Basic Roll Cage Options And Saftey
sleeperZ31GTR replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Risking- couldn't agree with you more. I'm building a JZA80 Abflug and it's an aero. We bought a Cusco bolt in cage and F*** me was it shit. I looked at the sandwich plate design to the floor pan and laughed. Ended up chopping it all up, completely redesigning it, added bolt in side intrusion bars and made the hole thing completely bolt it. Now it'll actually do its job both safety and rigidity. I'm surprised these cages are designed so close to the occupants. I spose it's the easiest way. -
R33 Gtr Brake Upgrade
sleeperZ31GTR replied to XGTRX's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'm running 34 sumitomos on my 300z. I've had dramas with pulling up, glazing the front rotors. I have a pair of F40's with custom 2 piece rotors but it's for my A70. My plan is to utilise what's there already. The bias is good. I hit up GSL rally sport and bought a front and rear slotted set and 1ARM pads. It was really cheap hence why I jumped on them. Because the pads are fairly soft I'll be going through more pads than rotors so it's economical. Also running high temp fluid. I'll be running some ducting to the front and see how I go. Like others said maximise what you have already. Don't go project mu rotors... WAYYYY to $$$ You could get ones made up for less than that. -
Sleepers Z31 Vh45 Turbo'd 300Zx

Sorted my coil packs contacted vhpower and Eric's making a kit from an Audi S5. Stoked, looking forward to these, injectors, box overhaul, installing my fuel flex gauge and see what it can pull on both 85 and 100 Ron. I've also gotta finish off my oil cooler/relo kit and possibly installing my accusump. Now to find the time... -
Plenty of shops out there using/selling surcon. Hyperdrive is one that comes to mind.

Um yes lol Starter motor relocated to the other side and bell housing welded back up, adapter plate made, custom shifter, ditched the transfer case and made new mounts. I can't take and not taking credit for the build, my mate built the car and I bought it off him. First ever car I've bought not built... But it's been done extremely well. Anyone know of a better coil pack that fits a 45? And also will there be another bbk group buy??? -

Thanks guys. I'll try uploading a pic of it on boost. It does sound nice! Thanks Luke GTR, I don't know how that didn't come up when I searched it... Even on nico forum there isn't any details. Anyway I'll be buying them, now I have to find a set of better coil packs. Then I should be able to use what I have to easily 5-550rhp -
Ok so I've sent off a for a quote on a long kit with synchros and rear bearing retainer for a FS5W70C gearbox. Also noted to buy a Nismo pivot ball, has anyone here bought one or has a seller that they can recommend to me? I figure ill run the box to the edge and when it gives me grief ill pull it out and stick either a T56 magnum in or a Hollinger

Cheers for the comments. Car will be used mainly for track. I'd like to stick to pump but I'm worried about pinging and it's comp being 10.1:1 blowing a ring. I havnt been able to find someone or a build with a vh45 going more than 10-12psi so that's why I was leaning to e85. And yeah wot doesn't Take long before I'm at the servo again lol The 550cc's are enough for 600, currently I'm on 380's an only 91% duty cycle and without sequential injection (I think that's the right term...) I simply can't fit 1000's in there... Clearance is an issue to the inlet manifold. If I do go TT ill be making a ffim where I'll have all the room in the world but for now I'll max out what's there. I'll see how it holds up on 10-12psi on 100 ron, then look into e85. 600-650 is the plan, anything more simply wont get to the ground. Also looking into 18x10 18x11.5 rims. -
Yeah so... I don't quite own a skyline but the Nissan I own shares a lot of R33 GTR parts. It's a 1988 Z31 300zx wide body Converted to a VH45DE infinity V8 GT35 xr6 turbo Link standalone R33 GTR brakes GTR 5 speed N200 long nose 3.7 LSD diff GTR bucket seats Tube & fin IC Runs on 6 pound of boost and creates approx 420rhp and the car only weighs around 1100kg It's a pretty hairy ride. Plans - Motor Moving up to 550cc E85 compatible injectors Custom fuel tank & app e85 compatable pump Increasing the spark (havnt settled on how yet) Custom log manifold Possibly twin turboing... Other loose ends Move the fuse box and relays into the cabin Shave the engine bay Look into running 355/332 brake upgrade and bias valve Pics to come

Cool cool thanks for the replies and for the info, really helpful. Realised tonight it isn't a gts-t box it's a propper GTR box so does this change anything? I'm going to pull the box out next weekend and have a look at the clutch, send it off to get rebuilt and get the pressure plate and flywheel machined. I'm hoping it's as simple as that... Does the GTR box share the same problems??? Centeral coast - thanks man, appreciated. Os there any truth behind the R33 GTR box running triple synchromesh's? Mr stabby - 6-650 rhp Hattori - thanks man, yeah I had a rebuilt R154 with all the marlin Crawley upgrades that I'm kinda wishing I didn't sell now... Meh. Thanks guys appreciate the input

Hi all. Newbie to this forum and Nissans in general... But I'll get there And I've tried searching already for this topic but can't find exact matches or relevant info. I have a heavily customised Z31 300zx that's using R33 running gear and brakes with a VH45 turbo motor. During race wars in perth I've damaged the 3-4 synchro and the thrust bearing is on the way out. From what I've read here they seem like the normal things that let go. I'm looking into doing more mods with the car, so instead of replacing new for oem I'd like to replace them with stronger & better parts if available. So far I've replaced the clutch master cylinder, braided line to slave, new standard slave and redline fluid. Questions - is there a good online breakdown of a fs5w70c ? - can anyone recommend the os giken gear sets? I've used their stuff before but never gear sets. - is there anything I'm missing when upgrading the gb? - and also if anyone knows of well priced sellers for things like the synchro's Thanks in advance
