  1. The obvious question, ADR? I'm assuming not at the price - but I need them for a Targa car so that may not be an issue. And some I've seen have a "block" on one pair and these haven't?? V interested at that price. Best to email or PM
  2. Thanks for input guys. From what I've read and heard............. Octane rating, RON (Research Octane Number) The most important characteristic of gasoline is its octane rating, which is a measure of how resistant gasoline is to premature detonation which causes knocking. It is measured relative to a mixture of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (an isomer of octane) and n-heptane. There are a number of different conventions for expressing the octane rating therefore the same fuel may be labeled with a different number depending upon the system used. Energy content Gasoline contains about 32 megajoules per litre (MJ/l) or 131MJ/US gallon. Volumetric energy density of some fuels compared to gasoline: From this, an amount of petrol regardless of RON has the same amount of energy or BANG as any other RON petrol. From other info - I think the higher the RON, the slower it burns. A higher RON won't give you more power - but the ability to tune a motor to give more power. I suppose somewhere there is info on ratios of flame speed/burn, compression, piston speed etc. From here in it's getting into a black art.......that I leave to the engine tuner. Any info on after market Jungle Juice appreciated: 1. Name, info on it 2. Distributor + ph no. 3. Price. 4. 1st hand experience with it. Kerry
  3. The car: Stock healthy RB20Det. Only mods were: 2.5" CAT back AVO muffler and catless (no dump) Good air filter element (no pod) Iridium plugs Simple solenoid boost control + 3 deg timing. Stock BOV, Fuel pressure, injectors, intercooler, coils and ECU The car was set up for Targa 04 category 7 (1982-90) L2 (Lightly modefied). It produced 139.5 rwKw at stock boost (10 psi). At + 3 advanced 145.5 at stock boost. At 12.5 psi and the timing it was 150.0rwKW on the dot. All done on a DYNO DYNAMICS DYNAMOMETER by Bradd Sherrif in Launceston on a mild April evening. One year later - after a whole season on the circuit and a Targa Tasmania - the plan was to get 170rwKW. So 13.5 psi and 98 RON plus a little bit more timing was the go. After run 1 in old set up all got was 141kw. Put down to weather conditions, old plugs and engine a bit worn? Put boost up to 13.5 psi - got 145.6kw. Emptied out PULP fuel and put in 98 - and lowered boost to 10psi just in case. 128kw was result. SHOCKED. Put boost up tp 13.5, resulted in 137.5kw - even more SHOCKED. Bradd was in disbelief. Did 2 more pulls, same result. Conclusion: The standard RB20DET likes PULP and the ECU is obviously set up for it. Further info: It has since been mentioned that the ECU works on FUZZY LODIC and is in constant re-tuning mode which takes time and probably would have produced better results if run on 98 fro a while. Also if we had disconnected the battery for a while it may have done the same thing. While I'm no expert on this - facts are facts. But - with a programmable ECU (the HALTEC here now) and the same set-up with 98 I would expect my 170rwKW. Kerry
  4. Re phone call today, consider Brembos sold. PM/email details

  6. Thx TurboX I'm sure Mr Skyline was a Tasmania in his previous life......he created a range of cars especially for this place.
  7. I was only expecting a few cars, BUT there was 7 of us, with a few more from devonport way joining the group at Sheffield. There were: Stuart & Deb (SAU) - 32 GTR Paul (smudgee69) - 33 gtr Me - 32 GTS t Dale & Chris - 33 GTSt Jason - 32 GTR Shane - 32 GTSt Matt - Supra ???? - GTRi Devonport ????? - SSS Devonport As you can see there were more non members than members - but who gives'a. Interestingly there were 4 baby seats (with kids in them) that came along. Good on you dads...we will get them young. Cruised west through Deloraine, Mole Creek, Chudleigh, Gowrie Park, Sheffield. In this we went through 2.5 Targa stages including half of the famous Cethana stage. All up 250 klms. Day was fine and sunny (yes I know it's winter in Tas) but icy in some parts. I will never disregard thoses "ICY" signs again. It was a fun day with a mix of comradeship, Nissan nutting, family and heaps of brisk driving. Kerry Next one 3 - 4 months. Thx STUART for pics
  8. Coming - 2 soon to be members, Chris (R31 RB20) and Dale (R33 Gtst). C U both at Seaport.
  9. C U there JASON. The small bits of ballast will be welcomed. Kerry
  10. Thx Paul - see you there. Sorry mate.....you only allowed 1 psi.....that way we might keep up with you.
  11. Send me an email if you're coming. [email protected] Kerry
  12. Hey all, Sorry no replies to mail....but been on the big island sniffing around at cars (sorry guys old holdens this time) and family footy trip (go the Dees). Hey Drumstick.....sorta. Somewhere in between....nearly my backyard by now as well.... Kerry
  13. Details under Events in Tassie forum.
  14. Meet at Seaport Car Park 9:00am, leave 9:30am. Distance about 250klms return. Snack/bite to eat, refuel at some stage during cruise. Destination and route instructions will be provided on the day. This is NOT a crypic type drive. This is a drive through the countryside to enjoy our cars and other Skyline nutters while obeying traffic rules and speed limits. Sections of the route selected CAN BE quite challenging within the legal limit - so make sure your tyres are good. The cruise will go ahead - rain, hail or snow.......cause I NEED ONE. Pls express your interest on this thread. LUCKYDIP
  15. Hey woolls interested in selling the pipe only, and if so how much? Kerry

  17. Hey MARLIN Luv to meet you....just ask for Kerry at www.jailhousegrill.com.au or if you book in over Targa I'll probably answer the phone. ...and Phat....have I meet you yet?? ....Targa Tom....when in town....you know you gotta come and see me or I'll torch the Val... Kerry
  18. You traitor Targa Tom...after kicking arse and getting that bucket of bolts up to 13/106 OUTRIGHT on day 1 - I thought you would be moving up to a 34 GTR or like.....but a "valiant"...shame on you (ha ha). I also will not be in TT06 this year either. Throwing all at my other circuit 32GTS - and having a ball in the "no rules...but at least I'm racing" Targa class down here in Tassie. Got to hand it to Mark...the whole concept of group racing has been a huge success. It's really refreshing to be racing rather than politicing, especially after having good stints in HQ's and IP over the years. My 32 GTS is wrapped up in the shed after an engine freshen up.....ready to go. It is for sale though ($18,000 will get anyone out there an immaculate car, fully set up for tarmac events) but if I still got it next year will be going to L3 mods hopefully giving it another 60rwkw - then it will be FUN!! MARLIN (and any other SAU Targa/racing nuts)...when down here make yourself know to me - I've got the steak restaurant in L'ton (sorry SAU about the free plug). If you need a hand with any thing, I'll be glad to help. Targa Tom....I think I had Nicole's?? brother at the restaurant on Sat night.....he had a big smile on his face....apparently "testing" the Val around Tassie. And I'll bet you'll miss these crazy but dedicated " NISSAN NUTTERS" that have been on the start of the famouse Hellyer Gorge each year. Hope to catch up with you soon Kerry
  19. I will give you $500 without tyres and I will pay post on them. Interested?? email me
  20. Yes....oops.....definte 125C......been busy building shed for cars.
  21. Interesting this oil temp subject. I circuit race a 32 Gts-t 2.2 with 235RWkw ans using MOTUL 300V chrono 10/40 ($$$) and a heap of Greedy top of line elect gauges, big trust radiator and 9 row oil cooler (originally mounted behind RH guard). First outing last Sept and oil got to 115, water 88. Told this was too high - so moved oil cooler behind intercooler. Next race (bit hotter day) and different track - oil peaked at 225 and water 100 for most of day. Before next meet, I heard that up to 130 Ok, so left oil cooler where it was due to lack of time.....but put in some air deflectors - still ran at 125 and water about 95 all day. About 50ml of oil in catch tank over 3 meets. Oil still looks and smells good. At "brisk driving" (about 80% on track) oil stays at a steady 88. Hope this all helps abit. Kerry
