Jealous! I keep hearing that about Rotas. Rotas fall apart or something?
-
Would you guys think it'd be wrong to re-powercoat the wheels possible black or white again? Reason is a lot of these sets I'm locating have curb rash. Some look so bad like touch up welding and straightening is needed
-
Eh not so fast there bud. There's a lot of wheels out there that have bolts in them for decoration. Gives the bead lock or multi-piece rim look. I'm on my phone and pics are not super clear nor large. Real= gotta watch them and keep check on them making sure they don't back out. It also depends if they are a three or two piece. Three piece have a seal or gasket between the two halves while the center hub section holds it together. Two piece is just a center hub and wheel. Fake= Maintained free curb appeal. Doesn't really matter cause it'd think it'd be that much cooler if they were real! If real they must have used aluminum wheel halves with maybe titanium centers or maybe pot brass then painted to blend! That would be killer!!!

Skyline Is Too Loud (Never Thought I'd Say That)
FBRacing replied to iTwix's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Doing a waste gate upgrade like that requires tuning. You went from whatever internal which is normally 5-7psi (unless you have a boost controller) to whatever you received the waste gate as from manufacture. Externals are much more adjustable and tunable. That's why an external waste gate was engineered for, to gain more options for tuning. A lot of people don't realize how much that spring inside can alter your turbos personality. You really need to get the car professionally tuned if not done yet. -

Sorry bud but electrical like that is my Achilles heal. Like I said, electrical gremlin. All I can say is good luck and cross your fingers it's something stupid easy like a fuse. -
Agree with ya guys. Is that a two piece wheel or is that all fake studs? It's hard to tell

Have you tuned it yet since installing the external? -
If you look at that pic I posted, that's a Zenki car. Hood is a Seibon GTR hood for a Kouki along with Kouki lamps. I'm working a VIS Racing Kouki front bumper. Zenki=S1, Kouki=S2. Only difference on fenders is GTRs are wider. Otherwise they line up with both gen of lights. Hoods are different. If you use a Zenki hood, you gotta use Zenki bumper, grill, and lamps. Things don't line up correctly. Don't get me wrong, they'll fit but you'll see large gaps and misalignments. You're car will turn into a 100ft car. She looks good 100ft away until close. Lol

Don't worry about those people. Majority of them are kids sitting behind a computer ragging on others ignorance to make themselves feel like their dick is bigger. Learning takes asking questions. I'm gonna guess that silencer you're referring to would kinda work. It's called a SuperTrapp. Good mufflers and tunable depending on how many rings you run. Seems like a lot of trouble and not a whole lot of room to do so. Google SuperTrapp and look for the dimensions. Measure it out. Before you start playing with spring rates in your waste gate, probably want to look at howstuffworks.com and search turbo. It will help you understand majority of the basics and some advance calcs on forced induction. But when it comes down to it and a lot of others are explaining to ya....plumb it back into your down pipe. I'm sure any muffler shop can help. -
Only difference I see between strut braces is price. Otherwise they all perform the same.

Agree

What I understand so far; You own a r33 with a rb25de You have a auto trans Only revs pass 2k in park and neutral You already replaced the afm My questions are; This a Zenki or Kouki? The afm new or used? Have you pulled the coils and plugs out? Have you looked at the connection to the afm? Did you check you ignitor on your cover? Have you checked the fluid level in your trans? Color right? Checked your trans computer and main ECU?

Plumb it back into your down pipe. You stated you liked it before doing the external. Pretty much answered your question. Venting to atmosphere always creates more noise. That's why people do it. The turbo flutter inside the engine bay gets attention. There's a guy on here that plumbed his through the hood with a tear drop finish. Looked different. -
Found them on yahoo auction japan as suggested for 134,800 yen. Just trying to get my translator to work better. Actually finding quite a few sets. I saw them on Facebook and really started feeling it. A 18"x9.5" +14 would look good. Was think the Volk Rays six spoke or knock off Rota in black but a white car with those in white might look killer. I don't know... It's a hard decision. I'm have a carbon hood, side mirrors, b pillars, exhaust shield, and full carbon GTR on the boot. Not sure if black wheels would suit it or go white... keep going back and forth. I have silver BBS's on now. I'm re-painting the car at the moment white pearl. Fixing all the body imperfections.

Where's your straps!?! Geesh guy... you're lucky you didn't start a fire! Do as stated above... Melted wiring, fuses, relays, buses, computer.... Got yourself an electrical gremlin now. -
I also can verify s2 lamps work on s1 fenders. Follows the contours well and seamless.

Maybe try knightracer.com? Thinking I might of seen a set like you're looking for.

What model is this? Easy to come by? Where could I find a set and how $$$$?

Tried quitting a dozen times. I should for my kids but I just enjoy smoking. One of my downfalls in life. -
Do I Need An Air Purifier Or Ioniser In My Car?
FBRacing replied to sally's topic in General Maintenance
My 33 had one installed. A factory option. Sitting on the garage shelf now. I smoke but I only smoke in the car with the windows down, outside vent on, and windows stay down 10 mins after smoking. Plus I've recently trying those electronic cigarettes. -
I've been doing fab work like this for over 20 yrs. My personal opinion is if you're a weekend hobbyist, use a cheap cut off saw with a general metal blade. Generally used for cutting mild steel like 1020 cold rolled or lesser. Then get yourself a 4" hand grinder and various grinding disk. I love flap disk. Great for knoching tubing for caging. I did this for years till I upgraded to a over sized mill with a end mill bit. I also now use few different methods of cutting now. To cut DOM and chrom-moly tubing for cages, I like to use a horizontal bandsaw. It's liquid cooled and kept from distorting the metal. For intercooler piping or coolant piping like aluminum or stainless, I cut up u-bends with a vertical bandsaw at low speeds. Makes it really easy to get those angles needed to make manifolds etc. I am in the process of setting up my CNC plasma table up for tube knoching. A simple chop saw and angle grinder would run you around $200 for both. Great to get you by for a weekend hobby guy. Build a cage here, maybe intercooler piping there. Put it away for the next 6 months until the next project. If you're into the gadgets and greatest, expect to pay thousands. But unless you're running a fab shop to justify that purchase, don't. There are hole saw kits that can produce knochs. Seen them put into a table vise and use a 1/2" corded drill to spin it. I actually bought one long ago to try it. They're cheap but where I found the limitation of it was how good your hole saw you put on it. A good hole saw can cost $80-200 easy. Also found it was hard to hold on to the drill and spray cutting oil on it. As soon as I let off one hand to spray oil, damn thing would grab and twist. Either getting me in the chin or twisting my wrist. Kinda two guy tool which sucked. And as soon as you don't oil the saw, it was cooked. So went back to the chop saw and grinder. I'm a huge fan of Makita tools. They make very dependable tools. Personally, stay away thumb switches. Only get a dead man or full hand switch on an angle. Prevents accidental switch on when plugging it in. Nothing's worse than having a grinder fling around the shop floor when you plug it in. If you have any other questions, you can PM me. I can give you tips and suggestions to make fabbing faster. Hope this helped.

If you're pulling the motor apart that far then go all the way. Give it new bearings, rings, and seals. It's not really much when you think it'll last you a long time until you want more from it.
