  1. I was looking into this topic as well and I’ve fount that there's about 11 wires going between the two computers for the communication between them. The auto computer constantly monitors things like speed, rev & throttle among other things and based on the input it gets adjusts the gear. Also, at the same time it sends data back to the main computer when it intends to get into action so that the main computer can re-adjust its settings before the gear change takes place. So the auto computer doesn't just receive data and acts on it, it actually sends and receives data for proper operation. If the after market computer is not made to communicate to the auto computer it will not change the gears as it was meant to. So it comes to if you are willing to sacrifice the smooth ride over the performance and maybe less life out of the gearbox. Abo Bob – did you change anything else when you got your remap? Tune, timing?
  2. To the guys with aftermarket ECU's on Auto, the harsh gear changing you experience, is it any simillar to the quick shift in auto?
  3. I got 5 with carbon bits on them. I bought a set but on the end i just needed one. PM me if interested.
  4. ScottKing GTS-4 - Yes that was stock boost on Unigroup's DD dyno. If everything goes OK the FMIC is going in this weekend and i'll have the 100% mods as you. :headspin:
  5. Hi guys, I received a letter from customs yesterday and i spoke to them today. The guy i bought the stuff off ended up putting all the info in so I will have to pay the 15% duty and 10% GST plus some other fees and charges that comes up to $60. All up $250. I will be receiving the package tomorrow. It took less than 24 hours from HK to Syd and almost a week at the customs. So the whole Hybrid kit with the piping will cost me $1100 delivered. It's still ok considering some prices around here. Thanx everyone 4 the info.
  6. My Rb20 with RB25 turbo, pod and 3" turbo back exhaust did only 130 rwkw with stock boost and everything else and 11.3 A/F ratio.
  7. I had the same problem, stock boost and 0.8 mm gap. I ended up buying a set of second hand coilpacks for $100 and the problem has been fixed.
  8. OK, it still works out to be around the AUS $1060 mark depending on the exchange rate.
  9. Wow, thats an extra 25% on top. I didn't think it would be that much. So that works out to be $127.5 duty and $97.75 GST. Total of $1075.25 for the whole kit delivered. It's still not bad.
  10. My RB20 did 137 rwkw with turbo back exhaust, pod and R33 turbo on stock boost and everything else stock. A/F ratio was 13 and it had a slight misfire. After upgrading the fuel system it went down to 130 rwkw and a healthy 11.3 fuel ratio and no misfire. This was on DynoDynamics dyno in shootout mode at Unigroup.
  11. Thanx guys, I haven't received anything yet in the mail. I just know its in Sydney coz of the tracking. We'll c what happens.
  12. Hi, I thought we had a deal, can you let me know whats happening. Thanx.
  13. Hi guys, I bought a new Hybrid Intercooler Kit on eBay and its getting shipped to me from Hong Kong. I received the tracking number and I can see that it took less than a day from Hong Kong to Sydney. The current status is "Shipment is under clearance at customs". It’s been there for 2 days now. Does anyone have any experience with similar packages from overseas. I'm interested in how long does it usually take and if there are any fees you have to pay, ie. GST or something. If so, are there any ways to get out of paying the fees or to at least reduce them. The whole kit cost me $850 including delivery. Thanx
  14. Check yellow pages, most local EFI shops can do a good job. Make sure you ASK if they have the right O-rings for your car. The guy who cleaned mine tried to convince me that it was imposible to get the right fit for the jap spec RB engines and charged me for the ones that didn't fit. Than he made it all my fault coz i didn't ask him in the first place if he had the correct ones. WTF!!! If he can't suply the correct ones neg the price down and get them at Nissan for about $5 each. It cost me $200 for the cleaning and proper O rings. You can find it cheaper.
  15. i'm interested. might have 2 cars. both with old tints. more info needed.
  16. LOL -Joel- The fuse for fuel pump is in the fuse box under the steering wheel. Top row, sixth from the right lo left.
  17. I've done it a few weeks ago. Gimme a call. Ned.
  18. -Joel- i used the one for extra pleasure, it worked fine :69:
  19. i did this two weeks back on my RB20. i didn’t take anything off. all you need is a bit of patience. start the car, remove the fuel pump fuse. once the car stops running try cranking it a few more times to remove the fuel pressure in the lines remove the blow-by hose from rocket cover to the plenum, remove the fuel lines from the rail, unplug the injectors, unscrew the two bolts holding the rail and then slowly pull the whole rail with injectors out and slide it towards the front of the car. as ed g said, don't loose the little metal clips. when putting them back in, go the same way, just reverse. i was advised to put some vaseline on the little O-rings when putting the injectors back in so they don’t get damaged. i ended up using some good old water based lubricant. :bahaha: don't use any oil based stuff as it will swell up. put the fuse back in and turn the key. wait for the fuel line to be pressurised and the check for any leaks. start the car and check again.
  20. Interesting point. What about the pre 1st of August 1994 vehicles? Check the RTA website: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow.../vsi03_rev3.pdf So the point is, the darker tints would be legal if it was put on before 01/08/94. So how can the check when the tint was put on? I'm talking here about the pre 94 vehicles, ie. R32. My skyline was a personal import by the previous owner. He had it for 3 years in Japan before bringing it here. The tints on it is at least 95% dark. So far i haven't had any problems, apart driving at night time with windows up. :looney:
  21. B. 1, 52 mm. Bought a universal fit from eBay and didn't fit. pffft Where can you get one to fit R32.
  22. Actual power gains? Does it take longer to come on boost?
