  1. exactly grr.
  2. Here's me. Rollcage has now been completed and I'm having it tech inspected soon. Sean
  3. At minumum else we can look forward to time boards and a stickier surface Perhaps even some soap in the toiles so you can wash your hands-but that may be too much to expect.....
  4. Guys, I got this from AIR this arvo- "I am sorry the 4 6 & Rotary Nationals has been cancelled. There will be a press release within the next week explaining what is happening out here at AIR. Cheers, Trish" Sean
  5. Hi Shane, the line locker set-up they are likely to be using is 'roll control', where the brakes are stomped when the car is in stage, and the button flicked, holding pressure in the front brake circuit to keep the car still. When the transbrake is released, the locker also releases and off the car goes. Also-that looks really really bad............ Sean
  6. A completely bolted in half-cage is not compliant - according the current ANDRA Tech Director Ken Dickie. At least the main hoop must be welded into the car. (back-stays and side intrusion bar may be bolted in.) Unfortunately however, due to the description present in the ANDRA hand book, this point is not clear (along with a boatload of other stuff-the ANDRA rulebook is rediculously light-on) I have been through the process of sorting what is and isn't compliant in the last few days as I am having a cage fitted to my car at the moment. A full cage(minimum 6-point) is required for 9.99 and under, and the half-cage (4-point) for 10.99-10.0. Hope this helps Sean
  7. Not sure yet mate, but I think so. I'll find out this week and let you know. Sean
  8. I'd say at minimum you'll be needing a Super Street Licence (11.99 and under) and a tailshaft loop-not to mention some slicks or drag radials. Good work.
  9. How was your Xmas and NewYears Chops? Good I hope mate. I'll give it a red-hot go at least. It ran the 10.4 on 20 psi, and has now recorded 447rwkw on 23psi-with the head gasket leaking pretty badly (studs and EWP should deliver another 25-40rwkw.) I'm changing the diff ratio up to a 3.08 from 3.23 too as was running out of revs. The 3.08 and more power should see it close to (if not over) 140mph-which is parachute territory. See you there Sean
  10. Feel free to come and have a stickybeak if you see it out in the paddock at AIR mate. I'm just finishing reassembly this morning after putting a set of ARP 2JZ Supra head studs in it. Given the state of the gasket, It looks like that on boost it's been leaking combustion pressure out cyls 1 & 6 for quite a while probably. (the stock plastic region head bolts a pretty weak) I've also just fitted up a DC Electric water pump and controller, which will allow me to run the motor about 15deg colder than the stock thermostat-which should deliver a bit more power and allow me to cool the car down between runs. Seeyou there Sean
  11. I'm planning on running my Crown at the meet. I'll probably be doing my licencing passes on the friday night T'n'T. Cheers Sean
  12. I'm just trolling mate..... I don't have any real complaints anyway as that rule counts me out straight away (4.5L 6cyl). I'm limited to ET brackets or Compact extreme, but at least I can have a go. Sean
  13. Um, I'd like the maximum engine displacement increased from 4.1 to 4.5L........ sean
  14. Yes she's registered - but is it legal, and do I drive it on the road much? Nooooooo. I agree-a street legal 10 or 9 second car is practically impossible. Passing emissions laws alone would be the killer-let alone everything else... Hmm-You're probably right chops. I was having a look at the rulebook last night and I think that a full cage would be wise. Considering the car was far from running at it's potential on the 10.45, and I can't even drive it properly yet, the probability that it'll go under 10.00 is pretty high. I think that I'll also be going for a parachute mount at the same time so (only 3mph off now) it's all there when I need it-and for when I go to a bigger turbo (seriously ) Sean
  15. F**K YEAH ALARM. NOW.
  16. Excellent. I shall consult my rulebook. Thanks
  17. Hmm. Intersting MrBlonde. I'm currently contemplating cage construction, and I like the sound of that. Explain when you have a moment? Cheers Sean
  18. Excellent!! What similarities are there between the GTS-4 drivetrain and and GTR? Do you think it's on borrowed time, or have you upgraded certain bits of the drivetrain to cope?
  19. Looks like there will be some action in the 6cyl RWD radial tyre ranks this summer. Cool. And here I thought my [email protected] (72 Crown, BFG) would be a reasonable run from last saturday! Bugger. The car was hitting the limiter way out, so a diff change is on the cards. Nice time there mate. Well done. Is there a thread on SAU for a few more details on the car? I was booted too from AIR last sunday after a [email protected] (hoosier-but still only 1.860ft) so I've got a bit of work to do over christmas. I'd say at least one of us will be in single digits by march. And again-well done. Sean Adelaide
  20. It's $20 to get in to the show, and it's open 11-10 Sat and 11-5or6 on Sun. Dyno comp heats are going on all day Saturday, with the finals on Sunday. I don't have a any more info than that, but after I drop the Crown off at Wayville tonight I'll post up any more details I find out. Cheers Sean
  21. What sort of on-boost timing numbers are you guys using? Sean
  22. Hi guys-I can't be sure exactly how the run I had on Shauns dyno (391rwkw) relates to the reading from Blackwood (381rwkw) as there were a few variables involved. The first difference is that the run at Blackwood was done in Shootout 8.1, which is supposedly for forced induction V8s, whilst at Boostworx it was on Shootout 6 (for 6'cyls). Secondly, the 381 it pulled at Blackwood was the second-to-last power pull after 1.5 hours of heavy load tuning. Hence, the entire engine/cooling system was heat soaked to f**k (poor thing was nearly boiling-and the trans cooler was turning water sprayed from a bottle straight into steam......) Thirdly, on the rollers at BDT I didn't have the elbow on the front of the turbo to get the airfilter away from the radiator airflow, and so the filter was plugged straight onto the turbo, pulling hot air straight in. Finally, when I pulled the plenum cover off the other day I found a couple of aluminium shavings in there (from some die-grinding I'd been doing somewhere on the intake system I guess), so I put some fine stainless mesh over all the intake runner bellmouths-and it was still on there when I ran it on Saturday at boostworx. Sooo-I'm not sure if the modes make much difference to the crown, as it boosts up almost instantly-but I don't really know to be honest. The fact the car wasn't hot on saturday and the cooler intake air would have cetainly pumped the power up, but the mesh over the intake ports would have certainly pulled some off. (I've pulled the mesh out after checking that nothing more has come through though). So as you can see, there were enough things different to cloud the issue. The Dyno comp at the HPshow this weekend should be a good comparison however. Heats are on sat, and the finals on sunday. I'm also upping the boost a bit too. Cheers Sean
  23. Hi mate-I'm running a Crane Hi-6 and PS-92 coil on my 1FZ-FE with GT42. I'm also using an Autronic SMC. I've had absolutely no dramas with the system, and am running 390rwkw at the moment. The problem I can see is the fact you are running multi coil. The unit I have is only suitable for an electronic dizzy configuration. I suspect you will be limited to a multicoil set-up. Cheers Sean Adelaide
  24. Here's my sheet from the Crown. Thanks for letting me join in boys, much appreciated. Sean
  25. Thanks for organising it Will, and thanks to Shaun and Boostworks for their efforts. Sorry I was a bit late-I was doing a few little jobs before the Horsepower show next weekend. I'm pretty sure I saw Terry's R33 go 355 on the first run on higher boost and Chops went 229 late in the day. If anyone got any video of my blue whale on the dyno I'd love to get a copy. Cheers Sean
