If you enter as a DT you will be allocated an instructer by the WRX club. This is your passenger for the day. You can't just take anyone out with you. The idea being that it is Driver TRAINING, so you will have an instructor to give you a few pointers and help you get a feel for circuit sprints... As said before, there are often passenger sessions during the day that your friends can jump in your car for maybe one or two sessions.. Other than that it is only you in the car.... (Or you and instructor if you do DT)

Paid up... looking forward to seeing everyone there... oh yeah time to suit up!

Hey I noticed a couple of people with video camera's at DECA.. has anyone put any video's up any where... i've seen the few on car ones and a couple of burnout ones... wondering if there was any others...

DECA times are a pretty good indicator of driver ability IMO, the lack of grip means that for people to be doing the times that they are means they must know what they are doing behind the wheel... And also the fact that you have to go straight into competition with no practice means you have to be super committed straight out of the box... (This is somthing that I struggle with..) And don't think its all about the power.. Last year there was a datto with 75rwkw that had the fastest time on the mini-wang.... or the 140rwkw Porches beating 300+kw GTR's on the Long Wang And I believe a little Toyota Echo that showed some gtr's a thing or two on the skid pan... And as for having a better handling car... Just look at what I'm stuck with...

Yup I've had my fun...

heh.. i'm talking about the driving... not about car development or anything like that... Tell me that Michael Shumacher, Mark Webber and the like are worrying about physics and calculations when they are driving their cars in a race... I don't think so... Any way, I'm over it... Lets move on...

You missed my point about the experience of the people at DECA. Someone who has experience in something and has the results shows that they know what they are doing... It doesn't matter what your logic is, nor does it have anything to do with the physics of it... As a mechanical engineer myself I think I can say, you are thinking way to much like an engineer... You are looking into the theory and dynamics of it way to much... Hence my comment about the experience playing a part... Motorsport all comes down to just doing it, trying different things and working out what works best... Even in a motorsport as precise as Formula 1, there are no two Teams/Drivers that attack a certain circuit or even a particular corner in the same way... Like you say, you are more than welcome to have your opinion. No one is taking that away from you.. I simply admire the confidence you have in your opinion to be able to come on here and tell people how they should be driving. Considering that the people I was talking about who have competed in DECA for so long have gone on to win things like the Australian Tarmac Challenge and Targa Tasmania events. And also the same people who hold some of the quickest club level sprint times in the state (and possibly country)

FYI Birds - that video was the same map as the second battle we did on the weekend

Great work guys.. Congrats to the winners... Chris & Russman.. Good to see Russell Gilder right up there, he was driving the pants of that thing... Also I reckon the quite achiever of the day would have to be Dane Stokes... He was putting around all day in that little STI just putting down some consistantly quick times... Just missed out on the Outright Podium... good work... Cheaters aside... the RWD boys/girls did a great job aswell. I'm happy with my results too... as long as there is a Corona in the top 20 it is all good.. Sticking it to all you Modern Chassis / Modern suspension setup, plastic fantastics... One day... One day Corona's will rule to world.........of Deca.. *waits for Ryan to pipe up*

All i can say is.. advice was given to you from me and others... alot of people come to deca's and say, why is everyone hitting the limiter so much and wheel spinning... We were simply explaining that some times it IS more benificial to hold it on the limiter instead of changing gears.. and it IS more benificial to wheel spin off the line to get the boost up... Yes i agree with you that excessive wheelspin off the line is just for show and not for going fast.. But this is not we are talking about... Advice was given... you came back and told me and the others that we are doing it wrong.. You didn't listen and you didn't welcome our advice... I respect what you do, and who you have contacts with.. But IMO nothing can teach you about driving as much as actually doing it... You could be best mates with michael Schumacer, but unless you get out on the track... you don't really know how to race a car... We could argue for hours about this with no result... As many people have said.. DECA is about the fun... I can honestly say that the two DECA's i have done, I have not tried to get good times... Its just a great big hoot...

well there ya go... let us all be corrected... Birdman has set the records straight... For all of you who have any questions on how to drive fast how much your engine can take and what sort of turbo setup you should have on your car.. Direct your questions towards the expert... Birds... I would genuinely like to know where you get your knowledge from.. Are you a mechanic? or a racing car driver? or a pimply computer nerd? All I can say mate is there are some people out there who have done 15+ DECA's compared to your 1 or 2... i'd say they would have a better idea of what they are doing... (Also let it be known that I have done only 2 DECA's, and don't consider my self to be a good driver at all) But i am happy to be proven wrong... the results will be up soon... P.S. Hope I didn't crush everyone under the weight of my sarcasm.

My 2c... runnining into the limiter for a couple of seconds if often quicker.. if you compare a couple of seconds of limiter to the time it takes you to change up from 2nd to 3rd then back down to 2nd for the corner... Also if you are wheelspining on the limiter you aren't always hitting a brick wall... you can still be moving forwards... You will notice this if you take off and hit the limiter then immediately change into 2nd gear.. your car will bog down and be off boost... If you take off and bounce of the limiter until you can feel the wheelspin fading out then hitting second you can have a much better launch. FYI my car doesn't make full boost until around 5000rpm... One more... The limiter is an electronic limit put in place to SAVE your engine... i.e. not really gonna be the cause of any breakages... (my car can rev to about 8500 safely... but i have the limiter set at 7000 because thats where the power ends... Therefore well below the safe limit) And if i'm honest... if anyone doesn't like the sound of my limiter they are crazy hahahahaha Its the best!! Limiter for the win...

Awesome shots Jarrod... Needs more Corona though :)

oh yeah... This was the Corona's effort, after I spun out.... Skids for the win!!!

Great to hear that everyone had a good time, thats what these days are all about... It has been said alot but it is definatly deserved, Thanks to the volunteers that helped us out.. Special thanks to Tim and Campbell on the skid pan ALL DAY.. I don't know how you had a voice at the end of the day after yelling 3-2-1-GO On a personal note, It was great to get back out and give the Corona a hard time... I am really happy with how it is going, all my small changes to the front suspension as well as being back up to a lazy 212rwkw's has made it a really fun car.... I had a absolute ball in it... Love the limiter!!! Unfortunately I was knocked out in the arvo after my tailshaft buggered up, which also meant i couldn't drive it home So sunday afternoon was spent getting a lift home from Shep, getting my Patrol and heading back up to Shep with trailer in tow. Loaded the car up and got back to Melb around 9pm.. 7.5 hours of driving in one day FTL... especially if it doens't really take you anywhere.... Look forward to seeing everyone up at the next one in November.... Oh yeah.. GET THOSE PICS AND VIDS UP!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me know anna.. hope you get get better soon

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/vic/northern...ntry/shepparton Weather is always pretty good to us... As I said in the Cruise thread, Make sure you are all up at DECA at 8:00am!! Park in the carpark and start emptying your cars ready for scruitineering... We want to get all the scruitineering and drivers briefing done quickly so that we can get underway and get the most amount of track time on the day... See you all up there...

Good work guys... Just make sure you are all at the DECA facilities at 8:00am ready to go.. This means get yourself some breakfast and have your car fueled up before you get there... Then we can get through scrutineering and drivers breifing quickly and get under way to make sure we get maximum track time!! See you all there! -
The first diagram is just a simple layout of the DECA facilities... All the Long Wang events on this DECA will be as shown on page 6

OK people... have updated the list.. made a few changes and added a few people... Let me know if you have a problem with where i have put you... they still might change.. but i think it should be pretty good like this... Also if your not sure about a job just ask me either on here or PM... Look forward to seeing you all up there bright and early!!

Battles are run in no order at all... you simply line up in two lines, one for each side of the skid pan.. and race whoever you line up against So because of this you can just line up next to your mates or a car that you really wanna race against... just organise it with that person just before the run and line up together.... Its all very simple.... The knockout round is a semi-new idea that we are running with for this DECA day... Everyone will run though the knockout battle map... The winner of each battle will then move on the the next round... this will continue until we come down to our final winner... Don't worry about asking questions... the more questions that are asked now... the less time is wasted on the day.. which mean the more driving that will happen
