I think you are right, it is the boost spike. The stock ECU will retard timing on excessive air flow = boost spike. Have a look at some data logging I have done for stock ECUs. The modified Skyline had more air flow and more boost. http://home.iprimus.com.au/tkolo/datalog.htm

The large files are for Nissan Fast (Nissan Dealer software). There is 10 CDs all together, each for different region. Some CDs have only vehicle data and some have data and Nissan Fast software (gr.rar, a1.rar). You have to download the file, unzip it with Winace, install Nissan Fast and set it up for CD you want to view.
