  1. hello, My brother has an old gxe r30 or something skyline. His battery was dead so his neighbour connected a battry charger to the battery while still connected to the car, but the idiot crossed the terminals. There was a puff of smoke. Now my brother put a new battery in, cars starts but no electrics work (lights, tacho, etc). Im assuming that simply a fuse has blown (or more than one) since the car starts and runs ok, and was a result of the dipshit crossing the terminals? My brother has no mechanical knowledge/interest in cars and he lives 45 mins away from me so i dont have access to the car but might go over later if i can. Also if someone can link me to a service manual that would be great. Thanks, Will.
  2. :lol: I dont come on SAU too often, iv been on NS for over four years too, and am on there every day! I was close to getting an r32 for my first car but got a 180 instead. Then i was close to getting an r32 again for my second car, but got another 180 Uh oh, the true feelings are coming out! Let it all out jim jim.

  5. NS is back on now! Im thinking it was someone who was pissed off about NS expanding and becoming hardtuned, and having a section "GTR owners club (GTROC)." Maybe they thought it was trying to muscle in on SAU?

No Price: $2,600 neg! Comments / Modifications: Time to sell my 180 wreck..... I will NOT be seperating any parts so please do not ask. Here are some more details.... - 1989 CA18DET 180sx. - Gunmetal grey. - About 140,000km's on the clock. - 5spd manual. - Has a lukey muffler/cat back. - Pretty much stock car. Now as for the damage....car was hit on the front driver side. This caused the driver strut tower to be pushed in, and the wheel was pushed into the drivers footwell (refer to pics). The engine seems to be pushed over a cm or two. I havent had the engine running or anything after the accident, but after i was hit, the engine was still running (i had to turn it off). However, the throttle body got jammed open, and now the throttle body is stuck. I will take some better pics on sunday when i got to my dads place. This wreck would be ideal for an import wreckers or something like that, as im NOT going to be stripping any parts off it, so please dont ask, wreck is being sold complete! This 180 was extremley clean before the accident, never had one mechanical issue with it in the year i owned it, and it took me 7 months to find such a clean example! Any other questions, just ask. Located in SE suburbs of Melb. Not sure what price to put on it, but for the time im going to say $3,000 neg. NOW $2,600 neg Thanks, Will.

  17. Went and checked out this 93 r32 gtst today at a dealer which was for sale at 8k. I knew it would be in pretty shit condition and it was. Engine made a terrible knocking noise when it revved.
  18. ^^thats EXACTLY what i was thinking. If you put the same intrusion bars in earlier model r32's for compliance, then they should be the same weight as the later model ones which were released with them from the factory? The guy that hit me seems to be stringing us a long a little, so we are giving him this week, then we take him to court Its good having a mother whos does this shit on a regular basis too!
  19. Yeah i wanted to get another car, probably an RB to expand my knowledge and hands on experience, but im still attached to the CA 180 so much. I also noticed that all auto gtst's are under the power to weight ratio. So if i were to get an auto and convert to manual, it might technically be legal as they go by stock figures correct? Bah, i dont want to risk it with technicalities etc. Not having my 180 outside is killing me. It is literally all i can think about 24/7. Im constantly scanning NS, SAU, carsales, carpoint, firesport, ebay and tradingpost for my next car, even though i havent got my payout yet. Im becoming obsessive! It does kill me when i do see a nice car i would like to check out, but i dont have my money yet! For example there is a 93 gtst for a GREAT price from a dealer with rwc, rego etc i would love to check out, but i dont have my f*king payment yet. Might go down on monday and see if i even like the RB20. This whole car thing is taking its toll on my uni work...i havent done ANYTHING for uni, and i think there has already been 2 weeks of classes. I dont even have my books yet. If anyone sees a nice 1991+ gtst or CA 180 for sale let me know!
  20. Think the weight is around 1150, and power around 135kw, so its well under. The cops arent my concern, as i said insurance is. If need be (ie you get a fine, or insurance claim knocked back) it will be easily provable that because of the extra weight, the series 2 r32 gtst is under the power to weight ratio. EDIT- on another note, i was speaking to the guy at justcarinsurance today. I asked what they would do if they found out the car i was driving/making a claim on was high powered and illegal for me. He said that if it was an instance where i lost control of the car or something, then they wouldnt honour the claim, but if it was something where it would have happened in any normal car they would probably overlook it. Although he did stress that they take each case on its merits, and that that was just his personal knowledge, nothing concrete.
  21. As i mentioned, the legalities of the whole SR20DET 180sx with power to weight. Depending on which figures you use, you will come out just over or just under (by like 0.2kw each time), most of the time just over. The main thing im concerned about this isnt police attention/fines, but making my insurance voidable. I have an at fault claim and they knock it back because i was driving a car im not legally allowed to, then im completley f**ked. Have to pay for my car, and the other car, and i wont be seeing my insurance premium back either. The CA18 will do me fine. Now im finding there is the same ambiguity around 89 to 91 model r32 gtst's, so now i reckon ill be looking at a 91+ r32, or CA 180.
  22. Been doing some research on here and found that 1989 to august 1991 models are over the power t weight ratio, and august 1991 to august 1993 models are under as they weigh a little more? What do the later models come with which weigh the car down an extra 100kg or so? Look like ill probably be sticking with the good old CA18.
  23. hmmm im a bit hesitant to get one now. Stupid law, wish it was 127kw/tonne, that would make it ALOT better. Are there many p platers here with r32 gtst's?

  25. Shit, i always thought r32's were a little under? Hmmm im not after an SR20DET 180 due to the ambiguity of power to weight lagalities, i hope there wont be the same problem for the 32 By the way i go to deakin, burwood campus.
