  1. isn't the mr30 the 4 door? in which case the angles all wrong and they're going to choke you
  2. did they come with a drop link? ie the dangly bit from the roof
  3. Front! Don't suppose you have the part number for those front jobs do you? Did they bolt in ok or anything need moddin?g? My back ones aren't retractable so it doesn't matter really.
  4. Hey Guys, Have DR, seatbelts don't retract right etc, and they need to for blueslip..and I can't get them anywhere...anyone been through this ordeal and able to point me in the right direction? or something else that will bolt in, or something!!!!!!!! Thanks Rob
  5. oh this is nicely timed, I've been getting th DR ready for rego, dropped it in to have a seal replaced cause I don't have the gear for it, steering box was r000ted..$465 to have it rebuilt...thats just the rebuild cost nothing else. apparently they're just like nothing else around.
  6. well..I've scored a factory nissan head with all the porting and stuff done for an L20, big cam and some 42mm webers, so i guess that helps out a lot. The guy I know that ran the stroker motor got 9k rpm out of it, and it was there a lot cause they were racing off road with it. I have access to a machined 2.4 crank and bored block if I want them too. He did say the rear main used to leak a little due to cracnk and lock flex at those revs..but you've gotta expect that I suppose I looked into the closed chamber L18 heads, apparently they're the sss heads that everone wants, and therefor no one can get oh well.
  7. Well this is the wifes car, she wants it to be a bit grumpy, actually she wants it really really angry, and i reckon it'd be a bit of fun. I like the L18 head idea that someone mentioned earlier, sounds like a nice easy way of getting some decent compression. In a bluebird it'd still be reasonably quick I'd reckon, and if some little punk beats me with a stock ca18, oh well. The skylines for sorting them out
  8. oh, and why would the z24 crank limit the revs?
  9. yeah thats the thing really, how far do i really want to go. But as long as it goes ok, and doesn't really cost a bundle, I think thats what i want. i have a DR that I'd much rather spend the money on really. A ca18 front cut would be good..but theres all the other costs like engineering and dicking around with it etc the bother me. But under 1500 is mighty tempting. I'd love to build the l20 with huge compression and cam and whatnot though, just for fun Oh, and its the missus' car, and I don't want it faster than mine
  10. Hey guys, any of you had worked an L20 or know anything about em? Looking at doing one up and I'm curious what sort of hp i can expect etc. Thinking about stroking it with a z24 crank etc too, but that might be down the track a little. the plan to start with is headwork, valves/springs, cam, extractors, zorst, twin webbers. if I can find some webbers at a reasonable price that is! haha Thanks
  11. well....you can put a lot of words into this little box!
  12. why has it only made it to 10? or are you still running it in?
  13. and a computer too. I think i'd rather upgrade the computer than the turbo, just rebuild it. 25psi huh, must be great fun to drive
  14. oh, did that $4500 include them building it DHR-30T?
  15. I'm sorta debatingover what I want a bit. Realy its just a how much do i want to spend. The "plan" is to build it with about 9.0:1 comp, so its got decent off boost response and add boost from there. So I'd probably only be aiming at 12-15psi on top of that, but I may get greedy i don't know. Thats what seems to happen. I'd like to know its not going to explode at higher revs, I know it'll go to 8 and not explode, so I guess I'd like to see 8500 or something. haha this is sounding very full rebuild + your first born son stuff now. I could probably spend less on the motor and spend more a good computer. But yeah, thats the dream at the moment.
  16. Hi all, I'm just starting to think about rebuilding the FJ in the DR (along with everything else in it) and was wondering what I can expect a decent top to bottom build to cost? I don't want to replace the rods, just get 'em peened, replace pistons, bore, valve springs etc. So a full build, I've never rebuilt any kind of dohc motor properly so I don't know what to expect. Any ideas?
  17. My wife and sister both reckon its a muscle car...just to chuck a spanner in the works and screw up all my theories. and yeah there are many "muscle" cars that aren't v8's (that'll learn me for being funny), I just didn't think about them at the time...I tend to associate muscle cars with gt ho falcons, and forget about the rest cause I'm busy drooling...
  18. oh crap I should have read the title...anyway I can't be bothered going to the DR30 one at the moment. I asked the wife and my sister and they both said that the DR was a muscle car...I think the HR is softer myself...whether its a GT or not I don't know...never thought about it, only know they have an rb20 in 'em (don't they?). I reckon they're a GT, but I can't vote now cause I voted muscle car cause I never read it and I'm a dumb arse!
  19. Like??? I had a supra..in comparison the skyline is a go-kart! The supra is a "true" gt, and it weighed about 1600kg. I'd say a 180sx is a sports car, and its only 100-ish kg lighter, and the power delivery is a lot less savage. Maybe its Muscle Grand Sports Tourer?
  20. damn I want some of those flares!
  21. You should be beaten with a mallet or daring to mention Hyundai Excel in the same thread as DR's
  22. I have genuine wound by hand windows thankyou very much!
  23. you're right though, japanese muscle car is a damned funny idea!
  24. Its not a v8, muscle cars are all v8's, it fits the other criteria of sports car, those being light (ralatively, especial compared to gt's), not particularely forgiving and relatively small. MG's were called sports cars and they have the worst brakes of anything in existance don't they? I'm just assuming that bit, 'cause they're british. and besides all that, what was the braking and tires of the day in 1982??
  25. Yeah I had a weird one, took it to the sparky, took 'em half an hour and it turned out to be a wire burnt out in the dash when some dumbarse shorted something and burnt out a couple of wires
