Hahaha, yeah thats the max I'm going to pay (more like 20, but negotiate down from 25) Just after a good conditioned one which isn't going to be a lemon

Hi All, In 19 days I'm beginning to go shopping in order to get myself a s14 200sx (I know not quite a skyline but hey its still a nissan). At the moment I'm sifting through classifieds to see what ones are on the market. I'm running out places to look. (I'm after a stockish one [particularly no boost controllers etc] That has done around 100,000km - 120,000km MAX, my budget is around $20-25k.) Do any of you know of some respected classifieds that aren't listed below? Skylines Classifieds Section www.drive.com.au www.tradingpost.com.au www.carsguide.com.au www.carpoint.com.au www.autoweb.com.au http://cracker.com.au/ www.motorpoint.com.au http://www.autoguide.com.au Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

Transmission Questions
leb replied to huskerjoe's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
huskerjoe I heard a guy who was a paraplegic and he owned a NSX, He loved manuals so he used hand controls. Have you considered a tiptronic? This may blow your budget but DAN00h's idea sounds best to me mate, be most rationale and easiest to get parts for if its universal -
Get the 32 GT-R and with the left over money spend it on re-conditioning it that way its reliable. Like everyones said, a car is just for driving, not an investment. But in terms of rationability the 32 would be the go (its so old that its not going to depreciate at the same rate as that of the WRX or R33 GT-R. Any car you have you are going to lose money on. Except for antique cars but thats a different league altogether. Go the 32 GT-R

R32 2 Door Sedan!! what ya think??
leb replied to BenA31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
There's already such things as a "2-door sedan", its more commonly referred to as a "coupe" and is alot more practical -
foznice Don't worry about it mate, that guy quite simply NEEDS A LIFE. I'm on my green P's and with so much crap in the media how we're "all bad drivers" I know the discrimination you feel. Just ignore them, its good you've gained a sense of the idiots on the road but yeah don't get too worked up about it Just remember the golden rule: Common sense prevails!

The proud owner of a new R33 Skyline GTS-T

Very nice mate, it looks damn good in white too -
pentae Yeah maybe I am an idiot, but when you're paying $30, 000 on a car you haven't even test driven, let alone even seen with your own eyes, you would take the risk of throwing away that much money? Ok, so the condition notes say Runs very well and is mechanically sound.. How do you know that it is viable? this car hasn't even got a condition rating from 1 - 5. Its not like they're going to say in the condition notes : engine is about to go "Kaput", or even "Don't buy this car! It's a lemon!"

I'd get an s14 thats just short of the 125kw/tonne rule and then WHACK ON THE BOOST :upurs:

w00t... just bought a project car...
leb replied to funkymonkey's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Do both A and B, Drift the hell out of it, and then when the car starts going downhil, sell it outside the movie cinema -
I wouldn't touch that thing with a ten foot pole. Yeah its a GTR I love them and all, but that thing has had the crap thrashed out of it (I can be wrong so no need for flaming). What makes think this is : Look at the engine bay, that car has been under intense heat, causing paint and different colour patches on the head, etc. For it only doing 24,000 i think the person must have been driving around at 8000RPM all the time

Word!

Its also who tunes it, if you spend heaps of money on a respected brand eg. HKS and then get some sh*t for brains mechanic to install it, you've wasted your money. Its also the driver, remember theres always going to be a corner. They're all good cars its more just personal opinion if anything.

It depends what your looking at, Both are quick cars and so theres hardly a difference, especially when you start modifying it. Also, you must consider how much its going to cost to maintain, both are imports so parts will be hard to get, but i think the silvia will have more parts available as the SR20DET is a local engine (200sx) and so it is cheaper to run. I've been wheighing the choice of whether to get a r33 or s14. I spoke to a relative who owned one (r33) and he said to go the s14 as both are quick cars, but the s14 is alot cheaper to run as the SR20 is a tiny bit stronger than the rb20 or RB25. I'd go the silvia but hey don't get my wrong a 32 would be just as awesome, it might just be maintainance thats a biatch

Hey all, Yeah I'm probably going to get completely flamed for this... If you get a defect say... Car too loud. What happens if you don't do anything about it and just drive along like you didn't get one? Does the car lose rego or anyting? sorry it just got on my mind before leb.

Haha blitz, thats pretty good. I saw one just as bad. I was near greenacre, saw a CHARADE with a nismo badge on it. I know its not GT-R but still...
-
Yeah I driven the legend before (the 'line of course), I have to say it rules, never driven a 200. The RB series engines sound so awesome to that of an SR20 What is everyone's premiums like who own skylines here?
-
This will be my second car. I've driven turbo powered before and have noticed the diff between a lantra and a '33 lol. The s14 200 I think works out more practical in terms of daily driving. Its just the looks factor thats a downside. That and insurance. *********** I think Im going to have to go the skyline. I can't resist it, the engine has the most relaxing sound. Insurance isn't much different. I've been raised with that car when I was 16 through to now (cousins). Performance, its the quickest of the two and handling i guess would be around the same. What do you guys think? the rb25 just as reliable as the sr20?
-
Yeah its a tough decision ey? GTS-Ts drift out pretty well too, thats the only turbo car i have driven. The tail came out when i went around a hair pin and downshifted to first. i was only doing 20km or something, very slow when it happened. Never driven a 200sx, 180sx, sivlia, etc so i don't know if its going to slide out more (which i don't really want with it being a daily driver of a car). Just gts-ts are so much heavier. Premiums are around the same... I know I'm going to get owned for asking this question, but what is HICAS on the gts-t? does the 200 not have it? is it similar to attessa?
-
Haha yeah. Theres an idiot near me who has a VN commodore V6, he riced it up Thinks he can beat schumacher. He gives car enthusiasts a bad name.
-
Damn, never knew that, soz. Stupid RTA. They're becoming too greedy.
-
How is a blow off valve illegal? I don't know rta expectations but i thought as long as the BOV isn't too loud, its all good.
-
Yeah dun worry INASNT, I'm not going to straight away modify it, I've only driven a turbo car once ('94 r33 gts-t) and it felt a WAYYYY different to drive with the how the engine responses to that of the car i drive every day (lol - a 93 hyundai lantra, stock as a rock). So I'll definately be sensible. But when my limits (when im say 20 and off P's) are higher than that of the car, I'll do it up a bit and leave it at that. Still im a sensible driver so I'm not worried about crashing because i dont do stupid speeds like 180km in 60's. I never drive out of my limits, maybe one day if i drive on a track, but not a main roa. So many idiot drivers that hoon and aren't in control, You only need two of those people together to create a horrific crash.
