  1. Hey, Did racepace make the centre muffler for you? Ive got the excact same problem as you (ie, not wanting to attract attention with a loud exhaust), but im having trouble finding room underneath the car for a large (offset) centre muffler (R32 gtst). Im surprised that your centre muffler is not offset in design, as the change in direction within the barrel apparently has a large effect on noise. Most people ive spoken to say that the straight through perforated tube oval centre muffler has little effect on noise compared to an offset muffler. Anyway, im waiting for x-force to bring out their 3.5 inch 'Varex' rear muffler, which is oval in shape and has an electronically controlled butterfly that redirects gasses within the muffler to reduce noise when needed. Its not ideal, but its an expensive process when you experiment with different exhaust designs, as you know. Shaun.
  2. I was hoping to get mine a bit earlier. How much for the Australian delivered ones? Shaun.
  3. Any news on these harmonic balancers? Need prices including delivery. Im waiting to order one from the States. Shaun.
  4. The only difference between the different models is the offset of the accessory pulleys on the balancer. The R33 p/s pulley is apparently further out. Ive got the same setup as you, and im just going to replace it with the R33 balancer, as it works ok now. Shaun.
  5. Yeah, www.horsepowerparts.com quoted me US$430 for the balancer + US$69 postage via USPS. Delivered in 6 to 10 days. Thats about $518 Australian delivered. Id be interested in a 918598 (R33 up to 500hp) if you can beat the above price. Actually, maybe the bigger one would be better; how much is 360rwkw at the engine??? Shaun.
  6. Hey, where did you get that from? What model car is it for? R32? If you dont mind me asking, how much was it? Pm me if you like. Im going to purchase one soon, but im not sure whether to get a ross or ati. Im soooo bad at making decisions. thanks, Shaun.
  7. Great, Thanks. Ill email him then. Shaun.
  8. Hey, im having trouble figuring out the cost of postage for an ati balancer to Australia on this website. I cant see anything on the site that lets you get a quote for postage. Can anyone let me know how its done? $US430 is pretty good (depending on postage), especially with the dollar they way it is atm. Shaun.
  9. Yeah, i hear what youre saying. I just did 10 minutes of searching on this forum and quickly discovered that dry sump set ups are way out of my league. There goes that idea! Shaun.
  10. I spoke to a bloke at Ross Tuffbond today in regards to one of their balancers. I think for many of our applications (mostly street driven sub 400kw cars), the Ross balancers are more than suitable. While the ATI ones seem like an excellent product, theyre also very expensive at over $800 in Australia. Although i have come across new ati balancers on ebay for about US$350 + $100 postage, but these were for chevy V8's etc. Im yet to get an email back from them as to whether they can get RB26 ones for the same price. Anyway, the guy from Ross said they've developed a pulley that attaches to the harmonic balancer that drives an external oil pump used in a dry sump set up. Im thinking of heading down this path eventually in an effort to bypass the poor design of the Nissan oil pump drive. I havent researched it yet, but surely it can be done for less than the price of a Jun or Tomie oil pump (>$1500!!). Anyone know anything about dry sump set ups??? Shaun.
  11. Hi, Do you still have the harmonic balancer? If so, im interested. I assume it will fit on an r33 gtr crank. How used is it? Shaun.
  12. Here's mine. 26 in a 32gtst.
  13. Would you sell the 0.82 turbine housing seperately? If so, how much? Shaun.
  14. Ideally 3.5 inch turbo back. Thats if youve got the space. I had to use a 3 inch dump, then go a 3.5 inch from the front pipe due to space restrictions in the engine bay between ABS and engine. Still made an easy 350rwkw (RB26) though. Shaun.
  15. Thanks Deren, So what you are saying is that there are bleeding nipples on the ABS unit like those on the calipers? (I cant check, as im at work at present). If so, do i bleed the one cloest to the front of the car, then the rear most one? Thanks again, Shaun
  16. Hi, I recently bought some braided brake lines from Brakewest, and i am going to fit them this weekend. I was just wondering if the process of bleeding the brakes is any different because i have ABS. Ive only had experience in bleeding non ABS equipped cars. The car is a 1993 R32 gtst if it makes any difference. If anyone can tell me the process involved, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Shaun.

  18. Yeah, i received the incorrect ones, but it was no ones fault. Ive got a 93 r32 gtst M spec which should use the gtr ones pictured above, but it uses normal r32 ones which do not have the 'V' shape for the front lines. Ring Goran at Brakewest if you have any further problems. His customer service is excellent. Shaun.
  19. I was talking to X Force about their rear muffler that has a butterfly integrated in the design, and its electronically controlled. When closed, it directs gasses through baffling in the muffler (quiet), and when open, its a straight through design. Their 3.5 inch oval muffler is being developed now and should be ready in 2 - 3 months. Idealy, id like an exhaust that flows the power and is quiet (the holy grail), but alternatively this option might be ok.
  20. ^^^^^^Yeah this is my problem. Its easy to make it quiet, but i dont want to kill my power in the process. There seems to be plenty of options, however, so ive just gotta find someone with experience in this area to make me a custom exhaust. Thanks for your replys, ill keep you posted. Paul, ill give you a ring and get the Thornton shops number. Shaun.
  21. Thanks mate, I couldnt get onto SMB, but rang Hi-Tech today and they said they could help me out. Ill keep researching..............
  22. Hey, how do i get to those pics? The gallery just shows Thailand pics. Any idea on the construction (internally) of your mufflers? Thanks, Shaun.
  23. Hey, thanks heaps for all your replys. Im not fussed about keeping the rear cannon. In fact, id rather go for an oval or more standard looking rear muffler as many of you have suggested. GeeTR, im having a bit of trouble finding both Hi-Tech and SMB in Sydney. Do you know what suburb they are in? I was expecting to have both a centre oval and rear muffler made up, but from what some of you have said, maybe i can get away with just the rear muffler being replaced?? Anymore hints as to which work shops can do this for me without experimenting. I need tried and proven methods, as coin is a bit of an issue!! Ill keep trying the above workshops in Sydney. Thanks, Shaun.
  24. Hi, Ive recently finnished my 'rb26 into r32gtst' project, but im having troubles with an exhaust that is too loud. The car has got about 350rwkw on low boost setting, and ive currently got a Trust TR Drag 3.5 inch exhaust on it. This exhaust consists of a 3.5 inch metal cat, a hot dog, and then a cannon type muffler with perforated tube straight through it. Its over 100db at 5000rpm and thats WITH the silencer in it. It also drones like a bitch in the cabin. Ive spoken to a few people in the know, and they ALL say that i wont get an 'off the shelf' exhaust that wont restrict the cars power. I dont want to spend 20 grand getting 350kw and then restrict it with an exhaust, so it seems ive got to go the custom route. Apparently the best way to go is an oval centre muffler that is glass fibre packed, and uses (3.5 inch) perforated tubing that enters the muffler, then makes a 'U' shape before exiting the muffler. Im not sure about the rear muffler though. I imagine it would use perforated tubing with glass fibre but without the bend in it. Anyway, my problem is that i can only fit a centre muffler that is 12 inches in length under the car while still maintaining suitable ground clearance. There is no way that a 3.5 inch (or 3 inch for that matter) pipe can make a mandrel bend to sufficiently muffle sound in 12 inches. Surely there are people out there who have tackled this problem before. Im after a free flowing exhaust that is legal (or as close to), and doesnt attract attention. If anyone with experience in creating such an exhaust can help me (or knows someone who can), it would be much appreciated. Ive found a few people in the Melbourne area, but i think it would be difficult to make a custom exhaust, as i am near Sydney. Thanks heaps, and sorry for the long post. Shaun.
  25. Thanks mate; thats nice of you to say. I spent a lot of time on the install. I agree with the other guys that said the oil will drain back and create an airlock in the system after i turn the engine off, but i couldnt see any way around it. There wasnt room for the fittings at the top, and i wanted to drain dirty oil out anyway. When i turn the key, i get 3kg/cm3 immediately, and then full oil pressure about half a second later. Its a bit of a trade off i think. Shaun.
