What Is The Rarest Stag Part You Have Or Seen?
Hertz Donut replied to dirtyRS4's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Can anyone tell me what (if anything) would have been stuck on the centre console of a PNM35 just between the shifter surrond and the storage box? there's a very faint rectangular-shaped impression on mine that looks like there was maybe a sticker there in the past, it's too precis to have been a random JDM stick-on toy. Sadly after 9 years of the protective film staying stuck on the alloy sill plates in my car it took all of 2 weeks for my son to scrape it off climbing in and out. The left-side one is still there but loking the worse for wear. Nothing survives kids. -
Just to add to the thread, the VQ30DET M35 is here: http://www.performancecar.co.nz/articles/2001-nissan-stagea-300rx-fresh-and-clean-158

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Hertz Donut replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I'd spend a lot more money (and have in the past) if it was going to be a track car, but all I'm after is something to give the car a bit more of a decent sound and stop my wife from wincing every time she starts it up. It just sounds anaemic compared to our Commodore. Maybe not so keen if it means removing the driveshaft loop though. Will think it over, cheers. -

Hmm...is that the same story for the PNM35? The lack of exhaust noise is something that annoys my wife about the Stagea. I got quotes for custom exhausts that are incompatible with marital congress but if I can just swap the mid-pipe cheaply for a bit more noise then it could be an option. I remember V36 components also being compatible but can't remember which. [edit] Actually I just googled it up and found the Youtube clip, nm. [/edit] -
And why not eh? I mean, everyone raves about nitrous oxide, and we all know hydrogen is more explosive than nitrogen...

Shed Prices And Questions
Hertz Donut replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
It could be worse, yeah. At the moment I have a leaky 6x6 carport partly filled with firewood and a leaky 3.6x2.4 shed that's falling apart and packed to the gunwales with junk so all my power tools and trolley jack are at the foot of the bed. fml. -
Too soon, junior.

(Probably as good a time to ask as any...) PN-Mad, did you ever find the upper limits of the RE5 box? I know a shift kit will help and Nissan put them behind VK56s in Titans but I suck at teh Google and never found out what their max torque handling capability is. A lot of people focus on building a reliable FI motor but neglect the rest of the driveline. -

But have you made that decision without actually trying it first? I'm guessing you have. While I'll agree that steam cleaning bustier carpets can damage the pile, using a steam cleaner on crotchless carpets can invigorate the weave and provide a pleasant warming sensation. They don't call it a Rug Doctor for nothing you know. -

Fridgeception eh? Kudos for the colour-matching too. -

I feel so ripped off. All I've found in my M35 is four Shinkansen maps (complete with anime-style illustrations) and what I can only guess is a personal letter typed in Japanese. -

I think Brick killed a guy with a trident. Anyhooo...I washed my Stagea, or more specifically my wife and kids washed it. Then we headed out to the seaside, where there was a Sou-Easter blowing, and the car got covered in salt spray. Pointless car wash was pointless. Fortunately my kids looove washing the car. Yay me etc. -
Insurance Prices In New Zealand
Hertz Donut replied to farcough's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just turned 40 (gag), '04 PNM35 Stagea, stock, $430-odd a year I think. Also '96 Commodore, headers, exhaust, 18s, suspension mods, $260 per year full cover all declared. Through ShareNZ brokers. When I was 31 I had an EK4 Civic with a K20A a 6-speed box from a DC5R Integra in it, intake, headers and exhaust, TE37s, lots of suspenion and brake mods and so on, was $910 full cover and agreed value of $28K. -
Beige is also the colour of NZ's greatest cricketing years, as commemorated by the Beige Brigade. Erm, we'll conveniently ignore the score in the background...

Awww, no love for the beige...

You may find this to be very informative for specs and colours: http://history.nissan.co.jp/STAGEA/M35/0408/index.html Someone else can speak for the AWD differences between the two models but I believe it's basically NM35 = hydraulic engagement of front shaft and PNM35 = electronic engagement.

Well I just did a 450km round-trip last night and today in my PNM35, and while it's not a devastatingly quick car it's more than capable of overtaking with reasonable gusto. The only real downside I've found on mine is the brakes are underdone for such a hefty beast. I can only imagine a PM35 would be even more point-and-squirt fun with 90kg(?) less weight and all the power going to the rear, but I can't imagine the handling keeping up with the touge run I did through the local gorge.

My PNM35 key only has 2 buttons, the third space just has a filler in it with 3 horizontal lines. Sadly I only have the one key.

Yet Another Pop-Up Screen Issue - Pnm35
Hertz Donut replied to Hertz Donut's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Ok thanks, I'll give it a try. Is there any easy/non-damaging spot to get something like a screwdriver under to lift it? It's completely within the housing so I can't grab it with my fingers. -
After nearly 3 months of ownership I finally had 5 seconds to myself to have a look around my PNM35. I'm stoked to report it's in astoundingly good nick, with the only signs of deterioration underneath being the outer wall of the exhaust rusting in a couple of small spots. Good excuse for an exhaust change then. When I start the car the DVD player makes a shuffling noise, the radio works (albeit on Japanese frequencies) and the aircon seems fine on every setting, but the pop-up screen shows no signs of life at all, no noises to indicate it's trying to come out or anything. Note this is a non-Bose setup. I had a look in the driver's footwell fuse box and as far as I can tell the only slot missing a fuse is one in the middle on the top row, which the diagram doesn't have a rating for, just some Japanese text in a smaller box. Is this supposed to have a fuse in it, and if so what rating? Under what circumstances does the screen come up? Whenever the car is turned on? Or just when certain functions are performed such as putting the car in reverse? It's hard to diagnose an issue when I don't know if it should actually be doing anything in the first place. I tried searching but every topic I looked at seemed to end with an unanswered question or wasn't quite what I was after. Thanks in advance.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?

Just took mine for a small 200-odd km road trip, loaded up with about 200kg of tools and my father-in-law (nuthin' suss...). I'd forgotten how much grip this thing has, I smoked the gorge about half-way through the trip, much to the chagrin of the a-hole who'd spent the better part of 40km wedged up my exhaust pipe. There may also have been a minor drift around a downhill, off-camber 55km/h corner. Father-in-law now wants an M35, although he did ask me if I'd noticed how much the rear end looks like a Volvo... -

If being on Internet forums has taught me anything, it's that emoticons/smilies can go a long way to indicating the intent of a post. If you're joking around and you're not 100% sure everyone else reading it will get it, throw in a smiley for reinforcement. Just make sure it's a clear one - thumbs-up and thumbs-downs in particular can come across as sarcastic. I try to adopt a policy of approaching a new forum as if I'm starting a new job - you're polite and respectful when you first join, after a while you can slip in the odd witticism, and before you know it you're one of the crowd, where everyone understands your sense of humour and can tell when you're just having a bad day. I also do my best to avoid sledging, because one day I just might meet the guy I've enraged in real life and I'll discover he's 6ft 9in tall, made out of granite and finds me irresistably sexually attractive. <-- Required smiley...

That's A Nice Looking Volvo Mate.......
Hertz Donut replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Gents (and Ladies, if there are any on the Internet), I have sobering news. The M35 has been decreed a van by my son's primary school teacher - "Will you be bringing the van along again?" she asked recently when arranging a school trip. She's American though so her taste in vehicles is suspect anyway. As you were.
