Diff - Opinion Needed...
EvilINGT replied to makaveli's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Does anyone know what kind of GTR diff centre would suit a SII R33 Sedan 5 speed? Im thinking of replacing/rebuilding the diff and putting in the GTR diff centre, as it sounds like a good compromise between vlsd and mechanical. Maybe i will wait a while and see what Cubes results are like . cheers Evil -
My turbo timers built into the alarm (autowatch) so i can remotely turn it off. I rarely use the turbo timer though, switching off at the same time as the car. Its good as there are no controls for anyone to touch or wiring to follow directly. Not too sure how good autowatch are though. Its set a minimum of 90 secs, but probably only let it run that much after ive done long drives. cheers Evil

Hi everyone Im thinking about getting some alloy pedals for my ride. My question is are there genuine alloy pedals for R33 GTS25t skylines? Or are there better after market brands. Id prefer NISMO as im using some other NISMO bits in my interior. I know nissan have alloy pedals as standard in many of their other cars ie x-trail, 350z, GTRs. So would it be possible to use one of the other nissans genuine pedals, as i dont want the kind that go over the top of your existing pedal and attach using brackets and glue, which would make the pedal position more forward? If anyone has some alloy pedals that they have used please feel free to comment. The guys at Kudos Motorsport have been great in trying to source a set of pedals for me. below are some pictures of a couple of Nissan pedals they say they can source but might not actually fit. I also realise that alloy pedals wont make the car faster, but the car is just for cruising as i live in Broome, and we only have 95 Ron premium up here, so i have to buy heaps of octane boost . cheers Evil

Hi Randy Yes you can control fade and balance from your head unit. If you have front & rear RCA outputs from your head unit, and the amp is four channel. My Alpine 9815 headunit also has RCA 5volt preouts for subwoofers, so the level of my subs can be controlled from the head unit. Hope that helps cheers Evil

Hi Guys Just wandering if anyone new where to get bodykits to suit a SII R33 Sedan? I know carmate and UAS have side skirts and spoilers, and that any SII Front bumper will fit, but what im really after is a nice rear bar, and i cant find any apart from GTR style rear pods . There seems to be kits for allmost everything except skyline sedans. Any help would be appreciated cheers Evil

Ive got an Alpine 9815, which is awesome, heaps of good options, mp3,wma, 2 x 4v pre-out, sub woofer control, time alignment, eq, active crossovers, i was thinking of maybe getting one of the JVC DVD players as I use mp3s a lot as i dont like to get original discs scratched, and you can have many albums on one disc. 700mb of music compared to 4.5Gb or 8.5Gb on a daul layer dvd, trips to perth with one DVD . Is it SII or SI, come with indicators or not? cheers Evil -
Alpine 6.5" Type R' fit perfectly fine in the back, but i have a SII R33 Sedan, was told the same would fit in the front, not sure how accurate that is though. The standard speakers were some Clarion 6.5". Hope that helps

Got an Alpine 9815, and was told it was better than the newer Alpine 9835, not sure why though. Has many great features like time alignment, 5 Band EQ, Active X-Over, 3 x 4v pre-out. Also has the remote, plus it can control the face of the unit and make it go up and down, for those whol like that sort of thing . Got it for $699 before the 9835 came out..

You could allways get one of the custom boxes from dicksmith/jaycar, and ditch the dvd drive making it smaller and adding better anti-vibration materials. Ive thought about doing this and adding a laptop harddrive in place of the standard one, to reduce heat and better survive knocks. It would take a bit more work but the result would be better worth it as it could be customised to suit a neat stereo install ie painted to match amps or something like that. Ice

R33 SII Sedans have the variable antenna switch, im allmost positive that its the same as found in a 97 Nissan Patrol. Very likeyl you could get the parts direct from nissan. Hope that helps. Ice

I get these guys in commodores revving it up when they go past me, hahaha, stupid auto statesmans, oh and this other dude who has a bodykitted honda accord does the same thing, it sounds like a mosquito with a microphone hahahaha. And once this camry pulled up next to me in car park and wanted a drag, and i just ignored him, then he proceeded to do the worst burnout ive ever seen, i was LMAO. Ice -
Got Alpine SPR-174A 2 Way 6.5" Coaxials for rears in my SII R33 Sedan, fit perfectly with no mods except to remove the child restrainsts, as they wouldnt sit over the speaker because of the tweeters. I was told that fronts would take an Alpine R series 6" split, not sure how reliable that info is though.
-
Ok sorry, maybe my question wasnt too clear, i was looking for the general idea of what will fit under the standard sedan guards and if i would have the ability to use the same sizes as those on the coupes, or if anyone had experience with large wheels on a sedan. I read a post where someone has the same car as mine with some suspension mods, and has R33 GTR wheels, which scrub at full lock. All my suspension and braking components are standard, so basically what can fit under there without flaring the guards/changing suspension, and wouldnt rub the tryres. cheers Ice

Thanks for the info Well im going to assume that the coupe and sedan wheel sizes are the same, what size tyres are generally recommended for 8in wide wheels on a skyline? BTW what are cheap tyres that would fit 17x8s or 18x8s as i live in broome and the roads are crap, just chew new sets of tyres on gravel roads . cheers Ice
-
Hi just did a quick search and couldnt find this info. Are wheel sizes/offsets the same for coupes and sedans? What is the largest wheel/tyre combo that could fit under the guards without needing to to be pumped/flared? Im looking at getting some 18x8s, or is it better to just get some 17x8s and spend the savings on something else? Is it better to run 7.5in wide tyres up front and 8in wide tyres out back? or have the same width all round? Any help would be appreciated cheers Ice

Best replacent panle filter for stock air box?
EvilINGT replied to EvilINGT's topic in General Maintenance
Hmmm thats an important consideration about dust and the OEM filter. I found this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ight=pipercross Sydneykid seems to recomend the pipercross filters and they come for $60, thinks they are better than the K&N, i havent seen him be wrong about anything, and he doesnt normally state anything without good reason. Anyone else had experience with these filters? Apparently oild filters are ok in WA, not sure how reliable the info is though. thanks for the help Evil BTW since this original post. I have had a HKS panel filter - Wouldnt really recomend it, not great filtration, and i now use the pipercross filter, much better design 3 different foam elements, plus comes with an oil/pressurised can of spray (not 100% sure what it does, i assume its an oil) which i apply after washing the filter every 2000kms. -
Best replacent panle filter for stock air box?
EvilINGT replied to EvilINGT's topic in General Maintenance
Hahaha, benm i just say $150 cos i went into Autopro and they had to check prices, then rang me up at 8.30 in the morning (i work 10pm until 3am), and they have to get it up to broome, but maybe he was talking about a dodgy pod filter? Once again thanks for the info/opinions. I love SAU for stuff like this . cheers Ice -
Sorry, another iPOD question. (Yes I've searched!) ;)
EvilINGT replied to Scotty's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Too bad your alpine is gone, as alpine now make a ainet connector/cable to hook ipods up to Alpine gear. Evil -

Cheers guys Some good info to think about. Probably go the K&N then. Yeah 3LITE FORS3, nice and hot, probably between 30-34 right now, must be about same where you are are. Only 2 Skylines here and the others a black SI Coupe with a bit of work done, but scrapes on everything as our roads are crap. Ive actually had to wind the boost down to stock now, need to put octane boost in as no one here sells BP Ultimate just normal premium 95 RON . Ice
