Rb25 Exhaust Cam - Retune Required?
MANWHOR3 replied to MANWHOR3's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
remap = $300 by our forumn member toshi. Sorry about the confusion, what I meant was exhaust cam gear. These are known to give improvements. Paul, I'm not new to skylines, and i'm not asking the usual question, oh, my car has more boost, it runs like shit what is it. I've read almost everything everyone has said about it on SAU and I know that it's the stock ecu running it like shit. I ran it on the dyno, and AFR were down to between 9 and 10. What I am asking is not about whether getting an exhaust cam gear will give performance improvements or whether a tune is good. I am getting it remapped regardless. I just want to know whether I need to get it retuned after exhaust cam gear install. I imagine it would need to be tuned, since the cam gear will change airflow. -
gday fellars. Ash, before you say search, I have. Atm, I've bascially done all the usual mods e.g. exhaust, cooler, air filter, fuel pump etc. I'm looking at getting it tuned, coz it's running liek crap with stock ecu. I will get an exhaust cam gear at some stage (thinking about it when 100000ks comes, and I have to do the timing belt). If I install the cam gear later and dial it into the correct setting, will I have to get it retuned. i.e. should I just get the cam gear now before tune? Cheers

How Do I Remove The S1 Grill?
MANWHOR3 replied to ignuz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hehehe, I was only joking. lol. -
R ugly poos are getting a bit long in the tooth. OVer the years, sludge may have accumulated in the bottom of the fuel tank. running it empty may have sucked it up and blocked the fuel filter.

Whats The Symptoms Of A Blown Turbo?
MANWHOR3 replied to hijaked's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Luckily it's not an r34 whale, otherwise it'd be even heavier and slower -
no power - is your turbo blonwn? does it still make boost? Sensor- doesn't matter. either do or don't.

Heavy Steering After Doing Donuts
MANWHOR3 replied to cogs's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Fellars. I know what the problem is!!!!! yipeee. hehehe. In all seriousness, when I was mucking around iwth my cluster, my speedo unit in the cluster wasn't connected properly. My speedo didn't show speed and the hicas light would come on and power steerin would be lost. Most likely what happened, is when you were chucking it, maybe the speedo came loose? It's not as silly as it seems. Once I was doing donuts and the interior light cover fell off.. -
That's pretty normal for an r32 stock turbo, especially without a boostcontroller (just using the stock actuator alone). If you have a look in the forced induction section, people have posted responses on how to solve this problem. Personally, i'm using the jaycar iebc. It has allowed me to sustain 10-11psi all the way to the redline, and build boost much quicker too.

Paul r33. The problem with the stock smic is not the positino. It's fine. It's nicely ducted. There are two problems with it: 1. it's restrictive. That is, the cross sectional area is small, so it doesn't flow very well at high boost. That's why it's common to have a 2 psi drop at 12 psi. at stockish boost (like 8psi, it's not noticeable). 2. It doesn't cool very well. This is becaause it's so small. Need I say more? A larger smic, is both thicker, taller and maybe even wider. I have an r34 smic. It's 20 mm thicker and I think about 1 inch taller (from memory, so someone correct me if i'm wrong). It has been worked out that the cross sectional area is 60% better, so it should be less restrictive. Furthermore, the extra thickness and height means it has more cooling surgace

Ok, Let me tell you a simple solution. I had this problem a little while back, and I took care of it quicksmart the intelligent way. Firstly, think about it this way. If someone has a problem with me, I want them to come up to me and tell me, not tal about it behind my back. The car is mine, not my parents. I'm 20, and my parents are not responsible for my car. I similarly had people complaining to my parents. They just gave me the letter. Secondly, if I had a complaint, I would let them know that i'm the one who has the problem. Their annoynymous letter is just being plain wimpy. It's just like sending an anonymous letter to someone going, you're a dickhead, but I'm not going to tell you who I am, coz i'm scared of you. These two reasons above are reasons why I think they are wimps. What you do, is leave the letter. Continue as you were all along. If they continue to be annoyed, they will eventually make themselves known to you, and you can deal with them directly. Eventually, the party made themselves known to me. As I am a law student, I am familar with the different provisions of the law relating to car modifications and noise, emissions etc. I went over there quick smart. I said to him calmly that in the future, if there is ever any issues, come directly to me and deal with me. I'm not a scary person. I then proceeded to explain to him the situation and that my car complies with the relevant laws. Of course my exhaust is probably too loud etc, but I said to him that it wasn't. I then proceeded to say that I have as much right to use the street as they do. My idoling of the car is during normal hours of the day. There are plenty of noises all around. 90 db is softer than the sound of a vaccuum cleaner (ours is 95 db). I told them for this reason that they should seriously get over it and stop fussing, because I idol for like 1 minute at max. Vaccumming takes like 1 hour. In your position, I feel that your neighvour is being worse then my neighbour. Not only is your neighbour a wimp for the two reasons mentioned above, they are further wimps for another reason. They insult and judge you, when they are in no position to. TEll them, don't judge people unless if you're perfect. Find stuff that they do wrong, and say, I will not go to your level and insult people behind their back. you use the hose to water the lawn...blah blah blah etc. But I don't judge you, insult you behinmd your back saying your not a community person, an unemployed old dickhead etc. after that, I was never spokenn to again.
