Matt this is really going to be a trial and error procedure. However my guess is that the used bearing carrier is too long, and is continually applying the thrust bearing to the pressure plate. Therefore the clutch is not seeing 100% of the clamping force which is allowing to "slip" when the engine in making power. If this is the case go see a clutch specialist they will sort you out. However as BHDave has stated if there is any grease or oil that may have contacted the flywheel this may be the cause of the problem. As soon as there is a "liquid" lubricant comes in contact with the clutch face, it's a death sentence. I strongly recommend that when installing the carrier bearing to use graphite powder rather then grease, this will not affect the clutch in anyway. No matter what the problem I strongly discourage you from driving the vehicle until you have solved the problem. If you glaze the clutch plate(s) you might as well throw the item in the bin.

I personally cannot say a bad thing about ACL products, including pistons. Their lines, as most Australian products, are manufactured to extremely strict tolerances therefore the end product is of an extremely high standard. Although not all “race series” pistons are forged, most that are suited to high compression & forced induction applications are. This does definitely includes the entire Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru & Toyota applications These items are tried and tested. Therefore all I can say is … support the local product.
