Fs : R33 Rear Calipers (Pair) - Fully Rebuilt With New Pads
MS-75 replied to MS-75's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
sorry mods - i put this in the wrong section. Wasnt paying attention as it should be in parts and accessories. Please move it there if you get a moment. thanks sean -
ITEM: R33 rear calipers (pair) - fully rebuilt with new pads PRICE: $300 ono (of course a set of second hand ones might be $150 or so, but these are now in as new condition) SHIPPING: I'm pretty flexible - I can discuss shipping with anyone interested. CONTACT: Bounce me a PM on here or email me at sean75 at gmail.com DETAILS: I bought the calipers to go on my drag car, but have now gone to totally different setup and these are no longer needed. All perishable seals, boots and o-rings were replaced one of the pistons is fresh as well Calipers are fitted with new Bendix standard material pads - I wanted the pads to bite from stone cold for drag racing. Both calipers have been sprayed black with VHT brake component paint. Since being rebuilt they have not been used at all. In the below pic the caliper is just dummied up to check clearances. Uploaded with ImageShack.us The discs in the picture are surplus as well - they are mitsubishi 380 discs that I had slotted. They only had 1500 kms of use before I bought them off a wrecked car - $100

Whilst he is responsible for his own actions, I feel such sadness and sympathy for his family and friends. Please, please be careful guys. Those sorts of speeds in built up areas, especially in such close proximity to other cars are a recipie for disaster. He has paid the ultimate price, and now his family and friends have to deal with it. RIP.

I dunno man - this has been the only reply I've received from the mountain of emails I've sent!

Received approx 30 mis ago from Paul at AIR Hi sean, Thank you for your interest in A.I.R. The 13th of Dec is somthing i have heard for a while and i am sorry to say it is not true. As you probably aware we are half way in resurfacing our race track we are hoping to finish it as soon as we can and get the ball rolling. We are hoping to hold street meets early next year as soon as we set a date im sure you will here about it. Kind Regards Paul So no action this side of christmas - although my mate is a senior manager at Boral so I'll see when they are finishing the track off. (yes there were troubles with the machinery sinking into the track) Sean

Here are some vids from the day. The 32 GTR sounded really good. http://au.youtube.com/paradox667 http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=qVsY5T8N930 Don't stress though - it's unlikely that you'll have to worry about being beaten by a supra next year.
-
NOS was worth approx 15rwkw for the supra, however it didn't actually help on the day as it spun the tyres before reaching peak HP anyway - If it had held all the way to 7500 (the tyres let go just over 7100) with the happy gas on the cooler it should have been around 515-525. He was spewing as he's caught the HP bug and was shooting for a dyno sheet with a 5XX on it so we figured we'd put my NOS bottle to good use-shame it didn't come off!! Given that boost is still at 24psi, there's a bit more to go however.

Automatics On The Dyno
MS-75 replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The two graphs on my dyno sheet tell the story when it comes to acceleration. Peak hp does not win races, average hp, or area under the power curve, does. Have a look at the two graphs. Although the locked run has higher peak hp, the open converter run wins hands down for average hp over the power pull. -
Automatics On The Dyno

Have a look at this guys. I run a toyota A340 4 speed auto (supra auto), modified, manual shift. I also run a lock-up converter with increased clutch area. The converter is relatively small as the motor I'm running is 4.5L, meaning it has good bottom end torque. The below graph shows 2 power pulls, done back to back, with the second one done with the lock-up in the converter activated. It pulled an extra 10kw, but if you run a bigger converter, that number will be bigger. Also, consider that in std trim the clutches are not meant to hold a motor at full power, so increasing clutch area and line pressure is adviseable. Ultimately I plan to try the lock-up out in the deep end of the track for extra MPH. Cheers Sean -
Yep. I got to drive my Crown through there once after I got it registered with the turboed 2.8L, then I moved to Sydney for a year, and when I returned (1998), the car park was no more. I remember being down there when there was 200+ dudes and the cops raided the place en-mass. Good times

Bugger. I was having a good day until you reminded me of that! sean

That's a terrible shame-but brilliant that he's come out of it okay, and that's the most important part. That was one of my favourite comp cars. Here's a shot I got of it at Compak Attak in May. Sean.

That was Graeme Rutgers who runs/owns AME. He was well pissed with the police.

Thanks guys-it's been a long journey to get this far, but it's all coming together. There is still probably around 1 sec's inprovement to be had before I need to open the motor up and actually change it away from std. I haven't done ANY work on getting it to launch yet, so even on the 10.2 it still crawled out of the hole in 1.80. In addition, it's suffering from boost induced valve float with the stock springs and 22psi (we only identified the problem 2 weeks out and so didn't have time to change thembefore the meet.) With any luck, by Jamboree It should have over 500rwkw and be launching properly. My one regret about the meet was that due to competing I didn't get time to take in any of the other cars that were running. Man WSID is an awesome facility Bring on Jamboree. Cheers Sean

134 eh? That's certainly stomping in the deep end of the track. I drove over from Adelaide for the event and had a ball. I had a moment when the plenum ruptured with a 6-inch crack along a weld, but we recovered by smearing it with epoxy, covering it with gaffa tape and then wrapping the plenum with 3 ratchet straps. It then went on to record a PB during a solo run, [email protected], and was on the limiter for the last 60m. To make the weekend better, I then ended up i the final (bit of a Stephen Bradbury actually-but I'm not compaining) and won Compact extreme from a pro looking VW drag car. In the end it was worth the 2800km round trip. Cheers Sean

Present company excluded of course..................................

I'm still on track to make it there. i fitted my trans scatterblanket today (it's dirty now-booooooooo) I'm having a new windscreen fitted monday, and my ANDRA licence should arrive monday too. My new fuel system is all finished, I've finally fitted a sports steering wheel, so a tech inspection should be in the offing in the next 2 weeks. I'm also having the car re-dynoed next monday with the 2JZ ARP head studs, full DC Electric Water Pump, hardcore manifold shielding/wrapping and (hopefully 25-27psi) more boost. I look forward to meeting a few of you guys (even if you do all drive datsuns...............=-) If you see a blue crown pissing out smoke, come and say hello. Sean

The only thing that governs the combination of front and rear tyres is the construction type. Drag slicks, front runners and older (very old..) road tyres are of X-ply, or Bias ply construction. (have a siff about on the web for an in depth explanation and diagrams) All other tyres are of Radial construction. Nitto drag tyres, MickeyThompson radials(not the slicks), BFGoodrich Drag Radials and Hoosier Radials are all marginal for street use, but are still radials, and as such you do not need special front tyres to go with them (your normal street rubber is fine). Hope this helps Sean

Last time raced I had my Hoosier X-ply front runners on with the BF Goodrich Drag radials on the rear. It was amusing to watch the ANDR officials comb their regs to find a reason why I couldn't run like that. In short though-they couldn't find one. (because there is no rule on that one-and because it's fine as a combo) As for the radial front/X-ply rear combo-Mr Blond is ,of course, completely correct. The basic reason is that the radials don't much allow sideways movement of the car on the tyre, whereas X-plys do. What can happen is that the back of the car starts to move around on the tyre-bouncing from side to side, with the front staying put. This can get you into a positive-feedback condition where the bounce from side to side becomes more and more violent, eventually causing the car to sidestep and slide, or roll. Bad bad shit. Think speedwobbles on a skateboard-but at 100mph plus in a car............. Sean=-)

I had a PVC, 3inch 90deg elbow on the outlet of my intercooler when the car ran 11.0@125.....(not anymore though) Also, my 2nd injector rail bosses are not welded into the runners, but glued in with DEVCON. I was curious after seeing that the specs of the epoxy seemed suitable (ie-rated strength, temp tolerance) so I tried it. It hasn't missed a beat!

ARP make them-although I cant remember is they come in metric (probably not).

http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/vi...pic.php?t=94301 Awesome, just freakin awesome. Looks like a trips to Compak Attak and Jamboree will be in order this year. Perhaps re-fitment of numberplates and re-registration are in order too. Sean.
