GDay, Im pretty interested in getting my turbine housing, high mount manifold and dump pipe ceramic coated in the interest of keeping heat down in the engine bay. Ive spoken to HPC in Melbourne and Cometition Coatings in Sydney, and HPC seem to be much more expensive than the others but appear to know their pruduct much better. I was just wondering if anyone out there has has experience with these coatings and could point me in the right direction. Im leaning towards HPC (more than $400 for a manifold in hypercoat extreme), but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Shaun.

Im using Ford EF Falcon twin thermos in their factory shroud. Because there wasnt enough room between the engine and radiator due to the power steering pump, ive mounted them in front of the radiator and reversed the direction of fan rotation so that they push air through the radiator. After a bit of trimming of the plastic shroud (and mounting them upside down), they fit like factory! Also, you cant see them because ive got one of those air deflector plate thingys. I can also stagger the temps at which the two fans come on so that idle doesnt suffer as it would if the fans started at the same time. Only cost me a hundred bucks too. I dont reckon you can beat factory fans. You need to get some with significant rake of the blades so that they push heaps of air. The aftermarket ones ive seen just have flat blades almost. Anyway, just an option for those without air conditioning! Shaun.

Aero Mirrors M3 Led Indicator, R32 Fit
Shaun replied to richzx's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Sold to me!!! Thanks Rich. -
Fcuk man, im with Greg^^^^^^^A loan for these two cars is crazy!! Take the GTR badges off too! It will never be a GTR; i'd be soooo uneasy driving around with that number plate too. Why do you want to make it into a GTR? Find a bit of individuality and develop a car thats customised to your taste and needs. Ive got a GTR engine in my GTST but id never want to make people think its a genuine GTR.

Fuel Air Vapor Charcoal Canister Thingy?
Shaun replied to muaythailuke's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Why dont you just relocate it under the guard or something? You can also get much much smaller charcoal cannisters off other imports. I just spotted one while wandering around Jusy Jap; it looked exactly the same as my R32 one but about a third the size. Easy fix. -
Arent we all enthusiasts? Im stoked to see someone really happy with their dyno results after theyve spent thousands of dollars building a car. Singles or twins; i dont care, I just like skylines (if they dont have chromies!).

Whats The Diff Between R33 Gtr & N1 Oil Pumps?
Shaun replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for that Geoff, ill take a look at doing that. By the way, the HICAS lock bar went in really well. I also did what you suggested before installing it. Ill have to report my engine failure in your section too; ive been meaning to do that! Shaun. -
Gday, Ive got a second hand DNA Motorsports bar and plate intercooler core for sale. The size is 600x300x76mm; replacement GTR intercooler. It was on my car for about a year and performs very well (i had intercooler inlet and outlet air temp guages and the outlet temps were excellent with two different turbos). I am selling it because ive just put another more serious engine in the car and i bought a 100mm core. The core has 3 mounting points; 2 below, and 1 in the middle top of the core. Its in excellent used condition. Pics are below. Price is $200 plus postage firm. You can phone/sms me if you want. Shaun 0414972596

Whats The Diff Between R33 Gtr & N1 Oil Pumps?
Shaun replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah, i think thats what he meant too. I couldnt start my brand new engine with a used oil pump in it! Even it it was perfectly ok, i have peace of mind now! Shaun. PS. On a side note Wet GTR, how much did it cost to get your SMC tuned if you dont mind me asking. Did have an Auto tune feature? -
Whats The Diff Between R33 Gtr & N1 Oil Pumps?
Shaun replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Standard R33GTR oil pump for sale! Shaun -
GDay, I just bought a magnetic sump plug for my gtr but it doesnt fit. Apparently they only fit the gtst steel sumps, not the alloy sumps found on gtr's. Its a pretty strong magnet and is supposed to attract any metal in the oil so it doesnt recirculate around the engine. Pretty self explanitory. Anyway, i bought it from Just Jap for $20, asking $15 including postage. Brand new. On the Central Coast. Shaun. 0414972596.

Whats The Diff Between R33 Gtr & N1 Oil Pumps?
Shaun replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for your input guys. I was getting a bit paranoid about re using the old pump, so i just bought a new N1 pump. I got it for $518 from Hi Octane in Rydalmere. I think its worth it for peace of mind. Nissan sell the pumps for $590 which is interesting. It sucks that ill have to pull the engine out again, but you live and learn i suppose. Any tips on how to stop the engine turning while pulling the crank pulley off? Im not looking forward to that! Shaun. -
Hello. Just wondering what the difference is between the R33 gtr oil pump and the N1 oil pump for the same vehicle. Flow rates? Just jap sell the N1 pump for $595 i think. Is this a normal price, or does anyone know where to get them cheaper? After a full rebuild, im a bit silly for not replacing the pump i think. The engine is now in the car, however, so is it possible to change the oil pump with the engine in the car? I dont have access to the car at the moment, so its hard for me to tell. The standard pump looked fine at the time of disassembly, but im now having second thoughts and feel thats its not worth risking the 6 grand or so if the used oil pump collar cracks or something. Thanks in anticipation, Shaun.

Hey, you guys that are running the Autronics; are they SMC's? I've heard that you need the CDI's when using the SMC with RB engines (sounds like im speaking in code!). Im using an Autronic SM4 on my RB26 with a GT35, as ive been told that the SM4 doesnt have/cause any spark issues and the CDI is not needed. Just wondering. Also, any problems with MAP and 6 throttles? Hows drivability? Thanks, Shaun.
-
I had an GT30 (0.86 turbine housing) on my RB20 with an external gate plumbed into the standard modified manifold. I got full boost by 4200 and, while the boost threshold was high, fu*ck it sounded good while on boost! I had it on for about ayear or so and then went on to something else. 0.63 housing will be more responsive tho. Shaun.

From what ive seen the 044 is just 'in line' underneath the car or something mounted in a normal bracket. I dont really know the ins and outs of the installation though. Anyone else seen it done with success?
-
Cool. Thanks for your input guys. Ill stick with the 044 in line and see how it goes. Shaun.
-
Nah, apparently the Walbro will flow many times its rated output if there is no (or significantly decreased) resistance to flow; ie the Bosch pump 'in line' just down stream. Sydneykid has mentioned to me that he has seen this on about 50 high powered gtrs without problem. I understand what you mean though. Has anyone else out there had any experience with the Bosch pumps in line with a lift pump? I have been told that i can put the Bosch 044 in the tank, but i was just thinking it was a bit dodgy, as its designed as an external pump isnt it? Correct me if im wrong! I really dont want to do the surge tank thing; i dont think its necessary for my application. Thanks, Shaun.
-
GDay, Im aiming for about 350rwkw from my gtr engined r32 gtst (built engine with highmount gt35), and im going to put a Bosch 044 in line with a Walbro 500hp pump in the tank. Ive been told that if i use an 044 in the tank, ive got to always have a quarter tank of fuel due to pick up problems, as fuel starvation could result. Is this the same if i use the 044 in line with the Walbro as a lift pump? Thanks for any info, Shaun. PS. Just before anyone asks; I dont want to use a surge tank due to legality reasons and the stupid cost of fittings. The pump in line will be more than adequate for my application.

Nope, i dont think so. I didnt really look though.
