Nissan Stagea Manual M35 2002
Hertz Donut replied to KiwiRS4T's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
The only manual conversion I knew of was a pearl white colour, there must be at least 2 of these running around to make me extra jealous. -
A++ feedback, would trade again.

Can't edit my last post but I found this elsewhere, which seems to answer my question: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/288150-m35-brembo-brake-coversion/?p=5725446 Just in case I can't convince her to splash out $4K on brakes for a family wagon, anyone got feedback on the RDA slotted and dimpled OEM replacements? I'm after performance over looks. Also, I see people have used EBC Reds, anyone have other/better options? I haven't bought decent brakes in nearly 10 years, fml.

My wife has decided she's not a fan of the PNM35's brakes and is talking about upgrading them. Far be it from me to go against my wife's wishes... Given it'll most likely be a budget upgrade, my best options are modded R33 GTR or 350Z non-Brembo, correct? I'll probably be restricted to 17s still, it's hard convincing an accountant to spend unnecessary money on a depreciating asset. Sigh. Maybe if someone has the time and knowledge (I have neither) they could knock up a summary post for each model?

Opinions + Tips Of Keeping Car On The Street
Hertz Donut replied to Albus's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that sleepers are the way to go these days. In NZ car theft is endemic and people just don't care about the property of others, so I've given away the idea of having a nice looking car. My VS Commodore looks like a beaten-up POS, with peeling paint, dents, scrapes, curbed old alloys and so on. It's the sort of car they'd buy on Top Gear for their beater challenges, you'd avoid parking next to it at the mall because you know the owner doesn't care if the doors get banged up getting in and out. You'd never guess it was packing over 600hp. PS: 600+hp engine not installed yet, or even purchased, currently running whatever's left of 200hp... -
Rough break with the Audi. I've looked at German cars longingly for years, but I think if I bought one it'd have to be an old one (mid '90s or earlier) so every time something broke I could say to myself "it's 20 years old, something was bound to fail..."

Sway bars are a wear and tear item, surely.

Never seen this done before, that front guard looks like it's had a fair amount of work to get the crease line in it.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Hertz Donut replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I dropped a nut (steady on...) in the engine bay of my Commodore a couple of years ago while I had the intake manifold off and the valley exposed. No idea where it went but the car still hasn't died. WHY WON'T IT DIE? GAAAAHHHHH!!! -
What about the TB48-powered Patrols? Over here in NZ they're fairly scarce but don't seem to attract the ludicrous Toyota Tax.
-
Pads were low, rotors were warped, and you made the prudent choice considering OEM parts for M35s are hard to get and very expensive. And other excuses.
-
My pop-up screen doesn't, er, pop up, and doesn't respond to the "slap it on top" trick either, it's like there's no power to it or something. The DVD drive whirs on start-up but that's all. Is it simple to remove all this crap and fit a pocket? I've had the car for over 2 years and really haven't noticed not having the screen, so a little weight saving #becauseiwishitwasaracecar wouldn't hurt.

Trans coolers are cheap as hell, and quick and easy to fit aren't they? *cocks gun for Conan*

Oh lawd. Stop. Stop stop stop stop stop. Stop. "I think" doesn't cut it when it comes to rego, unless you intend to keep it off the street, permanently. Find out FOR SURE if it's still able to be rego'd before doing ANYTHING else. There's no need to rush through this, you'll only get further in the hole. I really hope this works out for you, but you need to step back and do some due diligence before carrying on.

SR20DETs can make 400kW. SR20DEs, you'll be spending a lot of money to make 200kW. A "T" makes a big difference. Now, I'm from a small set of islands far off the East coast of Aussie, but from what I understand "over 10 grand in second hand parts" and "P plate legal" don't really go hand-in-hand, unless maybe that's all stereo gear or a very, very fancy set of wheels that will go missing in about 4 weeks' time. I thought engine mods were pretty much a no-no?

Odometer Rollback In The States
Hertz Donut replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If ever there's one country in which you don't want to try dodgy business dealings, it's the US. I expect sooner or later there will be legal cases popping up that will require penalties set not only to the maximum levels above, but also payment of millions of dollars for "emotional distress" and so on. -
Yeesh, not a fan of that C-pillar.

I have a 20l jerry can a bit like this one: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Willow-Jerry-Can-Fuel-20-Litre.aspx?pid=8602#Recommendations I don't think I've ever seen one flat enough to fit one in the compartment under the boot floor, and for a trip across the Nullarbor I'd rather take 20l than 10l. Don't forget to pack a couple of spare AFMs too.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Hertz Donut replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Man I'd love to have a go at an event like that one day. A quarter mile always seems to be a bit of a tease. -

And a little boy waits... -
Interesting you guys have trouble with height. I'm 5ft 10in and 92kg but I'm very short in the legs so have an upper body the length of someone about 6ft 2in, and I can get the seat low enough to have a decent amount of head room. My wife, who's only a fraction shorter than me (but in proportion so shorter in the body), jacks the seat up high and that starts to get tight but otherwise I've had no trouble with clearance. It took a while to get used to the base height after my Commodore but otherwise it's fine. Maybe they changed for the facelift models?

Bride have M35-specific seat rails. Model is RB and/or RK from memory.
