What Wing Is This? Oem Nissan With Pic
FBRacing replied to freyb's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
What kind of paint is on it? Your pics are kinda dark so it looks aluminum'ish. I've seen that before somewhere, just remember where . . Any part numbers stamped on it? -
Thanks Gavin! I must of overlooked this when I googled it

Update: Decided not to purchase the doors after I came across a white S14 with carbon doors, bonnet, boot, fenders, and just about everything the guy could. Let's just say it was way too much. Only thing that was white was the rear quarters, roof, and bumpers.

All good buddy. Did you find out what the actual odometer reading was?

Rota Grid Fitment On R33
FBRacing replied to sky017's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Are the Grids you are looking at the same as the Grid Drift that can be found at driftworks.com? On their site, there's a few different grid designs that they offer. My understanding is they start the drift wheel at 8.5 and wider. -
Today driving home I was admiring my car on how clean it is. I then started thinking about how the people before me really took care of it. But how many people have owned this car? Is there a way to track down ownership of a Japanese car? What did the odometer say when the car came across? I don't know the answer since all documents of importation are lost between owner(s). What I know about the cars history is little to none. At one point, the speedometer was converted from KMH to MPH. So that actual odometer reading couldn't be accurate. When I was purchasing the car, I saw it with what I thought it to be 123,000 KM but when it could be something so much more. Here in the U.S. we use CarFax.com that tells all reported accidents, ownership transfer, odometer readings, and any red flags. Does anyone know of a such site for Japan or know how to obtain any history of a Japanese car prior of importation? This is straight curiosity for me and is by no means urgent. Thanks

200% agreed. That's why I suggest a full cage. It will make that uni-body chassis have nearly .0001% flex. I understand cages are a pain in the ass for a daily but what the guy is wanting is literally the only way to achieve it. You can't achieve a stiff anti-flex chassis with braces. You might get a couple done but it will allow other areas to flex that can't handle it. I've crack front and rear glass before twisting frames up. But first thing I'd do if I had his car is take it to a body shop to get the doors realigned. Then work on stiffing.
-
Cage it from front to rear. 1.75"x.250" chromoly tubing. Put it on a frame jig to keep the uni-body frame straight. Only way to get what you're looking for. All this bracing from Japanese manufactures is big $$$$. Over priced for what it is to me. Find an actually race shop not just a average joe. Race shops been there and done that. Probably answer your questions better also. Examples: Obviously this is a S-Chassis but it's all the same. Car gets tweaked every direction and all is good.

Custom cf fenders? A lot of $$$$$$$$!
-
Yup. Phoenix, Arizona USA.
-
All the time but doesn't the shipments get sent to Australia? Doesn't make sense to have it shipped there and then to the US.
-
Retract that they only have GTR front guards. They have GTS fronts with those side vents. I'm still unsure if I like those or not. I have that style of cf fenders on my CRX.
-
I actually really like the slim look of the GTST. To me it looks like the car flows better thru body lines. Also if you look at wide body rears, the gas lid is recessed in. I haven't seen anyone make the gas lid flow with the rear quarter yet. Also most are kinda "blocky" compared to the rest of the curvy car. I'm super picky with cosmetics. It's the small details that no one knows about that catches my eye. The hood I have from Seibon is borderline perfect. The lips coming up from the vents I feel are to tall. Could of cut them down a little so it's not "LOOK AT ME!"
-
Well, they're GTR fenders. GTR fenders are flared more than GTST which is what my car is. So not extremely wide but wider than stock which might look funny when you look from front to back head on.
-
Just watch out for the shipping. That'll hurt the wallet
-
Yeah, saw the front guards/fenders but the ones I saw were widebody"ish". Kinda look funny if you don't flare the rear. If you see stock looking fronts for a GTST let me know! Check this out: http://carbonfinish.co.uk/products/nissan/r33/?list=

Another read about how one shady company made things hard: http://skylinegt-r.wikidot.com/0-60mrex

Quoted from: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_import_vehicle Some Americans are interested in Japanese domestic market vehicles, like the Nissan Skyline. In 1999, a California company called Motorex had a number of Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25s crash-tested. They submitted their information to NHTSA and petitioned for 1990-1999 GT-Rs and GTSs to be declared eligible for import.[7] Many Skylines were subsequently imported through Motorex. This lasted until late 2005, when NHTSA learned not all 1990 through 1999 Skyline models would perform identically in crash testing. Motorex had submitted information for only the R33, but had asserted that the data applied to R32, R33, and R34 models.[7] NHTSA determined that only 1996-1998 R33 models have been demonstrated as capable of being modified to meet the federal motor vehicle safety standards, and that only those models are eligible for import. In March 2006, Motorex ceased all imports and Motorex principal Hiroaki "Hiro" Nanahoshi was arrested and held on $1 million bail on financial, kidnapping, and assault charges.[8][9] Better understanding what happened here.

Thanks for the encouragement. Talked with the body guy today and he'd said it shouldn't be a big deal. He hasn't done cf doors himself but he was gonna call a friend to come help from a local drift shop that has. So... Gonna order some. If it's too crazy, paint them white.
-
I've been told to never ever go to California. Apparently several cars have been seized and crushed cuz they're not recognized there as a legit car. From my understanding there is a hand full of skylines legally there due to loop holes before Motorex went under. There's a black GTR a import magazine built but I'm unsure if they still own it. I've always wondered how Paul Walker was able to drive his r34 around. I bought a r32 GTR in 99 from Motorex. In 2001, there was word Feds were seizing them going thru the grapevine. Sold the car a few days later so I'd wouldn't be out of the money. Never knew what happened after that with that car.
-
Yup. Apirl of 89 r32 will be the first wave. Some people are unsure if they'll be stay expensive or be drastically cheaper. From a few buddies that live in Vancouver, Canada... they hope they'll be what they are now. It may open the aftermarket support better over here. It took me over nearly 5 months for a rear half of a 33 to be bought, crated, and shipped over here. It'd be nice to get parts for what you guys are buying them for without the crazy shipping and customs fees.

Florida, Texas, Washington, Idaho. I'm sure there might one or two more but I'm unaware of them.

I thought of just painting them. Anyone know if they fit well or is there a lot of work to install them? I can work fiberglass not cf.
