  1. I hope you dont mind Johno, but i emailed Hybrid Performance and enquired about the delivery status of the balancers, as i need mine asap and didnt want to keep pestering you. This is their reply i recieved today: "Hi, As stated in the previous email to J'Z-R33, the Skyline parts are not readily available here in the states as we do not have these vehicles. These will take time for them to make it. We should be receiving them today and as soon as they show up we will be shipping them out. ATI sent the dampers out to us, but you have to realize that it takes about 3-4 days from them to us. Best Regards, Eric Siu Hybrid Performance LLC/Design Auto Studio LLC www.hybrid-performance.com www.designautostudio.com" So i suppose it'll take another week then (at least). Shaun.
  2. Jeeesus, this is a hot topic! Dont flood me with answers. Nah, seriously, i suppose it was a stupid question anyway. Ill just put it before the top radiator hose. Shaun.
  3. Hi, Im installing a water temp gauge on my rb26, and im after peoples opinions on where the best place to put the temp sensor would be. Its a Greddy gauge, but im not interested in using the fitting that goes in the radiator hoses; ive made up a weld on using a BSP (pipe) thread. So my choices are: - The aftermarket alloy radiator itself (on one of the tanks) - The engine side of the top radiator hose (the aluminium engine outlet) - The thermostat housing Im almost certain that hot water exits the engine via the top radiator hose, so im assuming this is the best place for a water temp reading. Im just interested to hear other peoples opinions. PS Where is the standard water temp sensor located??? Shaun.
  4. I didnt cut the exhaust sensor, i just shoved it up under the head shroud. Ive never had a problem with it and never had a light on the dash come on. Shaun.
  5. Johno, are you able to contact ATI to see whats going on? Shaun.
  6. ^^^^^ I hope they've left the states. Ill have to cancel my tune unfortunately. From what i can tell, ATI arent overly reliable in replying to emails etc, so maybe its to same with postage. I sincerly hope not though. Thanks for your efforts anyway Johno. Keep us informed. Shaun.
  7. I know the torque of the bolt has nothing to do with the torque my car produces; i was just trying to put it in perspective. Shaun.
  8. I was told (and it makes sense to me) that cylinder 6 fails commonly due to the simple fact that its the furtherest away from the water pump and radiator, thus running hotter. Also, on a stock setup, number 6 injector is the last to be fed with fuel from the front of the rail. Doesnt help your problem, but just added input. Mine went bang on 6 too. Its a bitch of a thing. Shaun.
  9. Yeah, the banjo bolt does not need to line up with anything, just install it. It sounds like you have an air pocket in the coolant system. Did you bleed the system via the 10mm bolt in the plenum? Its the highest point in the coolant system, so the air will escape here when bled properly. This is an important process as differential heating of the head can lead to cracking or warping of the head.
  10. Hi, Im after an R32 external air temp sensor so that my climate control will stop constantly blowing hot air. The sensor sits in front of the air conditioning condensor and thermo fan. It sits on a bracket, possibly on the bonnet latch support. Let me know if you have one. I cant see why the gtr item wioul be different to my gtst one. Thanks heaps, Shaun 0414972596
  11. Hi, Im after an R32 gtst external air temp sensor so that my climate control will stop constantly blowing hot air. The sensor sits in front of the air conditioning condensor and thermo fan. It sits on a bracket, possibly on the bonnet latch support. For those of you with unused front cuts etc, you could really help me out. Thanks heaps, Shaun 0414972596

  13. I just had a look, and i definately dont have one of those sensors at the front of my car. From memory, i think the sensor may have been on the bonnet latch support, but its been a long time. I not only have a front mount, but ive put twin thermos in front of the radiator, removed all air conditioning components, and have an aftermarket bonnet and latch support, so its been lost during those mods. Does anyone have a pic of an r32 gtst external air temp sensor in the factory spot? Also, if anyone has a spare sensor, im happy to buy it off you. Ill have to find one from somewhere, as i cant hack the hot air blowing all the time. Thanks again, Shaun.
  14. Thanks guys, ill have a look to see if i still have one. Shaun.
  15. ^^^^Yeah, thats important to remember. There is no point in comparing a car with a single highmount to a car with smaller twins (or single), as the turbine housing size makes a massive difference to sound. I remember when i changed from a 0.82 ar to a 1.06 ar and, with everything left the same, the exhaust note from the 1.06 was significantly louder. Shaun
  16. Hi, Ive got an R32 gtst, and my climate control is ALWAYS blowing hot air. Ive removed all the air conditioning components during an engine conversion, so im just after a fix so that the climate control will blow ambient air. Its also worth mentioning that my ambient temp displays -30 degrees. Im just about to go through the diagnostic test (found in the tutorial section by TO4GTR), and im almost certain that the sensor at the front of the car is to blame. My question is: Where is the sensor at the front located? Ive done alot of work at the front of the car, and there are several plugs disconnected, so i dont know what im looking for. Pictures would be a massive help if anyone could take the time. Im sure the sensor in the stereo surround is ok. Where are the other two sensors located? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Shaun.
  17. Ok, thanks Cubes. Thats exactly what i wanted to know. Yeah, when i think about it logically, there's very little load on the cam belt. Feel like an idiot now, but it kinda looks like a rubber band, and thats what it felt like! Shaun.
  18. So, when i go to do the bolt up again, am i right in thinking that i should use my 1 meter long handle and just put as much force on the thing as possible. When i say that, i mean put my entire body weight, swing off the bar type of force? Im just trying to figure out how much torque up to 500Nm is. I mean, is it possible to snap gears in the gearbox, or break a timing belt, or strip the thread on the bolt or crankshaft??? Makes me shudder thinking about it. What do you guys reckon? Shaun.
  19. Im freaking out about all these stories of balancers coming off now! I got mine off fairly easily the other day. I tried cranking the engine with a 300mm bar resting on the radiator mount, but that didnt work. So then i fit my trolley jack handle over the breaker bar (making a 1 meter long handle), put the car in fourth with the brake on and really leant on it. It came off ok, but i could feel the stretch in the timing belt (i think thats what it was anyway). Just waiting for my ATI balancer to arrive now. I think ill definately use a bit of loctite in the thread. Maybe the blue semi permanent stuff, rather than the red permanent. Is there any point in replacing the bolt and washer if the original is undamaged? Theyre only $8.50 from Nissan, but i was wondering if the older (work hardened and stretched) bolt would actually be better than a new one that might stretch or move and maybe loosen as a result. Maybe im becoming over paranoid now. Shaun.
  20. Jeeeesus. If you sit on the Db limit at idle, thats pretty loud. The Db limit is supposed to be at 75% of peak power rpm; so 5500 rpm or something like that. Shaun.
  21. Hi John, Did you get my PM regarding shipping? Shaun.
  22. I saw H beam rods on an American Ebay store for about $300 us dollars. Brand new, with bolts and listed for the RB26. I was spewing i prepped my standard ones because that cost me more than these forged items. Might be worth checking it out. It was a dedicated crankshaft store or something like that. Shaun.
  23. Part number for Rb26 harmonic balancer bolt (The 30mm crank Bolt). Theyre the same for 32 and 33. Shaun.
  24. I know exactly what you mean. Every time i go to Gosford Nissan for a part, they ask me for a fcuking VIN number! As soon as they hear you say 'Skyline' their care factor goes to zero. I actually quite enjoy pissing them off when asking for obscure parts. Hornsby Nissan, however, are awesome. They'll do anything for you. Shaun.
  25. I was thinking of going into Nissan and asking them if theyve got any info in this issue. By the way, the new bolts from Nissan are $8.50! Shaun.
