Thanks for that paul, i've been surffing the net and have found heaps of different power outputs and kerb weights for the R32 GTS-t but at one site i found that there kerb weight for a manual 5 sp is 1320kg and they put out 158kw at the fly... there fore its only 120ishkw's per tonne.. yeah one that i can drive.. but could i handle the rb20 or should i get another Aussie R31 and wait till i'm off my P's to get something with a little (actually a lot) more go.. ie GTR or 300zx or something like that.. i say the chioce of an aussie r31 cause my last one i owned.. had some legal mods and was able to keep up with a R32 GTS-t M-spec running 10psi with FMIC and zorst. i think it would be better to stick to the when you do it do it once rule cause that way i'll get a car that i love and will be all i want without having to worry about getting done for power to weight thatnks for the comments guys and girls but still has anyone ever been done in the club for power to weight???
-
158kw at fly still takes the cars weight over the power to weight.... but that aside my question that i've been asking is how can it be so that so many p platers drive the GTS model skylines...
-
125kw per tone and its measured at the flywheel and the weight is the manifacturors cerb weight.

Hey boys and girls, well since I've lost my license and had my 1st car written off I've started to consider what i want in my next car. I've been considering all sorts of cars but my main problem is that what ever i drive i want it to be nice, fast BUT 100% legal and I'm aloud to drive it. So i started off on cars that are nice to cruise in and will be legal (or at least i thought they were) R33 GTS-t M-spec nice cars okay not everyones choice but the problem is that when you go to VicRoads and read about P platers power to weight the car is over. it isn't in the list but if your smart enough to do the maths it is over.. and vicroads state that its your responsibility not to drive a car that has a power to weight that is over.. 185kw / 1.35 tone = 137kw per tone.. therefore not aloud R32 GTS-t M-spec love the car but the lack of torque would drive me nuts when taking off in 1st... but i could cope problem its over the power to weight 160kw / 1.26 = 126kw per tone no go again. so i then started to think about R31 coupes and then realised that I'll want to have a sliver top in it cause the chances of getting a NICS is to high. BUT hold on a second... how come I've seen and know so many Victorian P Platers that drive GTS-t and i even know some that drive R34 GTt and they are way over. How can this be? cops can't be that stupid to not know how to work out a simple equation like that... it even worse to think that you can't even drive a falcon with the new DOHC 4lt engine... i just would like peoples opinions on how so much can be gotten away with but as soon as i get a R32 GTR I'll get done... cheers Guys and Gals

Intercooler able to cool intake air to ambient temp?
R31_IceMan replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
okay the temp sensor is in the right spot. its on the intake pipe with the temp sensor inside the pipe. a wolf will not work unless it has this reading. and i though it was shit but lets just say that after 10min of pushing 21psi the car was still reading bellow ambient temp. it is possibile. how does a fridge work. the gasses are compressed and the alowed to expand. the piping from turbo to cooler is 2" and the piping after is 3". i talked to my dad about it the first time i saw the reading cause i though it was impossibile but at the next vic cruise he should be there and you can get in the passanger seat and read it stright off the wolf hand set or of a computer what ever you choose but it does work. Roy i don't have to do that cause the wolf engineer couldn't comprehend what he was seen but after 2 temp sensors and the wolf programer sayinng that the results were right he has a car that is tuned and is pussing the 290rwkw. i don't care i have done physics and i do know that it is not impossibile but it is hard to do and sadly he is one of the guys that has got it to work so he will always kick my arse in a drag on a hot day. -
Intercooler able to cool intake air to ambient temp?
R31_IceMan replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So it measuring the ambient temp and that is what is going into the turbo or a little hotter and what the temp is when it gets just before the t/b. and just as the original post asks it is taking the ambient temp and making the compressed air colder than the ambient. -

The external temp sensor is sitting outside of the car whilst the post intercooler temp sensor is sitting on the intake pipe between the cooler and the t/b and above the rocker cover. dave -

Break stuff or not this does work and its working at 21psi. and the temp sensor is located on the intake pipe above the rocker cover. if HPC coating is just insulating stuff how come its used on drag cars, military aircraft, race cars, space ships and it does a little more than insulate. it lets out heat but not letting heat in. Intercooler able to cool intake air to ambient temp?
R31_IceMan replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Predator, were not talking about it going through the engine. the air that is compressed had no contact with air that is from the engine. and yes there is a formula but there is not point telling anyone cause it will just look like letters to everyone. as for my mates cooler i have no idea how the **** it works. all i know is that if i had the money i'll HPC coat everything that i could Dave -
Intercooler able to cool intake air to ambient temp?
R31_IceMan replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well i disagree with the engineer even though my dad has been for over 35yrs. you can and i have seen it. a mate R31 turboed with HKS coller 600x300x75 and HPC coated piping normally has the intake temp at 18deg. and this was on a 27deg day. you should see what its like when we were pushing the car in a 9deg night the intake side said 4deg. now you think how does he know its right. well its running a Wolf and the programer from wolf thought the temp sensor was broken so he replaced to find the same result. HPC coated piping rocks and gets insane results like this. cheers Dave -
Just wanting to know the pros and cons of going bar and plate????????? or Tube and Fin????????? This is cause i have a custom bar and plate lined up for better than what a HKS tube and fin will cost including 3" piping. cheers Dave
-
Where did you guys get your hks kits??? how much??? how long to install??? thanks Dave

i have a rb20 and i want more out of it so i was considering going to a t3 turbo so that i can get more out of the engine and more power. but i just read in HIP that a guy high flowed his stock turbo and is running 1.5bar on it and just hitting under 200rwkw's. How much does it cost to high flow the rb20 turbo???? and which is better sock with 1.5bar or vg30 turbo with 1.2 bar???? What do you guy like nice and quick response and 200rwkw's or little lag and 200rwkw's cheers Dave

i'll like to see what the cars do on the strip if u guys don't mind a shitie R31 Sillo and a HR31 GTS Nismoid running i have to choose which one but i think it will be the GTS cheers Dave
