.5cm (give or take). If anyone has quality shots of the underbody of a 33 thatd help too. I cant get to the car for atleast a week and want to be purchasing stuff asap.
  5. Hey guys, Wasnt sure where to post this. I have an R33 GTS-T, but its not with me at the moment and I really need some measurements / help from someone with a 33. I currently have a 3.5" Kakimoto Cat back on the car. It has no centre muffler. I am wanting to fit a 3.5" varex muffler to the centre muffler area. (I believe its just before the diff on a r33) I need to figure out whether it will fit or not. From what I gather, the maximum height of the entire muffler , including the control box on top is 20cm. I wont be able to get to the car for over a week and really need some help figuring this out. If anyone has any idea how big an area is under there that would be a huge help. Cheers , Ben p.s. mods if this is the wrong forum area could you please move it. I didnt know the best suitable subforum
  6. Just to answer your desire for a loud turbo whistle. The only turbo smaller than a GT3076R / similar GT30 turbo with the anti surge housing is the HKS GT-RS. The HKS GT-RS is basically a Garrett GT2871R done up by HKS. Has a similar designed anti surge compressor like the gt3076r and makes the same sound, albeit probably a bit quieter. Youde be paying up the hill for two of them though. eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bKZimzQLNc on an rb25
  7. Loving the steampipe lowmount Callan. I bought my car with a cheapo stainless highmount, but should I ever upgrade I was always going to go a low mount steampipe like yours. Great to see some more owners going with that route rather than highmount!
  8. Any updates on this?
  9. Diesels can produce a "dose" out the exhaust as opposed to the intake where petrols do. In the first video I linked of my old patrol you can feintly here it but its not as loud as some. Its due to the design of the dump pipe. A tight angled restrictive dump pipe on a turbo diesel will create a dose sound. Dont ask me why, but only a diesel will do it. Example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYT9ezp3lMk (this is a good example of the dosing sound, as well as the spooling whistle that I originally asked for an explanation on) Most commonly associated with the turbo kit that Denco Diesel makes for the patrol. The dump pipe is a dead 90degree bend. Changing it eliminates the sound, hence how the cause of the noise was deduced. Alot of larger trucks make the sound too, like the standard Cummins N14 motors. (starts about 45 secs. Pure turbo diesel porn lol) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q0dr3Fzc2A Its not the sound I am referring too however, I am basically asking why the whistle is audible via the exhaust. By whistle I mean spooling up.
  10. Get a new radiator and fill it up with fresh liquid. My peugeot wouldnt turn on without anything in the radiator, it was a safety feature. Perhaps 33s have the same gig. That being said, im not game to turn on my 33 without coolant...
  11. 3" straight pipe. Older video of 2.5" press bent + muffler Heres my old patrol for anyone who isnt too sure what im on about but ide say you all are anyway. TD42 & GT2860RS... You dont here any skylines with disco potatos whistling like that, muffler or no muffler!
  12. This is something I just cannot get my head around. Before my current skyline, I had a GQ Patrol. It had a 4.2 liter turbo diesel, straight through 3" exhaust. It whistled like crazy from the exhaust and sounded really awesome. Why is it that only turbo diesels seem to emitt a turbine whistling sound where as petrol motors do not? (Our whistles are usually intake sound or the sound of a surge ported compressor cover eg gt3076r or t51r) Is it to do with the fact that diesel motors use considerably smaller turbochargers than their petrol equivalents of the same engine capacity? My patrol had a gt2860rs on the TD42, I would bet if you put the same turbo on the TB42 (the 4.2 petrol equivalent) with a straight through 3" exhaust there would be no whistle. Someone school me on this as its driving me nuts. The internet isnt much help, mostly I get results linking me to redneck american diesel forums and they are painful to read.
  13. Mad!! Cant wait for this to be completed
  14. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/1381589_10151962278621810_1751804417_n.jpg Jesus christ man your sensor is dirty!!
  15. Post the standard bar on R31 car club forums. They fit 31s and look sweet. Pretty sought after there!
  16. Find someones cheap leftover stock turbo bits and fix it and sell it. Otherwise youre in for a long run of keeping it in a garage... unless you want to risk driving it by all means do so but be ready to get fisted in the anus if something gos wrong..
  17. To check whether its a factory turbo the easiest and most simple way is to answer these two questions: 1. Is the GT badge on the front quarter panels RED OR BLUE? Red = GTST ~ Blue = GTS 2. Is your car 4 stud or 5 stud? 5 = GTST ~ 4 = GTS People change the hubs but almost never change the badges. If the turbo was removed the car will run like crap and be awfully, dreadfully slow. ALSO, the car is still ILLEGAL to drive on your p plates as its still a TURBOCHARGED car. Just because a turbocharger is removed doesnt make it legal. Its still a factory turbo, and is registered as such. Getting caught = fine, loss of liscence. Crashing = VOIDED insurance. Nothing you do will make the car legal for a P Plater. Find turbocharged bits, reinstall. Sell car or keep until off your p's.
  18. Was a similar price to others floating about I thought why not. First ebay body purchase and will probably be my last. Just a heads up to any others. Yeah the shop are gonna heat it up they said to get it to fit.
  19. Hey guys, Well I purchased a roof spoiler from ebay seller Viva Garage for my 33. No intention of slander here, just sharing my experience and helping any other potential customers as I know roof spoilers are pretty popular atm. The mold isnt too great, its a bit straighter than the curve of the roof so theres about an inch gap at either end between spoiler and roof. The ebay seller wont reply to me, I am giving him another day before I leave negative feed back. Just letting people know what to expect if they buy one, it may not be a great fit and dont expect the bloke to contact you back. Link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271266990305&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:1123 Not alot of info on this company on here so this is a start.
  20. Theres a bloke in the 33 thread who has done so with a gtst, which is what inspired me. But im thinking of just going 245 on the front and 265 rear anyway. Also going to 9.5 +22 as it turns out some 9.5 +30 and higher fit but Varrstoens design does not in +30.
  21. Post some pictures... maybe you have bought a fairly highly modified example without even knowing it! A long shot, but hey ive seen weirder things..
  22. Hey mate, are you saying the +30 option for varrstoens WONT clear the brakes on the front? I was thinking of going 18x9.5 +22 rear and 18x9.5 +30 front as the fronts poke a bit more and im not really after that. This is on a 33 gtst btw
  23. Interested in the turbo mate, can you post up some pictures of where the gate pipe is on the turbine housing? Cheers
  24. Your 9.5 +22 front seem to stick out a bit, are you running 0 camber? I was convinced to get 9.5 +22 all round as the rears sit fairly flush but it seems like your fronts hang out heaps and now im unconvinced on what to get again..
