  1. I know laws are different around australia, but in victoria, where I live, you get your P's at 18 (and how much the wait killed me when NSW could drive at 17). My point is, you are considered an adult when you are 18 (and in some courts, 17). You should be allowed all the rights and freedoms available experience as possible. If you commit a crimial offence and you are 18 years old, you are looked at just as badly as someone who is older. You are considered to be just as responsible, therefore, if the law acconts us this much responsibility, why believe we are not responsible enough to drive any vehicle we desire? Everyone on their P's passed their test at one stage or another, and should not be treated different simply because they are inexperienced. It comes down to the driver: if they are going to be stupid in a high performance vehicle, they are going to be stupid in a s***box. I'm not entriely clear what the objective or motivation for this law comes from, i believe it is to contribute to the overall effort of reducing death on our roads. Given this, there are many better laws that could be introduced. If everyone had to pass a mandatory advanced driver course, our roads could be a lot safer.
  2. a 180 is more of a sexier styled sports car, where the skyline is a grand tourer, slightly bigger, much nicer interior, more smoother/less twitchy (mates silvia is twitchy in all areas of design), there both good cars, you'll probly get better fuel consumption on the 180. It depends on what your needs are. A good skyline is a good 'all-rounder' while the 180 is a sports car and tries to be nothing else.
  3. 'the beast' or 'the line'.
  4. Its true. We are all human and would abuse even to a slight extent, any power we are given. This debate makes me think of the question when you are first questioned by police: Was there any reason for you committing (instert dodgy action here) offence? You could be pulled over for talkin on the phone when you could be a specialist doctor on the way to surgery (not speeding), telling a GP what to do until you got to where ever you were going and the cop could still fine you under the law even though, if it was a cop in the relative situation, it would be deemed reasonable for them to break the law. Cops are effectively above the law due to the previously mentioned exemption because (correct me if i'm wrong) no such exemption exists for civilians. Civilians can rely on the officer's personal discretion at deciding whether or not to book you, or the courts system where a judge will deem whether or not you should cop a fine, if it is not mandatory to recieve one.
  5. could be a photochop - something doesn't look right in those photos. I think the back end rubbing up against the wall doesn't have any real damage.
  6. preach it again my brother. Pentae, you are 100% on the money and I couldn't have said it any better myself. More studies such as this one are required for anyone in the government to listen. I've said it before, and i'll say it again - almost any piece of crap can speed dangerously (say 120km/h in a 50 zone) and almost any driver can drive dangerously whether it is overtaking someone on a hill or rippin a burnout in a narrow space. High powered vehicles generally have bigger brakes and more protection, and as pentae said, generally more respect for their cars.
  7. It just depends on how hard you want to work it. As said by previous members, you will get issues IF you are racing compared to a GTR. Depends on what you are doing with it. IMO, they are sexy, I had a series 4 before I got my GTS-t, it was unmodified and I drove it for a year without a single hitch. They can last quite a long time, even with constant crap, just don't port the hell out of the engine! A series 8 with a couple pounds more boost, mild street port and new cooler/computer will have you running very quick quarters while having rwd fun! hahaha. Rx's are less common too. Go the RX unless you want to have comfortable passengers in the rear, caus those seats are almost worthless.
  8. Well, its 4am in the morning and I can't believe I just went through these past 7 pages. O.C, good luck to you, but don't learn how to drive the hard way and crash a very expensive car, I don't care who u are, your parents would be pissed!!!! Also, I don't think it was entirely essential to state that your parents are buying you the car though, its a bit of a stirr to the rest of the people on the forums who worked hard for their cars.
  9. wwwwhoa, i jus read the six pages. Mindless banter. At least there are a few who are smart enough to know what a skyline actually is. They all seem to claim that an xr6t would smoke a gts-t. I reckon they'd be very close, if not dead even regardless of whether 32,33,34. I'm not sure of what a stock xr6t does, but i really doubt its 13.5. I mean, if I had a family and wanted to tow stuff and weighed 150kg I would seriously consider one, they seem like good cars, but some of the comments in that thread are just ridiculous :chairshot
  10. try the DIN sized units which have a little compartment for storage as well as for two drinks. never broke on me and held my cups pretty reliably. Only problem is, they don't fit the 600ml pet bottles by a fraction. Got mine at autobarn for $40 i think. Good luck with it.
  11. it is a well known fact that red adds 20rwkw. Candy apple red is rated the highest at 22kw. To tell you the truth, I don't know why I picked red, but I don't see why not hehehehe.
  12. it looks a bit like a new falcon ute, but i like alot! if i had 2 get a ute, i'd pick that 1.
  13. I had my series 4 rx-7 about two months ago on carsales and carpoint. No interest what so ever. Put it in the trading post, that night when it came out i sold it and got a few people interested in it afterwards. Its fairly expensive, but it worked for me.
  14. Got any pics? I'm about to do my skyline over in red, black and silver.
  15. It *might* not be as bad as you think Sydney residents. In Vic, we got a limit of 125 kw/tonne for all P plater drivers (and you can get special exemptions if you need) and this rule is hardly enforced. Cops only really pull over SS commodores with P plates up because they know its illegal, and they might fine them. All the skylines I know of get defected for illegal modifications and EPA's before they'd get done for having an over powered car. If you got a gts-t or GTR, jus rip off all turbo, GTR and intercooled badges and don't have a nice and shiny bov or intercooler showing. If you can, register the car as simple Nissan Skyline (no variant). OR, like someone creatively suggested before, get a Vtec integra - its legal and probly the closest thing in terms of performance to a skyline (less RWD/AWD). Good luck with it, i certainly hope they don't try the same BS in Vic. A hoon is a hoon whether in a commodore, corolla or a high-performance vehicle.
  16. I agree with rs73 - Sti looks like an evo at first glance while the other looks like an altezza. I think it looks pretty good at first glance, the look of cars is becoming more european and this is no exception.
  17. Doubt any other car would fit - i get my 32 day after tomorrow. I bought an air/fuel ratio and boost gauge (52mm each) to go in either side of the vents. I've bought some thick sponge cubes from clark rubber to support the gauges and i'm covering the gaps up with some vinyl to match the interior. Not sure how i'm going to hook up the wires and vaccum line yet, but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. Will post a tutorial in the tute section when its done.
  18. If it is a creaking sort of noise, it usually means you have air in your brake lines. If you have had your brakes changed recently, who ever installed them didn't bleed your brake lines properly. It could be something more, get it checked out - these are your brakes!
  19. i'm no expert, but my transmission guy reckons that there is some power-train loss with almost all automatic gearboxes. I've heard this is almost non-existent with auto 300zx's. 40% is a bit much, i hear its about 5-10% depending on the car. There might be one car out there with a 40% loss, but i doubt its a skyline. My previous car was a series 4 auto, it was noticeably slower than my friends manual series 4, although, the fact that my gear changes were very fast benefitted me a lot. Good luck with your conversion. I only hope it was done properly so u don't have to keep having your car in shop all the time!
  20. Hey Man, You still got that r32 HKB boss kit for $30? If so, I got the cash. What part number is it? I'm looking for ON-110. Thanks, Lior.
  21. It makes sense though. Most trucks can't even see behind themselves with side mirrors and a full load! I haven't got tinted windows, might do it one day, but i'd say for anyone to get done by the cops for having rear windows too dark, to contest it in a court and see what happens... And then tell us here so we can all get really dark tints on the back....
  22. Imo, the red and blue don't go well together. Generally, I like to see colour schemes where there is a lot of one colour (a universal one, like black) a prominent secondary colour of your choice (since black goes with almost everything), and then a third colour which would be considered a light accent in the car, and only appears in smaller areas such as vents. Any more than three colours is over board. If you replaced the blue with red and did a good job of it, i reckon it would look pretty hot.
  23. Hey all, My line is on its way, Jasmine Ace due for Melbourne on the sixth of June. Its a black r32 gts-t with the type-M body kit. Anyone else got their goods on this boat?
