  1. Had a look at the GTR pinouts, there almost identical to the RB25, only having an extra few wires connected for 2nd AFM and OXY sensor. SO are the knock sensors on the GTRs definately different to the RB20/RB25?
  2. paulr33:- You can't adjust the microtech injector increments, thats why im forced to run richer than needed. Seems like 10 to 11 litres per 100kms is posible with 400-550cc injectors, sounds much better than the 13-14per100km i was getting. Im serriously looking at going power FC with my next engine set-up in my GTS4, plus im going to use GTR head with multi-throttles so a AFM ecu is almost necessary. Anyone else got some fuel economy figures to share?

OK say i run my 550cc injector at 1.0 m/s and it runs a AFR of 14.0:1(a bit rich), then say the next step down on the microtech is .93 m/s it then runs an AFR of 15.3:1 (too lean and wont run smooth). 2. Ok then say a stock 270cc injector at 1.0 m/s runs an AFR of 14.0:1, then at the next step down .93 m/s it runs an AFR of 14.7:1. So as you can see the smaller the injectors the finer/better they can be tunned and the better economy you can get.
  4. Bigger injectors cant be fine-tunned aswell as smaller injectors at Low opening periods ( say around 1 millisecond). I have found with the microtech that i need to run the larger (550cc) injectors slightly richer than necessary to get smooth running than i would with a stock 270cc injector.
  5. As the title says, im interested to know what fuel economy people are getting out of their RB30det engines, especially if your running larger than stock injectors. Also list what ECU your running. Im getting 13.3 litrees per 100kms (some hi-way, and some town driving) using a microtech ECU and 550cc injectors, i think this is pretty poor, and would like to improve on it. Post away peoples......

  7. OK, anyone used a RB26 power FC to run a RB20??? SK:- how do you wire the AFM if you use a RB20 loom which only has one AFM wiring??

  9. So were exactly did you drill the holes into for the bottom gearbox mounts?
  10. Id say you turbo is worn out, that screaming noise when it comes on boost ids most probably the compressor wheel rubbing against the comp cover (not good). I d check it out for shaft play.
  11. Also interested to find out what the Performance springs are like, im looking at a set for GTR. Any one got any feedback on their quality/price pre set???

  13. joel, So were did the 8.3 figure come from that everyone used to say was the comp ratio using std n/a pistons?
  14. My engine that made 312rwkw was a completely stock n/a bottom end with 300,000kms before the conversion. I had this engine in the car for 2 years and is still a good motor, tunning is very important. When i had a high-flow turbo on the engine it made ~240rwkw. So sell your rb30et bottom end and buy a RB30 n/a motor, bolt the rb25 head.....
  15. Joel, So are you saying the RB30e pistons are 1cc dished?? Arent they normally dome tops? so what comp ratio do you work out with the RB30e pistons, and RB25n/a head? Are tht CP pistons that are made for the conversion the same dome as a RB30e piston?

  17. My RB30det conversion cost around $5000, and made 312rwkw, since youve got most of the RB30 det parts, go do it, the torque is amazing compared to a RB20...........
  18. Are these VL turbo pistons? to get a comp ratio of around 8.3:1, you need some dome tops dont you??

  21. Anyone know:- Can 270 degree 10.3mm lift cams be run with stock lifters and stock springs? Also Pete:- how much diference in midrange did the 270/10.25mm cams have compared to the 260/ 9.15mm ??
  22. What makes you say rb25 and rb26 bottom ends are better compared to rb30????????
  23. mates VL has got nizpro plenum, and bigger lift cam, but not sure how that would compare to twincam. the car your talking about that spools 10psi at 3300, is it Auto or manual? Auto trans makes a big difference to spool, another lad with a RB30det, 35/40 with .82 exh, Auto makes full boost by 2800rpm, compared to my same motor with same turbo makes full boost at 3400rpm.
  24. Its just my mate has the 1.06 on his VL turbo 5 speed, doesnt make full boost till 4200-4300RPM. 1.06 should have bit better economy than .82 etc., will be good to compare tonce you get it tuned.
  25. Are the injectors stock top feed rb25 n/a, or side feed rb25 turbo? Yeah, i dont get the 15psi with that turbo making so much power, id like to see it on a dynodynamics dyno to compare the reading.
