A friend and a cousin of mine are. I have a 2.4 litre turbo diesel hilux surf 4x4. Diesel without a turbo would be damn slow as the turbo gives it all its low down torque. The fuel pump on my 4x4 is mechanical and runs off engine rpm and is a big sucker. To rebuilt a diesel fuel pump is aound $1500 and to buy a new one is around $3500, so they are very different to a petrol fuel pump. I say ditch ur current engine and get 1 that already turbo charged!!

FYI When I went to get my 4x4 import recently registered all they checked was the engine and vin numbers. I could have had anything in there they wouldnt have cared as they rely on the roadworthy for all those checks. When I was there, there were 3 woman doing the checks and the 1 that did my car didnt even know what car it was and where the engine number was even after I showed here 3 times she couldnt see it and finially just gave up and said it was ok.
