you get what you pay for in the turbo world ... to create a well balanced high performance turbo you need a LOT of : a: experience b: tooling c: research d: high quality manufacturing all of these equal a product that is not cheap .... but you take you chance, maybe you'll get a decent turbo, or maybe you'll be wasting your $600 .. i know i'd like to know that even as tho i paid just under 2k for my turbo, i KNOW it a good turbo and is not going to let me down, or if it does, then i have a warranty with a reputable company ... just my .02c

I only moved to oz 18 months ago, and about 12 months ago bought a place down in sutherland shire, just outside of sutherland, 3 bed, double garage, 650 Sqm corner block, pool, nice cathedral type cedar celings, paid 580k, then spent another $30k on rennovations ... worth in excess of 650 now aparently .... sister in law is also looking to purchase a flat closer to the city, ashfield type area, shes looking about $300k for a nice 1 - 2 bed apartment with parking space ... seem to be a lot of them around for that sort of $ hope this helps a little

Rear sway bar on R33 GTST - worth it?
tang0 replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
dont suppose you know the part numbers / costs of the top of your head for front / rear swey bars for r33 gts-t ... sizing wise, i was looking for a 27mm up front and a 24 on the back ... any thoughts ? cheers -
could also be something as simple as a hose clip loose / broke etc ... the noise is air escaping from between the rubber pipe and the metal of the tubing ... I had it befor on my mr2 tubby ... sounded exactly like this .. do around and check all the clips on the piping ... if one looks or feels a little loose, tighten or replace it

Skyline R34 GTT Turbo for sale
tang0 replied to alarmguy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
i THOUGHT it was from an r33, as the 45 v1 pertains to the version number, version 1, the turbo that came off my series 2 r33 was a version 4, and i now have a high flow from GCG on there that is a version 3 ... i was told that the lower the V number the older the turbo ... but if people with r34's can confirm that the 45v1 is from an r34 as well ... then who knows ... just down to what the seller says it is ... of which i have NO basis to think hes not telling the truth .... just my 2c -

Skyline R34 GTT Turbo for sale
tang0 replied to alarmguy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
hmm not wanting to rain on your sale ... but that turbo has 45 v1 printed on the side ... this is an early r33 turbo, prolly series 1, the turbo that was on my series 2 was a 45 v4, and i believe is the latest version of turbos they fitted to the r33's .. someone correct me there ... would be worth researching what version of turbo the r34 is supposed to have imho .. just my 2c, and waiting to be stood corrected ... -
Q"s about VVT RB25DET??? WHAT IS WHAT??
tang0 replied to 85URK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this is all very nice ... but does the PFC have the vvt ( or vvl whatever you want to call it ) control built in ... i was under the impression it did not ... but hey, i'll happily be wrong ... anyone know for sure ? cheers -
IF its a head gasket that is ... there is a faily easy way to tell - get a compression test done ... if you are down a LOT on one cylinder then it could be one of 2 things ... blown gasket (shit of a job, but not that expensive in parts) or ring lands / seals shot ... shit of a job AND expensive ... hope its neither tho .... comp test will tell you more ...

i'm only talking of my experiences here, but .. a. you dont need a fuel reg b. the standard afm is fine for the power figures i am running c. yep, that turbo price is about right - i think i paid that, or thereabouts d. get someone who REALLY knows his way around a pfc to tune it properly ... have a look at 'my results' thread i started, 240kw @ 13psi is deffo doable with all the right bits / tuner
-
plenty of ppl on these forums are running hybrid or hybrid copy coolers ... personally i am running a hybrid cpoy at the moment and 240kw runs just find through it ... 2k is just WAAAAAAYYYYY over the top for these sort of power figures, and the price of chinese copy coolers now ... just my 2c

oh, drop me a pm if you want his mobile #

if you pm deatschwerks (David Deatsch [info@deatschwerks.com] ) he can sort you out with a set of 550cc injectors at a V reasonable cost ... like half of hks type price ... anyway, dave tuned my car and got 240kw at 13 psi with a gcg high flow .. basic mods are fmic, pfc, 550's, high flow, 3" turbo back, pump, pod not bad really ... dave really is a total whiz when it comes to finding horsepower ! if he has not tuned it before, then its prolly not worth tuning as far as i can tell ...
-
go the high flow, fmic, powerfc, fuel pump, and bigger injectors ... then get it tuned by dyno dave ....
-
an easy way to tell if its oil or water is to sniff it ... oil will smell, well of burning oil ... water will just smell of normal fumes .... depends on how white it is really .... if its a blown head gasket you could be leaking water AND oil into the cylinders, the result being white smoke ...
-
personally i'm running the stock BOV - holds boost no probs at 13psi and 240kw no real need to change bovs imho ..
-
Hi Basically i have the same as you, only running a pfc instead .... and the tuner REALLY knows his way around the pfc ... not a bad result tho ... how does it drive ?
-
also used for data logging ... its not really easy to look at the hc to see whats going on with the car, so you log it all with the datalogger and play back when you are not travelling at 100k +
-
feels fine, smooth boost, not lumpy at the top, i run a ghost trace on the hand controller and it does not get anywhere NEAR the bottom right hand corner .... the pfc can just be tuned to overcome the limit of the standard afm ...
