  1. does it have gas? there is a pressure sensor on the canister which, when there is gas, allows the compressor to turn on. if there is no gas, or the pressure is low, it doesnt allow power to go to the compresor. if its a 2 pin sensor, yo can short it and see if the compressor turns on. do this at your own risk. steve
  2. says the man with a porche avatar and name.........
  3. shit, thats one ugly ass r33......
  4. my folks saved a shit loads driving their ba gas falcon, compaired to my missis ba xr6 when we drove down south (700k's round trip)
  5. yes, i beleive all this electronic controll crap takes the fun out of driving, and personally i can do with out it. if its a car for the missis, then yes, make it as comfy and safe as possible. Ill use my r32 as an example, its loud, suspension is hard so you can feel everything, the diff clunks around tight corners, the clutch is heavy, the seats are hard, it drinks fuel, basically its a pain in the ass to drive, but, I love the f**king thing and i cant see my self wanting to drive anything else at the moment. I dont know why i like it so much, but i do. steve
  6. thats where im at at the moment. cash is low but i need a car, but i also want a performace engine, so ive decided to buy a $1000 laser to run about with while i build up my tuff engine. that way i can take my time with the build etc steve

  15. ye but if it makes the noise from a cold start then the clutch it self is stuffed.

  17. ENGINE/CAR: 32GTR - RB26 from a 95 R33GTR FAILURE: Valve Guide Snapped, Piston mashed piece of guide into head, screwed piston and head. FACTORS INFLUENCING FAILURE: no idea, engine was in mint condition, didn’t smoke/burn oil, didn’t use up coolant, didn’t leak oil, compression was great, spark plugs were mint too, no signs of detonation, the fuel mixture was real rich. STATE OF TUNE: Stock everything except for pods/CAI COMMENTS: ODO showed 110,000k's when imported, no head work done by me, oil changed every 5000-6000k's with Castrol EDGE. Daily driven (about 250k's per week), occasional thrash, the day before failure the engine was thrashed though.
  18. Hi guys, Anyone know where i can get ARP bolts for a rb26 at a real good price? i see people quoting real good prices in threads but i cant seem to find a low price on the web etc. thanks, steve
  19. it means the seal on the water pump is stuffed and its time for a new pump.
  20. with the engine off see if you can freely spin the fan, if you cant spin it, then it may be the clutch is seized, in which case you should stop driving it cause fans like to explode in all differant directoins when they rotate too much. or it could be the warm summer days making it kick in...... steve
  21. so would it be possible for him to bolt a wheel off another turbo (assuming they are the exact same size/shape etc) and take it in to get balanced? (assuming everything else is fine) steve
  22. hi guys, a search brought up recommended workshops, but im after a shop that’ll machine and build up my rb26. its just a standard build, with stock components, so i don’t need anything fancy or hard core. anyone got any experience with any shops that built up their rb26? thanks, steve
  23. i done a search the other day on "forged pistons", it brought up about about 35 pages, and i went through most of them (which had relevent titles) and came to the conclusion that cp are the way to go, just jap and unique auto sell the cp pistons for about $1500, so another $400 on better rods wont make too much diff to the overall budget i dont think, plus it "future proofs" you incase you want more power, i think.... steve
  24. also, check this out, you might be interested. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ra...=forged+pistons ive pm'ed him but havnt receoved a responce yet, i assume he's on holiday. asfor the compression, i have no idea. steve
