Hi, I've posted this in another topic but arent getting any replies probably due to the fact that the other topic is about something else. the problem i'm getting is that If i start my R33 with the handbrake up, my ABS light stays on. However if i start it with the handbrake down, there is no ABS light. So, i'm thinking its a sensor or wiring problem... just wondering if anyone knows where I should start looking.. any help would be great. Thank you. Regards Steve

Buzzing Abs Unit
Scooby_Steve replied to Scooby_Steve's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Guys, After taking off the cover on the little black box, the unit doesnt buzz anymore when the power is connected, thus somehow by taking off the cover and putting it back on, the buzzing is now gone when the ignition is off. Lastly, my ABS light is still on (was on prior to the buzzing) and I noticed that it will only stay on if i start the car with the handbrake on. If I turn the car on with the handbrake down, then their is no ABS light. So it looks like it could be a wiring or sensor issue? Anyone know where I could start looking?? thanks -
Buzzing Abs Unit

Hi Guys, I checked my ABS unit and noticed a little black box... so is that what you were talking about Locky? I have taken the cover off and there are two white fuses (looks more two white blocks). When you shake it, there is something rattling inside the fuse that the power cable connects to so I think that that is the reason.. can you get these fuses replaced as it seems like they are glued on very very well... Stephen, if i find out that my cylinders are OK and that I need something from your abs unit, i'll buy it off you.. Cheers guys. -

Buzzing Abs Unit
Scooby_Steve replied to Scooby_Steve's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi, I did have a faulty rear solenoid according to a diagnostic hand held computer... The mechanic was able to remove the error code in the ABS computer but not the error code indicating that the rear solenoid was faulty.. this could be the problem. -
Hi, Just wondering if anyone could give me a basic idea of what is wrong with my car before I take it to the brake specialist or auto electrician... so they dont talk a whole heap of sh*t to me.. Recently, after of turn my car off, my ABS Module continues to buzz and eventually, overnight, will use all of the charge in my battery. I have since disconnected the power to the ABS module and the car can start even after 4 days of not being turned on. (I do reconnect the power to the ABS module when I'm driving). Prior to this my ABS light was coming on after turning the car on but will intermittently go away for a few trips then reappear. LASTLY i think my ABS Module has sh*t itself. So if anyone could shed some light, It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Regards Steve

Is this what you call lag or something else?
Scooby_Steve replied to Scooby_Steve's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi, A mate of mine told me to clean the AFM so I cleaned and the car now seems to go alot better. I havent pushed it hard all through the gears (only 1st and 2nd) but the lag as mentioned between 3-5K rpm is now gone. I'll do more testing this weekend and let you all know the result. -
Hi, Interested, but dont know too much. Just starting out. Just wondering if software is required? what does the other end of the serial cable connect to? laptop?

Engine is cutting out on standard boost
Scooby_Steve replied to Scooby_Steve's topic in General Maintenance
Hi, Could be now that you've said that... I did get a flat battery the other day for no apparent reason... just about sure lights were off when I parked (it was night time) and when i woke up to go to work, no battery power.. hmmm.. i'll check.. but never thought battery would have anything to do with it. -

Hi, I found that by taping the coils, my hesistation, backfiring goes away so I know i've got cracked coils however, if in 4th or 5th gear I and decide to overtake, sometimes it will just cut right off and then go again so i dun know whats going on there. -
Lanfoh, I downloaded the hybrid installation manual and where it says to cut the 3"hole, i've got a washer bottle that covers that area... where as the pictures in the manual there is none.

Hi, The mods are as what i have listed... i know its not much but its a start...lol. -
Hi, I put a cooler on my car approx 2mths ago and since then I noticed a flat spot from around 3500-5000 rpm. The piping is 2.5" back to both the standard piping (ie routed behind the cooler). However, on the left end tank of the cooler (looking from front), I've got a 180 Deg Bend that was cut and modded (made it a mitred 180 Deg bend) to allow the bend (as i'm still using standard front bar) so i can route the piping behind the cooler. Would this be a problem for pressure and flow? Also the size of the cooler is a 800x600x73 (i think 73 anyway). I've also got a 3" turbo back exhaust running 10psi boost. Another factor is my coil pack were crappy at that very time as well and i have taped and siliconed them..No longer misfires but i have read that main "missfiring thread" and in that thread some people where getting flat spots roughly around that rev range. As a result, my car is running slower than it was with just a stock cooler and 3"exhaust (9psi) So is it my cooler size, cooler piping or is it the result of dodgy ignitor coils? Any help would be great.
-
Hi, Slightly off the topic, is the shortest piping meant to go to the turbo??? just wondering cause I can not use the hybrid design on my car... I've got a washer bottle where the drivers side piping is meant to go.
-
Hi, Thanks Modr33s2... Ok I think I'll give it a try.. I also got a similiar setup but I "mitred" joined my 180 Deg bend so that I could go back behind the cooler without going in front of the front left wheel but I seem to be having some probs... I mite consider setup like yours.. looks better also. Thanks again.
-
Hi, Modr33s2, did you use a standard 180 Degree bend or did you have to modify this to fit? I've noticed that you have a standard front bar (in your pic)? Lastly, the piping that runs from the left hand side (looking front on) of the cooler, did you route that to the turbo pipe or inlet manifold pipe? Anyways, thanks guys for your input..
