  1. Hi, I need a 4 inch to 3 inch reducer of some sort. It has to come from my turbo (4in bell mouth), to 3 inch piping that goes to my stock air box. Thanks, Shaun 0414972596
  2. yep, I did the same conversion on an Rb26 with the same turbo. I just drove the car for the first time with the 1.06 turbine housing and its heaps louder. Actually, i dunno if i can live with it with the trust 3.5 inch exhaust. I also found that the turbo performs like a light switch; its nothing, nothing, nothing, then wheel spin. I love that banshee wastegate scream though! Shaun.
  3. Still interested in a price for the water temp only. Shaun. 0414972596
  4. Hey Anthony, What do you mean a Greddy item? Do you mean one of those clear cam covers? If so, ive got one. Shaun
  5. Thanks mate, cant wait to take it for a spin in the dry. Yeah, i spent some time polishing; once you polish one thing, you've gotta polish the next! Im just disappointed that i didnt paint the engine bay during the build. I can always do it later though. Shaun.
  6. Sounds good. I had a gt30 (with 0.82) on the rb20 engine and it was great. Boost didnt come til about 4200 on the rb20, so it should be nice with the extra capacity. Good luck with it. Some more pics:
  7. Roy, I havent driven it in the dry yet, ill update you when i do. Im using 17in Enkei Tarmac Evo's with 255 rears. I was wondering about the diff ratio, as ive still got the standard R32 diff in it atm. It just felt a bit wierd to drive, i find it difficult to explain; like it was revving higher than it should have been for the speed i was doing. Having said that, it could have been my speedo that was slightly out due to the sender modification. Do you think it would benefit from the r33 diff (i dont know much about the different diffs and their ratios). Its got whiteline springs and standard everything else at the moment. Ive got Sydneykids bilsteins and sway bars to go in it yet. Ive removed the hicas, but as for rear end alignment, im not sure; nothing too radical, as it for street use. When it spun the wheels (at whatever speed), it didnt kick out at all, it just stayed straight which was good. Nismoid, Yeah, ive had some dramas and bad luck, so its good to finally make some progress. I agree with you. I originally had the 0.82 rear on the turbo, as i thought that this would be a really streetable (for a single) package. After my last engine failure, i was advised by those who have more experience than me to change to the 1.06ar, as boost was too early with my higher compression ratio. I must admit, i was hoping the boost threshold would have been lower, but this is something i can play around with later. Actually, i dont even know if they played with the cam gears this time. They might be waiting til i bring it back. There's no denying that twins are an excellent way to go, and if i knew what i know now, maybe i would have gone the gtss or 2530 route, but ive always wanted a single and external gate. Its done now and im happy for it. R33 cruiser, I dont even know how much its cost me as i dont add it up. It riuns the enjoyment! But like all of us, i wonder why i bother sometimes. Im suprised im still enthusiastic about it after 4 years. Ive done all the mechanical install and fabrication work, so that saves a lot of money. I actually dont think you can put a price on the skills you develop when performing major mods yourself. But if i had to guess, i reckon about 50 grand including bringing the car over from Japan. That includes all the mods to the rb20 before it tho. Shaun.
  8. Hey Kane, Im just interested in the water temp gauge. Would you seperate it? How much? Also, does it come with everything needed for install including the sender? Is it the electrical type with the control box? Thanks mate, Shaun.
  9. Thanks mate, I dont think i can use aftermarket cams in the current head because, due to a previous engine failure, the head had to be machined significantly (tunnel bored on camshaft bearing surfaces). This means that larger cams would reduce the valve to piston clearance too much. Anyway, thats what the head machinist said. Ill be looking around for a cheap second hand head and do it up while this one is still in the car. Shaun.
  10. Gday, Just got my car tuned after being off the road for about 3 years. Ive put an RB26 engine (and an R33 gearbox) in an R32 gtst. The tune is a preliminary one, so ive gotta run the car in and go back in about 1500kms so they can turn the boost up. The car made 345 rear wheel kilowats on 17 psi and 98 octane. There should be more to come, but after driving it home from Silverwater in the wet, im not sure more power is a good idea in a rear wheel drive application! As soon as it gets to atmospheric, it spins the tyres in the wet; even at 100km/hr on the freeway. Pretty scary, as ive been driving a 100kw carolla for the last 3 years! Anyway, have a look at the dyno sheet. Im just happy to have it on the road. The specs are as follows: R33 RB26 (prepped block etc, compression is 9.0:1) ARP studs and bolts throughout General head reconditioning but no porting or polishing Standard cams HKS cam gears CP Pistons 20 thou over Prepped standard rods N1 oil pump Tomei sump baffle and head oil restrictor R33 gtst 5 speed Jim Berry modified Nismo 5 puck clutch Autronic SM4 computer Autronic boost control Garrett GT35r turbo with 1.06 turbine housing HPC coated Tial 44mm external wastegate with 17psi spring Tial 50mm BOV 600x300x100mm intercooler Earls 16 row oil cooler Stainless manifold bought from GCG. Modified with extra support brackets and HPC'd 3.5inch dump, HPC'd and wrapped 3.5 inch Trust exhaust Walbro in tank pump (255l/hr i think) Surge tank with Bosch 044 in line (i also used the HICAS lines as fuel lines) Sard 700cc injectors Edelbrock fuel reg and modified standard fuel rail Ford falcon twin thermo fans with 50mm alloy radiator. I think thats it. Just gotta get it engineered and registered now. Shaun PS Im really happy with Dave and Jim at Silverwater Automotive; theyre very good at what they do and looked after me well.

  12. Hi, im just about the finnish my R32 gtst with single turboed gtr engine in it, and im after some insurance (in NSW). Wasnt there an insurance thread as a sticky on here somewhere? Did it get removed for some reason? I was just hoping for a place to start ringing around and getting quotes. Thanks, Shaun
  13. Figured out what my problem was. The computer wasnt getting a speed signal from behind the dash; the sensor behind there must have failed or something. My tuner just ran a wire from the speedo cluster to my Autronic SM4 and now my autronic controls my power steering. When in doing low speeds (ie, parking) the steering is light, and when im going fast the steering is heavier and provides more feel. Shaun.
  14. I vote justin too. He tuned my microtech lx12 with rb26. But then i saw the light and bought an Autronic. I didnt like the microtech with the multiple throttles at all. Honestly, just get a power FC. Shaun.
  15. If your in NSW you definately have to get an engineers certificate because the capacity increase lies outside an 'owner certified' modification. It cant be any more than 15 or 20% (i cant remember exactly) capacity increase. The rb25det did not come out in the r32, it was the rb25de engine. Make sure you get it engineered before you install an aftermarket ecu, or you'll be up for an emissions test too, and thats f**ked. Im just going through this process with a single turboed rb26 in an r32 with Autronic ecu, and my car has been out of rego for 4 years! Talk about a nightmare! Shaun.
  16. The steering wheel boss certainly does have something to do with the loss of power steering. The hicas computer needs to know the angle of the front wheels, and gets this info from a sensor within the steering wheel boss. I did it a long time ago, but from memory, you need to get a specialised HICAS boss kit to suit the skyline. If the computer doesnt get the info, it will go into default mode after about 5 mins of driving and you'll lose power steering. You'll also lose it if the steering wheel isnt on straight. The same thing will happen if your speedo doesnt work, as the hicas computer also needs a speed input from behind the dash. Shaun.
  17. f**k, thats an awesome idea! Wish i thought of that. To answer your question, my covers are polished (took about 100 hours). I just dont like the idea of the weld on fittings, as they stick up too far with the 90 degree fittings. But its not my car is it; good luck. Shaun.
  18. I picked up my r32 radiator from the supplier a few days ago. Looks good for the price. Thanks fatz for organising this. Shaun.
  19. Cool, thanks for that. I wonder what the other one is then. Ive got ABS, so maybe its got something to do with that. Shaun.
  20. What do you mean by "and underfilled"? Anyway, i bought another litre and filled it up to capacity. It took about 3.65 litres. Shaun.
  21. Hi, When looking under the parcel shelf of an R32 gtst, there are two computer box thingys. Which one is the hicas computer? The left or right one when standing at the back of the car facing towards the front. Is it possible for the hicas computer to fail or something? As soon as i turn the car on the hicas light comes on, which i think is normal after removing all the hicas equipment and fitting a lock bar, but i lose my power steering after 5 mins of driving. Shaun.
  22. I started my car today and noticed that the speedo needle was jumping slightly at about 20km/hr (thats as fast as i could go while the car was on stands). Im a bit dissappointed about this as i think it might suggest that the gear might be under unwanted force or something. What do you guys reckon? There arent any sharp bends in the speedo cable either, which would also make the needle jump. Shaun
  23. I think he meant a new 'Boss'; if he's gonna charge you full price!
  24. Thanks for your replies. So do you reckon i should get another litre of oil? Ive got 3.2 litres in it at the moment. When i put my finger in the filler hole in the side of the gearbox, i can feel that the oil is just below the filler hole (maybe 2 or 3 mm below). I suspect i should do it properly. By the way, is Redline oil tha shizzle? How much is it? Shaun.
