this happend to a mate's mrs's silvia non-turbo auto. Thing revved out before it could change gears. she eventually had to replace the gear box (could have been rebuilt, but got a replacement for like $250). Try changing your trans fluid to some high quality stuff possibly from the redline range and get your filter done at the same time (basically a trans service, but u should supply some good tranny fluid) and see if that helps after a few days. You might be able to salvage the box (possibly for like a few more months or something) There is also a pin which who ever services it will know about, that will determine how smooth the changes are, he will be able to put a longer one in so that the changes are harder but the box should last longer. U don't have much time before it just goes on you. Service the auto as soon as you can and whatever you do, don't thrash your car!

something that has been annoying me for a while is the noise coming from the injectors on my rb20. My friends SR20's (both of them) have the same issue. If it wasn't for this my engine would purr. Bone stock engine and car. Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem, aside of changing the injectors them selves? I've searched and most people find this problem to be blocked lifters or exhaust manifold leaks, but this ticking noise is definetly coming from the injector/fuel rail area

top set up man. good to see a few more people getting carputers. looks very stock and secure. I took the easy way and just got the in-dash motorised unit. Using a compaq micro unit mounted underneath the drivers seat with a usb connection to one of newkleer's ECU diagnostic/consult read-out black boxes permanently. There are two things that annoy me, 1 is that I have to turn the computer on and off manually, if i don't then the batter will die. The second is as i'm running a cable from the headphone output on the computer to the rca aux in on the head unit and cop interference. The interference isn't too bad, but how did you hook up the power? i'm using a power inverted which I have to turn on and off manually, then the computer goes along with it. problem is, if i turn the inverter off, the computer just turns off. So yeah, how do you have yours running?

got 1 off ebay a few weeks ago, top stuff. shifting is not as short i would have expected but it did wonders for the r32 gtst changing feel.

I WANT PICS!!! I didn't just read 8 pages of pointless banter for nothing!!! I'd like to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Dandenong is notourious for these kinds of incidents. I mean, it seem ridiculous to have a guy who is driving a reasonably expensive car willingly crash it for a bit of road rage however, stranger things in dandy have happenend and there are many people pinging off what ever drugs they are on to do some bs like this.

not sure on how to fix your problem, one thing is for sure though. DO NOT USE SYTHENTIC BRAKE FLUID!!! use regular mineral brake fluid otherwise you will destroy your seals and then you will leak clutch fluid until you cannot select gears properly and have to top up clutch fluid regularly like i do, until you either replace the clutch master cylinder or rebuild it with a seal kit.

i know i've run an atmo blow off valve without any sort of stalling or Bs. Just gotta make sure you cap the intake pipe properly to prevent any measured air from escaping (thus running less air compared to fuel). I do agree blow off vales save compressor wheels. Not so much when you occasionally give it to the car, but at the point where the turbo is glowing hot and relatively mallable, having a ton of air wack up against the turbine blades will bend them back and forth and weaken them till they snap. Now, i hear a lot of people say that the computer is supposed 'account' for the vented air going back into the intake... if you are not accelerating, how are you supposed to be running rich?????? there is no accounting for shit because you have let go of the accelerator. By the time you resume acceleration, the vented air has dissipated along with the atmospheric air/ or what has been sucked in by the turbo. There is a fixed amount of air between the intake of the turbo and the air filer and all that piping in between. when the excess air is blow off back into the intake, it will not go into the turbo (because as the throttle is closed there is really no pressure to allow it go in there) so it will push out the air which is around the air filters until it is ready to be sucked in. Basically, when you plumb back, i reckon you are still technically venting to atmosphere. It doesn't make sense that you will run rich because you are not accelerating. I know I haven't had any issues with an atmo blow off valve. Blow off valves are good, either atmo or plumb back, because they save your turbo from counter forces and still allow it to spin freely and with the left over momentum, build up boost quicker. The only time i'ver ever seen people run rich and have their cars stagger is when the have a massive air/pressure leak after the AFM causing the engine as we all know to not recieve the air it has percieved for the amount of fuel it is getting. Too rich...we all know what happens. you must block the pipe off properly. Did i miss something? This is just my theory on what happens, correct me if i'm wrong.

How To - Megan Racing Short Shifter Install
SuAvE-1 replied to sidewazegtst's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
good write up man. just installed my own short shifter and i was stuck till i got your write up on the screen in the car. very helpful. 1 thing though, possibly due to being a different kit, but the (4) bolts for the bracket are ample length, you just have to flip the two surrounding brackets up the opposite way so that it will grab on to the screws. I used the generic one off ebay, seems like its all good! Thanks -
Hey ppl, I got my r32 gts-t coupe stock suspension out and in good nick, i'm looking for either a stock r32 or r33 steering wheel and gear knob in decent nick to straight swap with. I will also throw in an untested instrument cluster with white dials that light up blue at night. cluster has 78,000k on the clock i think. Not willing to go pick up items or send (lost license and hard to get around). Will send through post office for incentive. [email protected] or 0402298413 Lior.

they got templates for many of the skylines and most of the bmw's, but they will need a sample car to measure up if they do not have the template.

Just changed the plugs in my hcr32, thought I'd test the resistance of the packs... On every plug I got 1.3ohms. Unless i'm reading that wrong, aren't they supposed to be 0.6-0.9ohms? (rb20det.com). Would this be hindering my spark? Anyone got any input? Thanks. Lior

go for it man, i've had my rx-7 and my 32 done by these people. They are based in dandenong and they've done excellent jobs each time. No one can tell that they are seat covers to begin with, let alone not leather.

In Victoria, in numerous instances I have seen a LOT of b.s with cops. They get bored, jealous, want to vent their frustration just like anyone else, but they can do it to other people because they can. They can b.s their ass off if they want, and its not so much the b.s that they are spitting, its the fact that all the other cops will back it up because "if he is lying, he will lose his career... i doubt he put all that on the line just for you" This covers all their ass's and although it sounds logical, it makes the cops word bullet proof. if they tables were reversed, it would sound something like this: I doubt that this guy was really doing a burn-out, it doesn't make sense to contest the law and spend all that money on a good lawyer, unless he was really innocent ey? I felt I needed to get that off my chest.

Bugatti Veyron Dethroned Already?
SuAvE-1 replied to Big Rizza's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i don't know how much of you know they Saleen, for those who watch top gear and some discovery channel show which reviewed all the current supercars, you would know that the saleen S7, not this new one, but the current one, can hold its own weight in down force. It can literally drive up-side-down apparently. It doesn't need 4wd because it has also been well designed. People who read Jeremy Clarkson's review of the veyron would know that its top speed cuts down to about 340 or 360 (can't remember exactly) when the wing is up, otherwise it would be wayy too dangerous. I'd take the saleen. -
Jeez man, I got a friend with a SR20 180, same problem as you describe. The biggest problem is when we take it to our mechanic, the car doesn't act up - mech thinks we're paranoid. I went to hook up my diagnostic computer and it didn't do it then either! I have a theory, there might be some crud in your fuel tank, because It always seems to happen when he is very low on fuel. Try filling up to the brim and see if it goes away. If we fix the problem on the 180, I will try and remember to post it here.

seriously it depends on what you feel like at the time, but i tell u what - lamb is chosen 19/20 times. The 20th time is becuase i trip out every now and again. Garlic sauce 4 sure. Apparently chilli and bbq is da bomb but i can't stand wasting a good kebab if i don't like it, so i'll stick with garlic until the joint runs out of it.

Nissan and pre 04 cars: my assumption goes with that crowd that believes that nissan wants to cover their ass, regardless of the facts about ethanol fuel. I'm sure nissan sold a lot of cars in 2004 THAT STILL HAVE THEIR NEW CAR WARRANTY. Think about it. I also doubt there will be any diff between a 04 and 05 maxima (for example). i'm pretty sure Nissan (and any car manufacturer for this matter) are liable for any damage which occured under the warranty, even if they claim it after the warranty has expired. If ethanol does turn out to cause damage to our cars, nissan doesn't want to be held responsible. on the 100 ron - yea, theory tells us that we gotta re-tune the car. I believe this to be true, but for all of us without engine management, (and this is confirmed by 2 extatic honda boy ricers), drain the battery/reset the ecu for gains. Timing resets and adjusts itself for fuel quality, timing may not retard as much and therefore gains. All in all, i'll use the petrol in which my car drives the best. At the moment its BP ultimate, i'll try extreme when I get my license back, but by then they'll either have 100 octane at all servos and/or all fuel will have a healthy content of ethanol with no side effects, or there will be an additive out to protect fuel lines and stuff or it will be off the market because it destroys cars... or we will be all driving electric cars. Nissan doesn't recommend the stuff, but it doesn't mean its bad, and what choice do we have regarding ethanol in fuel? are there any out there which don't contain it?
-
gadgets are mad - bragging rights and gizmo noises on entry 4 sure, however, the extreme stuff should be optioanl

i stand corrected on the mm of mercury, i got told what it was ages ago, guess i forgot, but yeh, my r32 shows 10psi on my aftermarket gauge, even though it is a cheap one.
-
the gauge is quoted in millimeters of heilium. This is a very old measurement which is pretty much obsolete. A stock HCR32 runs 10PSI of boost, this is what the actuator is set to, and what is displayed when you hook up an aftermarket boost gauge.

Fake Performance Products
SuAvE-1 replied to performance-wise's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think I see this sort of stuff popping up all over ebay, it seems too good to be true on some of the stuff like the G-tech meters. Look more into it, I will be interested to see the results. -
try eucalyptus oil, it might work, it got the stick residue off my boot lid from the old spoiler, it might just work for you, but yeah, long shot.... Method will dry you vinyl out and make it all white n shit

Custom R32 'skyline' Light-up Trick
SuAvE-1 replied to Johnny Cash's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Top Idea! even if it is a repeat. I might consider doing it one day, given enough time allowed. I think it would look excellent and if it was red, I don't think you'd have an issue with cops.
