Literally one of the most common issues seen... Search the forum, you'll find the answers.
-
Firstly, you should try searching the forum. There's a bunch of threads covering this already. Secondly, I would suggest steering clear of Skylines as your first car. Or at least, first car on your P's. Get some experience under your belt first. Sounds clieche and you don't wanna hear it, but there's a reason everyone will say it. Not to mention you likely want a Skyline as a performance car, so wait until you're off your P's and get a GTT. That's my 2c on that anyway. As for insurance, it wouldn't surprise me that you're getting $3k+ quotes. Not a lot of companies will insure Skylines (or other imports) and are especially hesitant to red P platers. Skyline ownership isn't cheap. Maintenance, insurance, time. Do some research on what you're in for.

$15-$25k Maybe more with the "external BOV"

How did it go? I dogged it due to a dinner date with the misso

Have you got a fuel pressure gauge? Have you checked it's consistent?

time for new brake pads - happy with TRW
inmaniac replied to mikel's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've done my brakes a couple of times. To answer "I don't know why" people don't crack the bleeder, it's because 1. I'm lazy and didn't have some hose to bleed without a mess and 2. I wasn't gonna bleed the brakes if I didn't have to and 3. My brake fluid was a little low, so I just pushed in the pistons and voila! -
...no studs at all? A search will help you find what you're after.

Interested. Planning on buying one in a couple months so price would have to be shaved a little to entice me into buying now. $190 is pretty standard.

As I mentioned, a K&N replacement filter will be fine. If you're concerned about your throttle response, don't bother with a "BIG" front mount. Get something that suits your purpose, or stick with stock if you're not winding up boost too far. If you do wind it up, or replace turbo for something bigger etc, get yourself a decent 76mm intercooler kit. The HDI brand is the bare minimum when talking quality.

K&N Do some research here. You want quality, and not over-the-top, otherwise your throttle response will be screwed not to mention slight increase in lag.

Rb20det s13 runs perfect but slower than a civic
inmaniac replied to Tortise240's topic in Introduce yourself
The clunk you've described is likely just the centre bearing of the driveshaft. So no, it wouldn't cause a power issue, but yes it should be sorted eventually. It's strange that you're holding boost, timing is good and AFR's are fine. Quite a conundrum. Maybe you could get a video of the car accelerating for us? Hard to identify further, for me anyway (but I'm no mechanic lol)- 20 replies

I understand trying to achieve certain sounds, but I hope you're not basing your entire build around it lol. Get the parts you need for desired power, then work out what kind of exhaust system you'd use. Youtube and talking to people on this forum would help with those decisions. Regarding Hypergear, I recently bought one of their 21U high flows (smaller than OP6) and I've got 240ish rwkw (320hp to the wheels) and that's on pump fuel and basic mods. I highly recommend them and they've got a looooooong history in this community. Even if you don't go with Hypergear, don't go with that chinese crappy turbo, you'll regret it.

Mate, there are literally 1000's of variables when you're talking about all of those items. Just use the search bar for each one, you'll find very extensive threads covering each one. Here's some arbitrary items (with no thought to your power goals or budget): Exhaust - Custom made, 3in TBE, high flow cat FMIC - Plazmaman Core, Piping kit Fuel Pump - Walbro 460LPH (buy along with a e85 flex sensor, Turbosmart FPR) Injectors - 1000cc Xspurt AFM - Z32 or R35 ECU - Link, Haltech, take your pick
-
Aight - well I just gave you one
-
With that kind of turbo setup surely you'd want all the usual stuff? Exhaust FMIC Fuel Pump Injectors AFM ECU

I think you're crazy dude.

I was going to say this but didn't want to crush the dude's dreams haha

That's lame And also quite a bit of coin you must be spending to get it converted! Good luck with it bud.

Hi Jasper. Tell us a bit about your car! Any mods, plans for it etc. Looks purrdy!

Rb20det s13 runs perfect but slower than a civic
inmaniac replied to Tortise240's topic in Introduce yourself
The new V6 Honda Accord has over 200kw IIRC, whereas an RB20DET had 158kw, and that's when it was brand new, not 20+ years old. Your question is pretty vague bud without more details, but really it isn't hard to imagine your RB20 being slower.- 20 replies
